We were in Dakar on a work trip and someone else had booked our accommodation. On the plus side, it does have a lovely courtyard, cute rooftop restaurant and a small swimming pool. For those on holiday and wanting to steer clear of sterile Western-style hotels, this small hotel is fine. But the service is sadly lacking and some of the rooms are substandard. On my first night, I found my toilet did not work at all and asked the next day, if it could be immediately fixed or could I exchange rooms. The response was a sullen shrug. (Hey, was just asking for a functioning toilet.) It took two trips to the front desk before I was given another room. The level of cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. One of my colleagues had a cockroach infestation and again met with the same response and eventually handed a bottle of insect spray. All of our group have travelled extensively and are aware that standards differ but I think it’s fair to say functioning bathrooms and ensuring cleanliness is a pretty basic request for the level of accommodation this hotel purports to offer.…
We arrived at the hotel after a rough day with many misgivings. We had made the reservation online and paid only an hour beforehand and the staff could not find it in their system, but they told us not to worry and gave us the room with a promise to look again in the morning. We spent the night and had dinner at their small garden restaurant. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was cosy and relaxed. The room was clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. The garden and pool simply lovely.
They have a very lovely rooftop restaurant. The selection hasn’t changed for me since it opened. So I don’t go often. But the few items they have area lovely. There is a great gin and tonic menu. However the few times I have been, they didn’t have the actual brand of gin advertised. I still think the Spanish restaurant in Ngor, el Toro has better quality selections, but this place is nice if you are in the mermoz, sacre Coeur, sicap baobab/amitie area.
Cute hotel, artsy rooms. The manager Mr. Sidaty shouted at me loudly in front of guests amd diners, saying I was trying to trick him and that he would frogmarch me to the ATM to pay for my stay since he clearly had no idea how to deal with pre-paid expedia bookings ('and the accountant who deals with that doesn't work Sundays'). If that wasn't enough he threatened to block me from leavimg for the airport the next mornimg unless I went to the atm with him right there and then. I reconfirmed twice with him that a breakfast package would be ready to grab and go for my 6am departure... there was nothing ready. Will avoid in future.
we like to come here for lunch, dinner or just for a drink ! The host is very nice and makes you feel comfortable The food is tasty, the drinks are diverse compared to what you find in Dakar and being a Gin lover , Im in paradise with all the cocktails.
