The grounds are beautiful and very spacious. Be aware, the room pods are built on the hills and if you have difficulty with a walk to the main building, make sure you ask for a room CLOSE or within the building. My walk was up hill and I found myself breathing a bit hard by the time I reached the restaurant/bar/lobby. My balcony offered a great view of the golf course. The room was spacious and very comfortable.
Service was great. Food was average except for the Nile perch filet, which was remarkable. Prepared in a mustard based sauce, the light and flakey Nile perch filet was just a delete to eat. Breakfast buffet was nice but get there at 7:00 to find everything out. I was always there at 6:30, sharp and found the set up incomplete and the egg chef seldom present. I must mention DEO, Joan, Kristine and Joanna as servers standing out.
The resort has a well-kept 18 hole golf course on Lake Victoria. What made it stand out is its location. It is a difficult course to play as it offers significant water hazards and bunkers to negotiate. When compared to my Northern Virginia experiences, this course compares to the well kept Prince William or Quantico Marine Corp base Medal of Honor course. So, I rate it a 3.5 out of 5. However, its location on Lake Victoria just places it in a category of a 4 to 4.5. Golf starter Patrick and caddies Richard and Nelson were outstanding employees and knew the course and greens quite well.
The resort now relies on internet TV, 100%. It was constantly buffering and often down. channel choices were great, truly international, e.g. Chinese news, BBC, Al Jazeera, CNN, FOX and MSNBC. The internet was troubled, creating difficulty for those of us on business trips to get our work finished. Mine was a four week long trip and the internet troubles interfered with a smooth payment of my personal and business bills.
Overall, I rate the resort a 4 out of 5 and would return.
lovely place.
My reason for giving it such a poor review was that the lousy food in the restaurant. There was only a buffet available and the choice of dishes wasn't very good. What was available was tasteless. The only I could eat was cheese which was available at both breakfast and dinner.
It's hard to believe that what is supposedly a five-star hotel offers its guests such bad food. The hotel has to improve this.
However, the hotel was disorganized. I emailed the hotel about a month in advance to schedule Covid tests, an airport transfer, and book a tee time at the golf course. It took several emails from me “following up” before I got a response. I eventually scheduled and paid for a Covid test and an airport transfer. When we checked in, it didn’t seem like there was a note under our reservation about the Covid test, tee time, or airport transfer. We asked about these things at check in and were brushed off instead of assured that they were confirmed. When the time came for our Covid test appointment, it turned out they hadn’t actually scheduled it. I had to show the emails to prove that we had scheduled a Covid test, and they were able to schedule it later in the day.
The airport transfer was $60USD. There are two ways of getting to the airport: the toll road (much faster) and the non toll road (much slower due to traffic and construction). The driver did not take the toll road even after we asked him about it, which was quite frustrating and time consuming. For $60, which is an expensive transfer price in Kampala, we should have taken the toll road.
I expect more from a 5-star hotel.
I wouldn’t stay here again

"Pool is spotless clean. Gym is excellent I always opted to run in the morning on the paved cart walkways within the golf course. Paradise!"Read full review
