I booked a room with a view on the main street (rue de la république) rather than an ordinary room and I was happy with my choice. There is 1 such room on each floor with an extra large balcony (room 21, 31, 41...) and the view on the street is nice with the 3 level's restaurant Caesar's in front, a school, and beautiful old trees. You can put armchairs and a table from the room and feel well connected with the pulse of the city. Of course, it can be noisy with the traffic, but the rooms are properly isolated when windows are closed. Worth paying a little extra for this room if you plan to stay some time at the hotel.

Important to note that most of the staff on duty were friendly and very helpful. Security is 100% professional. However: 1. Poor WifI: I was surprised to learn that wifi connectivity problems (causing me to miss a holiday dinner invite via WhatsApp!) were nothing new to the hotel staff. They said they've had many guest complaints about poor wifi - but apparently didn't fix it. 2. When other minor hotel problems added up to warrant a conversation with the hotel manager - he was nowhere to be found. Over three days, he wasn't there - and front desk staff said they had no contact information for him (he's new, they said). The second-in-charge was alerted, but didn't follow up. 3. Avoid the hotel restaurant waiter with heavy booze on his breath, as he wasn't sober enough to describe menu items and later, the wrong order came to my table. When I called him out for smelling like alcohol, I was surprised that other hotel staff were already aware the waiter had a liquor problem. Hey - I don't want anyone to lose their job - maybe consider putting the tipsy waiter in the kitchen or back office? 4. My reservation said a holiday "Gala Dinner" was included in the rate. There was no gala dinner. There wasn't even a regular dinner included for the price. Be sure to confirm. 5. At check-in, my room looked nothing like the photos on the website. However, when I went back downstairs to ask why - they moved me to one of the renovated rooms, with a nice view of the main street and all the action at "Ceasar's Restaurant" across the street. The hotel location is - perfect - and is very well secured. Housekeeping wonderful. Flexible checkout.

This hotel has nice location, close to the Palace of the Prime Minister, easy access and relatively nice, clean rooms. However the breakfast is very poor, slow and you really need time for morning eating.

it s the cheapest in downtown, vintage but clean. They do not vive water free of charge in the room, on the other side of the road there is a supermarket. Breakfast not included, you can have it in the restaurant. They do not have a shuttle (airport is far away), but they can arrange a taxi (expensive option, they charge you 25.000 instead of 16.000).

Don't forget we are in Dakar. Given that, I can only say I liked the hotel. A large bedroom with a fully functional bathroom. Air conditioning worked fine, wifi was just OK. Fortunately I had data from Tigo - bought a SIM card at the airport and it gave me 1.5GB for one week for a mere USD 7. Staff were helpful and friendly. There are good restaurants around. The hotel restaurant is not bad. The only major complaint is the mattress - need urgent replacement - but could sleep well in any case.
