We stayed for two nights on our excellent Swallow Tail tour for three. This was our first hotel in Bhutan and it was excellent. The staff were gentle and polite. Both the public rooms and our rooms were very clean and attractive. There was a lift to our second floor rooms which were very spacious with large very comfortable beds, large flat screen television, safe, fridge, tea making, desk and chair, lounge and coffee table. The bathroom was convenient with a shower over a bath. There was a hair dryer, toiletries and a make-up mirror. The water was hot, although it did see-saw from warm to hot in the shower. Still I was in the Himalayas and it was -2C outside so I was not complaining.
On the ground floor there was a bar and a large attractive restaurant where we had both breakfasts and dinners. The food was fresh, varied and tasty. The portions were very generous and the service was courteous and attentive.
Thimphu is a ‘city’ which is growing rapidly along the main road. The only down side of this hotel for us was that it was located too far from the centre of town for us to walk in. This was not a problem for us really as in January, although the days were lovely and sunny, by the evening it was too cold for us to be outdoors anyway.

Stayed here for two nights in Oct 2017.
Pros:
1) The rooms and bathrooms are very spacious and spotlessly clean.
2) The decor is excellent with quality wooden flooring.
3) Good Wi-Fi connection even in rooms far away from the lobby.
4) Good gym and spa facility and the spa rates are quite cheap.
5) The staff is very courteous and very helpful.
6) Service in the restaurant is very quick. The breakfast/dinner is always on time.
Cons:
1) The place is far from the city centre and right off the main road and it is quite difficult to walk around.
2) There is not much eating options around the hotel. So you are stuck to the hotel restaurant or need to take a taxi to the city centre.
3) The quality and taste of the food was just about adequate. There is a lot of scope of improvement here.

My husband and I recently spent two nights at this wonderful hotel, towards the end of our two-week trip to Bhutan organized by Bhutan Swallowtail Tours. To experience authentic, traditional Bhutan, we asked to stay on farms in rural areas. So, it was a treat to enjoy luxury, comfort and wi-fi for a few days. Staff were friendly and attentive and took care of our laundry, etc - overall an excellent experience!

During our 11-tour of Bhutan, this was our least favorite hotel. It had a lot to do with the fact that we were given a room directly on the street side, where you heard traffic all night long and dog barking. Despite using ear plugs, my wife and I did not get a good night's sleeping during our three-day stay. I asked twice for a different room, but was told that ll the rooms were occupied due to the festival which was going on in Thimpu. Next time, I will insist to speak to the manager or demand a different hotel.
The food in the restaurant is vegetarian and of of average quality, selection in freshness. Except for the front desk, we found the staff to provide good service. I would personally not use this hotel and again and cannot recommend it.

For a conference we were in Thimphu Bhutan recently and stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and found the hotel to be fairly good with large rooms, good service and all amenities that you normally need during your stay. Breakfast however had a limited spread. Overall a pleasant experience.

New hotel with spacious room & comfortable bed & good wifi. Plenty of plugs to charge my devices. But avoid rooms on the front side of the hotel especially 1A & 2A due to they r next to a vacant lot where stray dogs will spend the night. You'll hear barking & dog fighting sounds throughout the night. I couldn't sleep at all. The hotel will not replenish toiletries unless they are completely used up.

We were in Thimphu for 2 nights and has stayed at Tara Phendeyling. We were initial given a double that was later upgraded a triple. The double was small and accomodate only 2, however the triple was quite spacious.
Food was excellent and was veg only (egg alone was there) which worked perfectly for us. The spread and quality of food was decent. Their momos are a must try he staff were friendly.
They have sauna /steam room that is not be missed.
Overall a decent hotel

Like other reviews, this was our first hotel arranged by our tour operator. Room was comfortable, good in-room WIFI and air conditioning.
Breakfast was very good and included in the rate.
The restaurant was one of the best we had during our trip - but we were not advised that it was vegetarian. This was no problem for us, but if you need meat on the menu, you'll have to go elsewhere. But the veggie-based menu was extensive and very fresh.

Yes we do serve North indain Vegetarin dishes.
Yes. But the standard is not as good as you expect. But Daal Chawal is good.
