I stayed at Bushpig for 9 nights at the end of November. It was really welcoming, safe and good value for money. The breakfast, which is included, was excellent (I had the pancakes most mornings) and the staff were super helpful. The shower temperature and pressure was the best I experienced in Uganda out of about 6 places I stayed. As well as the facilities, the location of Bushpig is also excellent since you can walk to a lot of clubs, bars, Acacia Mall and the Uganda Museum. I would particularly recommend Que Pasa and Wave Lounge for a night out.

I was in a 6 bed dorm, the cheapest option ($10 a night) but there were never 6 people in the room as it was not the busy season. I started out in the all-female dorm but moved to a mixed dorm halfway through my stay, as it was on the other side of the building so a lot more open and breezy. So my one criticism would be that they should change which is the all-female dorm since I don't believe that female travellers should have to choose between their sense of comfort/safety and a nicer room.

Best backpackers in kampala. The rooms are clean (single rooms are little bit small but yet compfartable) there is always hot water in the shower and the staff are smily and will do anything to make the stay there to feel like home. They also assist me with other things regarding my trip around the country.
There is a restaurant in the place, a little bit pricey but the food is good and there are always people from the area who come to sit, eat, drink and enjoy the young atmosphere.
It is also located next to many other bars and Satch..
I really love this place.

We had no problem in arriving after the curfew time which is currently on in Kampala, as recepción personnel was there 24h a day. However, once we arrived we did experience some small problems with the room to be given to us and the conditions in which we were to stay, which were sorted out as quickly as possible by the Bushpig staff. In the three days we stayed there, the staff was always very kind and supportive with any issue we had. The price, the facilities and the location of the Bushpig make it the best choice when visiting Kampala.

I keep coming back for work in Kampala and always stay at bushpig as it is great value for money. For the past 4 years, staff fluctuation was very low which shows that the team is in good spirits. And you feel it: rooms are very clean, if something needs fixing, it is done fasfas; the meals are delicious, you hardly see chef Deo but he is gooood - especially the fresh pizza for which the bar is known. I am happy you are still there, despite COVID, see you next time.

2nd time here. likely not our last. Stayed on top floor, v. spacious, clean rooms. Dependable Wifi & hot water, shower professional courteous & attentive team to cater to your needs (and wants). Centrally located which makes it easy for friends and colleagues to drop by. Breakfasts are just right, fresh juices, hot Ugandan tea. Storage room facility meant we could leave our medical supplies donations there with confidence, until they were picked up. As soon as you walk into the compound, the madness of the city drops off your shoulders and you are part of the Bush Pig family. Furniture is artistically made from recycled metal and wood. There are cozy quiet places to sit in, for more intimacy or to get some work done. Outside swing and seating area under banana plants, if u're lucky the house cat might join you. Big mall is easily walk-able. The food is very satisfying, choices to fit the western palate, plenty of fresh fruit, hot Ugandan tea, great cocktails. (Would be nice to have more Ugandan choices too - matooke for instance). It is in a busy party quarter of the city - which can mean noisy Friday and Saturday nights, bring your ear plugs if u'r a light sleeper. ENJOY! : )

Bushpig became our consistent residence over the two month trip to Uganda. We stayed there on five occasions during the trip, each time for a few days. As a landing point from the US, the Bushpig was warm and friendly, helping us figure out how to spend our time in country. They have numerous connections throughout Uganda, many of which we used during our stay. In house, they have great pizzas, large breakfast with strong coffee and espresso, a variety of beer, wine and cocktails, and are the social hub for many locals and expats. We especially liked the pub trivia on Mondays, which helped us meet a few cool new friends.
Definitely recommend this place!

Easy check in, good rooms with good wife

A very pleasing bar area. On my visit due to current situation the menu was reduced to pizzas. This was no problem as they were excellent, so much so that I observed customers for food arriving for take aways.

If I need accommodation when in central kampala this would be my choice of hotel

This was a fantastic hostel! I particularly appreciated the staff. Whenever I had a problem, they were right there and very helpful (they helped me get rides on motorcycles; they helped me with my adapter; they even helped me with something on my computer). What they did was definitely above and beyond the call of duty. I also really liked the restaurant. Normally, I don't go to many restaurants, but this one had excellent food at very good prices and the waiters and the customer service was great. It's also where we ate breakfast and it was a very filling and tasty breakfast. They even give you about five or more options to choose from. Overall, I was very pleased with Bushpig. The next time I return too Kampala, I'll definitely stay there.

I organized a sports event in Kampala and inquired to Bushpig about a group room rate for out of town players. The staff was extremely kind, flexible, and accommodating. We will definitely book with Bushpig in the future! A big thanks to Gloria for all the help and answering our many questions!

Our Roadtrip through Uganda ended in Kampala, sadly or fortunately or booked AirBnB had some issues. So we had to find a good and safe place in Kampala before it turned dark, we checked google and found the hostel Bushpig. We contacted them while we were on the way to Kampala. They responded really fast and there wasn't an issue with rooms or the number of our group members (we were 6). It's a clean, handsome and nice stay while you're in Kampala. The staff is lovely and has many hidden tips for the city. You can wash your clothes, have an Airportshuttle which we used, shut out to our driver who stayed calm as we began to panic because of the lack of time and the traffic back to Entebbe.
The food is really good, good prices and good portion sizes (as an european whose used to eating alot).
Next time we visit Kampala, Bushpig is going to be our place to stay and discover the city.
