Sadly, this lovely place is very over priced for what you get. The pool is very clean and there is always a space/bed available. Unfortunately the service really lets this place down. The staff are quite disorganised, they took 70 minutes to bring an ice coffee, when it came it was just a normal cappuccino (Hot). I waited a further 35 minutes. The service was inexcusably the worst. Trying to even get served in the first place was a mission. One that I won’t be trying again when it’s the most expensive pool in Kampala.
I stayed in this hotel two years ago for a fortnight, and although not amazing it was fine. Now it has gone seriously downhill, where to start. Staff show a total lack of interest. Rooms are seriously dated, and do not resemble the glossy advertising. Way overpriced for what is a glorified travelodge. Wi fi is as good as redundant. I normally stay elsewhere in Uganda/Kampala so am used to the area and standards of hotels this place lacks in everything. I suggest the owners/management look at how the competitors are doing things and catch up. Not a chance in hell I will be back which is a shame as it could be good.
I love staying at Kabira, the staff are super friendly and the pool, gym, sauna are amazing. I'm allergic to lactose and they also get soya milk in for me so I can have a nice latte in the mornings. I enjoy the hotel so much that I rarely bother to leave in the evenings when I am here on work trips!
Spontaneously decided to spend a night at the hotel with a special young friend, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, even upgrading us to a 2-bedroom suite to enhance this 'first time in a hotel' experience for my friend. When it turned out my flight was leaving at midnight and not at noon (what?!) they offered me a room to shower in before I left for departure. The gym/sauna/ massage facility is great, with plenty of space and a good changing room, plus 2 really good massage therapists. The restaurant was also wonderful - all the meals were really good, especially the Friday night Mongolian Barbeque buffet. Also - spent a minute in Eric's Salon, having a mani/pedi, complete with wine and tea. (Wish my place at home served wine - makes sitting still much easier). Really excellent work and such nice people.…
I was amazed to see such land view in a hotel in Kampala. However, what I found out after I checked in is such a big disappointment... If you rate the ground view 5 star, the room itself is only 3 or maybe less. Broken safe, unusable shower nozzle... Plus, no hairdryer! Which is a deal breaker for me. Thank goodness they responded well and fixed them. The staff there is courteous and greeting you every time they saw you. Breakfast is great! Love the juice there! Didn't use the gym and other facilities in the hotel. But they look nice. Overall, it's only a 3 star experience but I'll give it 4 for well trained staff and quick responses.
