I traveled with a group of American high school students, and Pioneer Camp was our base of operations while in Lusaka. We rented the cottage and several chalets. We also used Pioneer to run a mobile safari for us. Pioneer feels like a home away from home. The staff who run it are friendly and competent. The food is good,... More

My stay at pioneer camp was really great. It was a camp but with all the benefits and felt like a lodge. I would recommend this place to absolutely everyone! Best campsite I have been at thus far. This is a must see

Firstly, I addressed my concerns to the manager and was given a full refund by the man she was having breakfast with! Thank you, but mostly want to address concerns with management before making any review so they can correct and know what is happening; however think it is fair to share my experience with others and that a good... Dear Luke, Thank you very much for the review. Having been on trip advisor for many years, I am very thankful that this is the first time I have been able to access the reviews in order to respond. I am not sure why this was not possible in the past but we are now thankfully set up to respond... More

My husband and i always try to stay at Pioneer when we are transitting through Lusaka. It is a haven of peace and quiet after the chaos of Lusaka. If we are flying in and out it is very close to the airport. Staff are very helpful and the food is good. The rooms are clean and very comfortable and... More

Since decades I am travelling along the Great Easterly. The condition of the road was until lately subject to surprises, Pioneer Camp always proved to be a positive experience. Thanks to Alfred, every visitor is treated like a king/queen. Even when I arrived late without a booking, a wonderful meal was prepared and I could enjoy a nice, hot shower.... More

This appeared to be a conveniently placed stopover during our drive up to East Africa. However $80 for a very mediocre safari tent was way over priced in comparison to many other similar places. Also the road in was long and rough which made it not so convenient if you want to do chores and shopping in the city. However... More

Great if you are catching a flight to somewhere else the next day, as it is not too far from the airport. Advise to arrange for transport if you don't want to eat steak as food options are limited here. Rooms are well appointed, but this is a camp lodge for overlanders, so be prepared for power cuts, water not... More

Yes admittedly Pioneer isn't perfect for everyone, but its damn close! It's a peaceful haven, one of Africa's heavenly escapes, which is nice to stop off for a week and unwind and explore or even set up base camp and travel to and from. The camp is not too far from Lusaka city (3 hoursish from Victoria Falls). They offer... More

This camp is on the right sight from Lusaka if you're going to, or arriving at, the airport. On the other hand the last 5 kilometers to the camp are on a very bad dirt road. So it takes some time to go there and it's not the best place if you also want to be out in the city... More
