We spent the night there Sat. Aug 31. We lucked out and got the last room available that evening at the cost of only $55.00 plus tax. The room was clean and you could tell recently remodeled. The bed was comfortable had a good nights sleep. There were flowers planted in front of the rooms and sitting on most of the airconditioers were painted pet rocks. Which I thought was a cute touch.
We stayed overnight at the Avoca Inn while on a road trip from Illinois to Colorado. The Motel 6 up the road was already booked up, so we checked out the Avoca Inn. Our room was only $55 plus tax. The front desk worker was very kind and friendly. However, we noticed a dead grasshopper in plain view on the floor in the lobby. Then our room had no towels and had a strange smell. But there was coffee! If you have low expectations and only want a cheap bed to sleep in while passing through, then the Avoca Inn will be sufficient.
I recently stay a week at the Acova Motel. The place was clean and has a very home like feel. The place is old but clean and rooms are being remodel. After reading some of the reviews about the manager, I was pleased to here that they have knew management. I stay here a year ago and the place was horrible carpets were stained and smelled. I was very glad to have the NEW manager. I got there at 3 am when I checked in and the manager was still very polite and respectful. Rooms were clean and smelled wonderful. I was also pleased to have my dog with me. Defiantly a complete change from last time!!!
I wouldn't recommend staying there. Our room was terrible. There was hair in the bathtub, holes in the wall, and dirty and stained carpet. The carpet was so worn it was pulling away from the baseboards. Through the night people knocked on our door and the walls are so thin that we heard people talking. If you're looking for a clean, sanitary, and quiet motel this is not the place to stay.
I stayed here for about a month following the start of a new job. The area is small and there really isn't much around but this motel was a true hidden gem. My room was clean just about every day and I always had fresh towels. If I ever needed anything, all I'd have to do was go to the office and talk to Kim (manager). Kim was very accommodating and kind, as were the other room attendants, motel personnel, and the owner Al. Wifi and cable TV were nice additions to my room. The motel is conveniently located near I-80 and Highway 59. There is a decent restaurant next door (The Embers), a truck stop nearby, a Dollar General, and a few other places. The neighborhood is very quiet and I didn't have to worry about my vehicle being vandalized nor losing any of my personal effects to theft. I would encourage anyone to stop in if they're looking for a quiet, clean room at a reasonable price. I wouldn't put much stock in most of the reviews seen here; my stay was pretty great. Give it a shot. You won't be disappointed.…
I had read the reviews on this motel and felt this would be an ok place to stay for a couple of nights as we had things to do in the area. When we opened the door to our room we had a hard time believing both what the room looked like and smelled like. The carpet was dirty, smelled of stall smoke, animals and the attempt to cover all this up with so much carpet -fresh that it was hard to breath. Needless to say we did not stay at this motel.
My employer booked this establishment due to the proximity of their facility. The owner has no sense of professionalism as she violated my personal privacy by taking pictures of my belonging and then claiming it was the root cause for them to lapse housekeeping duties. Also creating a hostile environment amongst other teammates who were also at this establishment. Creating name defamation. The other post are correct as the lady has no customer service and is extremely rude. The facility is outdated and you get what you pay for therefore don't expect a room like a motel 6 as this is worst than any budget lodging. No housekeeping services. Check-out time is in case by case. Business is run more or less on the informal side. Do not believe all the high praise it has received as it was probably someone exhausted from driving and their judgement was clouded.…
Hidden gem! My husband and I were wary of the low cost ($45) as our recent experiences with other motels were awful. I am glad we gave the Acova Inn a chance! The room (#10) was immaculate! It is obvious that the manager takes pride in her establishment. The room was HUGE, with two comfy queen beds, a separate kitchenette area, and a nice bathroom. Very quiet! The manager was very accommodating, staying well past the normal office hours to help us check-in @10pm. I highly recommend the Acova Inn Motel to anyone looking for an affordable, cozy alternative to the national chains.
A decent mom and pops motel, very reasonably priced. Nice large room, good bed, good shower, flat screen, and fast wifi. Would recommend. Price was around $45, can't beat that with a stick. Friendly owner/manager.
We were here working and were so impressed with this place. No it not complete yet but they are working on each room. (10 is done) The place is clean and quite. Kim at front desk was awesome. Very helpful. She went up and beyond to make us comfortable and helped with whatever we needed.(faxing/printing) There is a great restaurant/bar, practically right out the door . Pets welcome!! Love that!
