Wonderful view of kampala. This is a gem which is being left to waste..it is like the owners have given up on it. The original concept ,-location and design...was creative. In it's splendour years it must have been a dream hotel in kampala. The rooms need a touch of paint. Curtains old , dusty and musty...breakfast did not match to... More

This place has The Very Best View over Kampala. A terrific sunset and you’ll see the thousands and thousands of iron roofs, dust, light, cars and people way down there. The place has hardly any service, but you’ll get what you need while enjoying the view.

The views from the Diplomate are spectacular, clearly one of the best views in town overlooking the city, which, especially after sunset is quite fantastic. However, you are best advised to pack a picnic basket with your own favourites bites and drops, to match your culinary experience to the view. The service is slow, somewhat dim-whitted, with good and drink... More

Poor service! Poor food! Poor drinks! The food/drink you order bears no resemblance to the food/drink you get! They bring, after a few hours, what they've got! we're told this used to be a good eaterie about 10+ years ago! Not anymore! Shame, because it has such wonderful views, but these in no way compensate for the below poor dining... More

I had the unfortunate experience of staying at Hotel Diplomate whilst in Uganda this month for the opening of an art exhibition that i am a part of along with all other fellow artists. The hotel is old and is complete disrepair, the bathroom had several leaks from the sink and toilet while i was there and reporting this resulted... More

We spent 5 nights here over the course of a week. It has great views from the hilltop and a very friendly staff. The infrastructure is a bit run down. There is little chance I'd give this a 3-star rating if it were in the states. However, we are not and the prices here are low. The pillows are not... More

We booked our table for 12 almost one week upfront. Promised was a free veranda with the best view. On the evening 3 other tables had been added for other people. The food that was offered was expensive. We ordered. It was cold and it couldn't even fill half a normal stomachs. Beers warm. Service was maybe provided by students... More

The name Diplomat Hotel, the quite surroundings, an affluent location and a great view of the hotel will get you, as they are the only positive highlight of this place. Other than that, in my opinion this place needs a complete shutdown. My wife and I spent two painful nights at this old, dilapidated building with magnificent view though, while... More

The diplomat was stationed on the top of a hill and had really nice views of the city... i was site seeing in town and it was a good place to stop for a cold drink. I heard reviews of it being a bit dingy but I only went there for a drink, some food and to play some pool.... More
