This marks my second stay at One Minute South and it was still as special as the first. I was there with a new group of friends for a weekend birthday celebration and the staff went above and beyond to make us all feel at home. The food was great and the house, horse, and plethora of dogs were a joy to be around. I recommend taking a walk around the island and seeing some of the breathtaking views or just sit by the pool and watch the birds. I saw three hornbills, a pair of nesting eagles, and a countless amount of kites all from the front porch, so if you like birdwatching you also have that to look forward to. All in all it was a fun filled weekend. I would definitely recommend it for a weekend stay.
Perched atop a cliff surrounded by breathtaking greenery and panoramic views of Lake Vic, the villa offers a welcome escape from the pollution and noise of Kampala. I have visited One Minute South many times, a true testament to how much I love staying here! Three-course meals are freshly cooked every day (including home made bread and baked desserts!), so you definitely won't go hungry. The pool is wonderful to cool off in whilst watching birds, otters and other wildlife on and around Bulago. There villa is beautifully decorated with unique art pieces, and there's no shortage of seating areas and spaces to play board games, read or socialise. The staff are incredibly hospitable and kind, and have always gone above and beyond to make my stay unforgettable. Boat transfer from Kampala/Entebbe straight to the villa's private beach can also be arranged by One Minute South. I could not recommend this property enough, and will continue returning as long as I'm living and working in Kampala!…
Bulago is just idilic. Its a perfect location to relax and be looked after so well by the friendly excellent staff. The space is airy and dotted with quirky sculptures. The rooms are beautiful and the lake can be heard gently lapping on the prinstine shoreline. Its definitely paradise. The food that is prepared by the chef is delicious. Most coming out of the organic vegetable garden.Highly recommended it was a wonderful visit.Thank you
Having visited One Minute South on a few occasions, my visit this week was by far the best. New Menu with amazing items, most grown and or baked on the island. The BLT was great and the homemade cookies were unreal. Peanut butter and choc chip cookies were by far the tastiest cookies I've had. Thoroughly recommend one minute south to everyone as a must visit on their trip to Uganda or as a weekend escape from Kampala.
From the moment you arrive at Bulago Island the magic starts to work on you. Kick off your shoes and plunge into the beautiful pool while Fred makes you an excellent sundowner. The chef is excellent, making truly delicious salads, scrummy cakes and biscuits to munch on during the day and his breakfasts are top notch. Ali is a fantastic hostess and her love of the island shows. She is setting up a marine conservation area and working closely with The Uganda Wildlife Association too. The villa is beautiful, its more like sharing someone's treasured home than staying in a hotel. This is a place to relax, bird watch, be pampered and let Bulago work that magic on you. We can't wait to come back.
