The hotel is right in the city center but you are still looking onto the sea if you have a great view. Nice lobby but heavy security check point upon your entry. The first person I met at the front desk was Lamine and what a wonderful guest navigator he was. He should be a manager so well versed in a lot of details about the hotel and Dakar as a whole. The lobby was beautiful wonderful artistic choices for decor . They have a wonderful breakfast spread so it's a steal for the early riser. It is advisable to have your translator app ready for your Senegal trip. I felt happy that the front desk staff spoke English to help with my check in. The entire staff have wonderful customer service. The nice addition to the hotel stay is you get to access all the amenities of Novotel which is right next door, there is a beautiful gallery in Novotel that will tickle your fancy also they have performances so you get to hear live music so not a bad deal. You get a great view of Goree Island from the rock beach which is right outside the back of the hotel and it is breathtaking to behold the sea views. Also you are close to the bustling Marche aka Market you can get from unique carvings to passion fruits the variety is vast. Overall the hotel is a good location near the city and by access points to major tourist attractions.

Rooms are the usual Ibis with low level of tear Breakfast is boring with no change at all from day to another The garden needs regular cleaning and pest and rodent action immediately however the hotel staff are as helpful and friendly as a five star hotel or a boutique hotel Abdoulaye displayed high level of attentiveness in fixing my double booking error to ensure to make me pay for exactly what I booked for. Such staff understanding is needed when you are away from home.

I chose to stay in this part of town over Yoff as I wanted to be close to the Gorée Island ferry as well as experience the more local atmosphere in the neighborhood. The Ibis is the perfect value hotel to find - the location is right next to a bustling market, and a 15-minute walk from the ferry terminal. Independence square is about 15 minutes too, as is the small Lagon beach. The hotel is what you would expect from Ibis: consistent decor - small, but comfortable with everything you need. The view in the room across the ocean is splendid, especially being woken by the morning sun. The property shares the pool and the restaurant with the larger Novotel next door, both of which are great. Breakfast is plentiful, and wifi works well. The staff is awesome, especially Khaditja who went out of her way and made about two dozen phone calls to sort out my airline bookings, help without which I would've been completely lost. There is a taxi stand right outside the door, and a huge supermarket about 5 minutes walk away.
