Fairly easy to find, parking in front. Seven stairs down to reception, narrow corridor and 3 stairs up to the room. And in the room 3 stairs up to the bathroom. So not good for walking problems.--------------ø The first I noticed is the poor locks on the door. With closer inspection of our lock (room 1) it is even damaged. I opened the locked door in 5-10 seconds from the outside with an old credit card. In other words - no security. The room itself normal sized with cupboards with a tiny safe and a fridge prominently on the floor. And there is a split unit AC. The bathroom is large, but with ONE hand towel for two persons and two tiny bathroom towels of mediocre quality. There is a tub and a shower. Hot water is supplied through a solar heating system backed up with electricity in overcast days. The exhaust fan is black because of dirt. The holder for soap etc is hanging by one point. The other screw is missing. The double bed is in fact to single beds put together which is a good solution. The view from the windows is straight into a wall on the other side of a path where people are passing directly in front of your window. A small TV is hanging high on the wall slanting sideways. You need a good eyesight to read the texting. The poolside looks lovely with a shaded area and one exposed area. The pool is of the dipping pool type, not swimming pool. There are quite a few deckchairs. But when trying to use them you could see that they are all covered in bird droppings. Not so delicate. The breakfast was in nice small room with a generous supply of all you could wish for to breakfast. The second day not so generous. Trying to order an omelette was negative, but we could have boiled or fried eggs. The coffee machine was a blessing. They assisted us in ordering take-away food and they kindly set a table for us at the pool side. Definitely a negative thing is that when something was cooked in the kitchen our room was filled with a stank of burned oil. One specific thing which I never have come across any other place, is the announcement that you have to check out before ten o'clock EXACTLY. If you are late you will be billed half a day's rent. In spite of a friendly host this is a place I would not return to.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay which I have read with interest. Firstly, please accept my sincerest apologies that your expectations were not fully met. I am pleased that you found me to be friendly as my small team and I do our best to provide all our guests with a warm and friendly service. The vast majority of our local (Namibian) and international guests find Jordani offers a relaxed environment with a homely feel. We place enormous importance on guest feedback and if your concerns were brought to my attention immediately, I would have done my best to rectify them, e.g. the towels in your bathroom. PLEASE TAKE NOTE; ROOM 1 where you stayed is in fact a TWIN ROOM equipped with 2 x large 3/4 hotel beds - ALL our room doors have manual locks and are virtually impossible to open if closed/locked with their relevant key properly. In all the years that we have operated JORDANI as a B & B, we have NEVER had a security issue or concern. Our property is fully secure and we have a security guard at night in situ. I thank you for your support and I hope that my above response to your feedback provides you with additional positive insight into JORDANI. Kind regards, Pam Owner/Manager

When you pay a fair price for a room you expect clean sheets, comfortable bed, hot water ect. Not only did they provide all of this they went over and above to make our stay pleasant. We stayed several nights and used the Jordani as our home base. They allowed 3 adults to a room. That is a actually hard to find. They held on to some of our luggage so we didnt have to haul it everywhere with us. We had acquired extra bags from peace corps volunteers for us to take home with us. Jordani put them in a safe place for us till we returned. Daniella is a wonderful host. She arranged for us to have an early breakfast on one of our early days out. We certainly didnt expect that. The breakfast had a variety of choices. They would also prepare your choice of eggs and bacon upon request. Even the coffee cups were heated! The owner, Olf (?) was a very plesant man and was very committed to us having a plesant stay. We did not get to use the pool. It wasnt real big but certainly large enough to cool off in. I might add, of all the places we stayed in Namibia it was one of the cleanest pools. Would highly recommend this b&b.

We stayed at Jordani on a trip through Southern Africa and it suited what we needed. The owners/managers were very nice and they certainly keep the place secure, and even prepared little breakfast kits before we had to leave for our early flight out of WDH, which is 45 km from the city. The location is in Olympia, which is a nice, leafy neighborhood south of central Windhoek and you definitely need to know where you're going, or you will get lost. Luckily, we were able to ask directions. It turns out that a lot of tourist maps have the old street name, instead of the one that has been the name for something like 7 years now. Still, we were well cared for during our short stay, and the rooms are quite large and have all the things you look for.
The only real complaints were that the AC in our room wasn't working well in warm Windhoek and there were a few bugs around the lobby. That said, insects seem to be a norm in Namibia, as they crawl all over the Hosea Kutako airport (even in the business class lounge), so I guess you chalk it up to experience.

TheGlobetrottingGuy's review (below) is a pretty good indicator of Jordani B&B. We were travelling as a group and had a terrible experience here. The others I was travelling with will write their own reviews, so I will stick to my experience and only mention a few of the negative moments my fellow travellers faced.
Firstly, in order to provide a fair review, I will mention the positives. The biggest positive of this place are two of their employees - Diana who cleaned the rooms was very efficient and kept rooms tidy. Daniela who sometimes worked at the reception was also very helpful. The rooms were clean, of a decent size and there was hot water in the shower. The rooms also have a/c's / heaters, but we did not test these out due to the overall pleasant temperature. The property benefits from free parking for guests and seems secure, as it has an eclectic gate and a security guard at night.
There were a few minor problems with the rooms. The bathtubs in two of the rooms leaked from the bottom onto the floor. This was not too much of an issue in one of the rooms, as it had a separate shower, but in the other, the shower was over the tub. We were provided with a mop and bucket to mop up any water that leaked out of the tub.
The rooms had sufficient tea and coffee facilities, but the milk provided expired in March 2016, five months before we arrived. We pointed this out to the staff who promptly provided us with unexpired milk. Further, we noticed that the sachets of ketchup provided at breakfast had expired in May 2015 - some 15 months before we stayed at the hotel!!! This was rather concerning, but the next morning, the sachets had been removed and a bottle of ketchup replaced them. The breakfast is advertised on their website as "all you can eat", but the buffet aspect is limited to the cereal, cold cuts, toast, jam and cheese. Your cooked breakfast is made fresh, but is limited to two small pieces of bacon and two eggs, either fried or scrambled. Nevertheless, the breakfast was quite good.
The pool was unusable during our stay (photo attached), so I am unable to review it.
As TheGlobetrottingGuy points out, this B&B is quite far away from the centre of town and is best suited for visitors with cars. The response he received was that the B&B is " is located in one of the most affluent suburbs of Windhoek with many large luxury homes ". However, unless the purpose of your trip to Namibia is to examine and appreciate these "large luxury homes" the reality is that you will be spending quite a bit of money on taxi fares to and from the city centre or restaurants, especially if you are going out after sunset.
Now for the reason I will never visit Jordani again, and why I (together with those who travelled with me) would strongly recommend against using Jordani. The reason is the unacceptable attitude of the manager (also possibly a co-owner, depending on who you talk to), who I believe is called Pam, who is immensely rude and quite happy to extract as much money from customers as possible. When we got to Jordani, we were at the reception attempting to sort out our rooms. I was attempting to talk to Pam, who must have been doing something else, as she snapped loudly saying "wait till I finish"! No "please bear with me" or "sorry I'm busy, I'll be with you soon", but a loud shout, not dissimilar to a teacher shouting at a naughty student. Customer care (or even a smile) did not appear to be necessary at Jordani.
After settling in, we asked at reception if a restaurant in the city could be booked for us for dinner. Pam jumped up and did it promptly. As I thanked her and was walking away, she shouted "that will be $5 for the telephone call". Now I have stayed at many guest houses in several countries, including Namibia, but this is the first time I was asked to pay the reception of one for them making a restaurant booking. The place we stayed at in Swakopmund booked restaurants for us every night, upon request, and our guide happily booked places using his mobile phone, when we were elsewhere. Pam did not mention this 'charge' prior to making the phone call, to give me an opportunity to refuse. Charging a customer $5 to book a restaurant is ludicrous, especially if this was not mentioned to the customer previously. One of my friends later asked the reception for a piece of paper and was informed by Pam that it would cost her $2. She promptly refused and walked away. To me, it seemed that if you were drowning in the Jordani pool (if it was ever usable), you would first have to toss Pam your wallet with a sufficient amount of money in it, before she threw you a life ring.
The final straw was when one of our party asked for some laundry to be done. The cost of this was$300, double the price that was charged at our guest house in Swakopmund. This itself was not the issue and clothes were provided for washing. Later that evening, Pam 'summoned' the lady to inform her that the clothes were over 10kg and she would be charged an extra $170 for the washing - that is a total of $470!!! No one was informed prior to washing that the clothes were over 10kg and no opportunity was provided to amend the clothes list. Further, this figure of an extra $170 was plucked out of thin air as the laundry form did not mention it and neither did Pam, before the clothes were washed. The lady travelling with us was highly taken aback and asked if the clothes could be weighed in her presence. The response she received from Pam was that "the owner has left and taken the weighing scales with him". This was beyond a joke - the owner was highly unlikely to have taken a set of scales with him where ever he went and Pam was insisting on payment without in fact proving the weight of the clothes. When this was pointed out to her, she became very rude and nasty and said that Jordani provided a service beyond what was normally expected (probably the funniest joke I heard during my entire trip). When we measured the weight of the clothes using our luggage scale, the excess weight was 30 grams! $170 for 30 grams, with no opportunity to amend the clothes list! Let that sink in for a moment.
After the laundry incident, Pam was continuously nasty to the group of us, to the extent that we felt uncomfortable in leaving the rooms. Spitefully, the wireless was turned off when she left in the evening, so that the entire B&B did not have internet until Daniela returned the following morning to fix it (photo attached). We heard another guest complaining about this the next day as well.
The owner (or other co-owner, depending on who you speak to) is Mr. Grunewald, who appeared pleasant, but for the most part was absent. He appears to leave the day-to-day running of the place to Pam, but am not sure if he is aware of the numerous 'extra charges' levied by her. He was not present on our final day, otherwise we would have spoken to him. As a matter-of-fact, Pam stayed away until we left on the final day as well.
Our experience in Jordani nearly ruined our trip to this wonderful country, where everyone else we met was so friendly and kind. Given the unacceptable attitude of the manager, the hidden charges and distance from the city centre, I would recommend against staying here. If budget is your concern, it may be worth trying other guesthouses (such as Caotinha, AnJo Villas, Pension Steiner or Hilltop), which are likely to be more welcoming and more central.

Response from LNHGM, Owner at Jordani B&B Windhoek
Responded Sep 4, 2016
Dear Guest, Thank you for taking your time to post your feedback on your and your group's stay at my long established and reputable B&B. From your lengthy, detailed and specific review, I have identified that you were part of a group that stayed at my B&B twice: at the start and end of your Namibia sojourn. I am pleased that you found my staff members efficient and friendly and that our rooms were clean, of a decent size and there was hot water. FOR THE RECORD: All our prices are in N$ Namibia Dollars (not $). Our rack rates and what is included are clearly advertised on our website, major online platforms and our site's booking engine (Nightsbridge): Bed, breakfast, all taxes and unlimited Wi-Fi. In all our rooms, we also have a Room Info. folder with: Check-in/Check-out times, satellite TV channels, remote controlled aircon/heater instructions, business services and other. Our laundry prices (per item & bulk+) is in your room cupboard with laundry bag/s. We also offer complimentary pool towels, tea/coffee in the room and bathroom toiletries. All our en-suites offer full bath with overhead shower and/or shower cubicle. Importantly, all our beds are extra-wide and extra-long and are of a quality hotel standard. BREAKFAST: On our site, we clearly state that "A good selection of hot and cold foods is served at breakfast". Besides our cold foods buffet, we always ask our guest/s if they would also like hot food. We offer; fried, boiled and/or scrambled eggs with toast. We also offer unlimited and excellent fresh Italian Lavazza espresso coffee, normal coffee and a range of teas. Wi-Fi & Connectivity We clearly advertise free Wi-Fi (unlimited) and this is a valuable *extra* for our guests. However, we are at the mercy of Namibia Telecom and it can happen, as you experienced, that we have a breakdown in signal. This is not uncommon for Windhoek or indeed, Namibia. The system then requires complete re-booting and even then this does not sometimes work. Namibia does not have the fantastic high-speed and large bandwidth broadband that the more developed countries of say the UK, Scandinavia or Japan have. Location Our website clearly states that we are located in the affluent suburb of Olympia and a 5 minute drive from Maerua Mall, one of Namibia's best shopping malls. We also mention that we are only a 5-10 minute leisurely walk from our own local Olympia shopping centre with; Nando's, Pizzeria/Bar (well frequented), large supermarket, pharmacy, petrol station as well as private dental practice. Windhoek's acute water shortage Due to the acute water shortage experienced in Windhoek for some months now, we are forced by local by-laws to cover our swimming pool to save water. Service delivery I place enormous importance on delivering a professional and efficient service whilst providing my valued guest/s with a value for money product. Our B&B has established an excellent reputation over the years and this is clearly endorsed by our many local, regional (South African) and international repeat guests. Rudeness Lastly, your review mentions that I was rude towards you and your group. This truly disappoints me. You may recall that your group leader, entered our (closed-off) professional kitchen without due authorisation and started using sharp cutlery and our food items. He completely ignored our clearly visible *Authorised Entry Only* signage (on the closed door) and my staff member Daniella had to ask him to leave. Not only did the gentleman totally ignore and abuse our B&B’s rules but also the official Health & Safety Regulations set down by the Namibian authorities. Due to his attitude and arrogance, I felt threatened. This type of incident has never happened at my B&B before and I was shocked by his demeanour. I thank you for your feedback and support and for allowing me the opportunity to provide a detailed overview of how my reputable B&B operates. Regards, Pam Owner/Manager

Not a great, not a horrible experience here--as a solo traveler, I did feel out of place at this guesthouse though--it's set up more for families with cars since there are no shops or restaurants near this place. The room was decent, and even had a bathtub, which I used. There is just a very odd vibe to this place--I just did not feel welcome or trusted here. Additionally, the taxi service that this place calls overcharges customers by a large sum--when I asked about it, I was told that this was a reputable taxi company and that you pay for quality--even though my taxi driver told me straight to my face that he hated Americans (yes, I'm American). All in all, I would not recommend this guesthouse--stay closer to town.

Dear Guest, Thank you for posting your feedback on your stay at JORDANI B & B. I am pleased that you liked your room with its full bathroom. ALL our 5 spacious air-conditioned rooms with extra-long (hotel) quality beds have bathtub and shower. Please accept my sincerest apologies if you felt *unwelcome or not trusted*? This is certainly NOT the type of feedback we like to receive and I am personally saddened to read your comment. My small team and I do our best to deliver a friendly professional service and we like our guest to feel *at home*. We have many repeat business and leisure guests and many of these repeat guests are solo travellers or couples. I shall personally approach our contracted taxi company and communicate to their MD what one of their drivers said to you (totally unacceptable). I am truly sorry for any offence this driver caused you. IMPORTANT. JORDANI B & B is located in one of the most affluent suburbs of Windhoek with many large luxury homes. Only a pleasant 5-10 minute walk from our B & B is a small shopping centre with; Big store selling any/all necessary food and household provisions, service station (serving both diesel & petrol), pharmacy, Nando's, Pizzeria/Bar and ATM (to withdraw cash). Also, en-route from Jordani B & B to the shopping centre, is a leading and highly reputable private dental clinic. Your support is much appreciated. Thank you. Kind regards, PAM Owner/Manager

We booked this B&B in person 4 weeks before arrival. We were shown the room we would be getting and given a price in writing. On arrival at the specified check-in time, the owner did not want to honour the quoted price, did not have the room available and told us we were two hours early. It was the most unwelcoming place we had stayed at in Namibia. We felt we were a real inconvenience.
We were given the quoted price and specified room under duress. No welcome drinks were offered - even though we saw other guests getting them! In the morning, breakfast tables had been set out and we were left to our own devices. At least 3 of the jams were mouldy and most of the fruit was rotten. There was no one in sight to assist. We were encouraged by the knives and forks but no one was available to take our egg orders. We waited and waited but no one came....
The communal areas were never shown to us but, once we found them, there was usually someone sleeping on the couch so it wasn't comfortable to spend time in there. We retreated to our room and marked time until we left. I had a spa bath to pass the time but the stench was awful when it drained. At night, the staff chatted loudly just outside our room for 3 hours. We couldn't sleep.
We asked if a transfer shuttle could be ordered for the airport and were told they didn't know the price and couldn't get hold of them. The owner had a puppy which enthralled our child, however, some guests might not appreciate this from a hygiene perspective as it ran freely in and out of the guest rooms, eating from the bin, jumping onto the beds, etc and was prone to biting.
On the second morning, we waited for the appointed breakfast time to find many guests just finishing their cooked breakfast! Clearly they had been there at least half an hour. We asked if we could have some eggs and were told they were on the buffet - I asked what happened the previous day which was met with a shrug. The cooked breakfast was cold and congealed, I have no idea what time breakfast really started or how long it had been sitting there.
On the positive side, the rooms are clean and spacious. There are tea and coffee-making facilities and a fridge (filled with mini-bar items).
There is secure parking for one car only and you must get assistance to lock and unlock the gate each time. Other cars must park on the street and as the other homes in the area are all protected by guard dogs and barbed wire, I don't know how safe the street it is.
You must specify non-smoking if that is your preference because the staff smoke and many of the rooms smell badly of stale smoke.
In summary, this B&B needs a lot of work on the service side, I would give it a wide berth. The owner just doesn't care and this filters down through the staff.
Before leaving, the maid hit my young daughter up for some cash. We couldn't wait to get going.

I have just recently found this comment on your website. I believe that comments like this are very necessary if a customer feels that way. We have, out of our own looked at our operation and made many adjustments. (I see this is a 2008 comment) We believe that customer satisfaction is of utmost importance and good service is what is keeping us going so strongly. Jordani B&B is also used by well known Tour Operators for their individually travelling guests. We also host many guests coming from Italy, Germany, Namibia and South Africa. Here we must also mention the business market, as being one of our highest returning guest markets. Dear Australian Family, we trust that on your next visit you should come and have a look at our B&B and check out the positive service and attitude!

I had a pleasant enough one night stay at Jordani B&B back in early August. The room was quite dated and the view from the window was a high wall less than 2m away (see photo). There was no milk provided to go with the complimentary tea and coffee. However, the price wasn’t too high and I was only staying one night so these weren’t great problems. Breakfast was very nice, although some ambient music in the dining hall would be a welcome addition. My problems started after checking out. I had booked through Booking.com and noted before arriving that my credit card had been charged the full amount for the room, however on checking out I was assured that this would be refunded and was just a security deposit. I therefore paid in cash on departure. Two months later, I found on checking my credit card statement that not only had my original payment not been refunded, I had actually been charged again 6 weeks after my stay. Both these payments are listed as being to Jordani rather than Booking.com. Of course I phoned up to ask what had happened, and was told the manager would call me back. No-one called back after two weeks, so last week I phoned again. I was asked to send proof of the money being taken out, so I emailed them my bank statements and the cash payment receipt on the same day. No acknowledgement of my email. Another week later, I phoned up today to check what is happening since I’ve heard nothing. The person on the phone was scarcely apologetic and very evasive when asked how they are getting on with arranging my refund. They seem to have no intention of refunding my money as they are ‘waiting to hear from the bank’, despite my proof being sent. I wasn’t too worried when initially noticing the multiple payments as I assumed it would be a simple matter for them to apologise and refund, however now it has become a prolonged and unpleasant process. Their response (or rather lack of response) to my request is as though I am an unreasonable inconvenience, and this has upset me far more than the money owed. I will certainly never be staying at Jordani B&B again. I would advise you to avoid it unless you enjoy terrible customer service.

Dear Guest, Firstly, please accept our sincerest apologies for the delay in responding to you regarding your email as well as the over-payments. I can assure you that this is NOT our usual level of customer service. Our bank tried to trace the over-payments and somehow(?) they could not find your payments. Eventually they did. As you know, they have since processed your refunds and I sent you the proof thereof. Once again, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience we caused you and we thank you for your valuable support. It is truly appreciated. Kind regards, Pam Owner/Manager

I had chosen this place since it had so many good and positive reviews. I do agree that the staff is very friendly and helpful indeed, but after having stayed other places in town I had expected something different. The room felt dark and stuffy in a way and the fumes/smell from cooking in the kitchen was quite annoying. Beds were comfortable so I slept well and breakfast was nice- good coffee from a modern machine and self service with a good choice of cheeses, ham etc and you could get hot breakfast aswell - eggs and bacon!

Dear Guest, Thank you very much for posting your positive review on your stay at JORDANI. I am pleased that you found our hotel standard quality beds comfortable, our Espresso machine good and our buffet breakfast delicious. Importantly, we place enormous importance on delivering a friendly service and I am pleased that we did not disappoint you. Thank you for your further comment about the aromas of our cooked breakfast - we do have a powerful extractor in our kitchen and we will take additional measures to see how we can further reduce the aromas (as it is hot in Windhoek) we do leave the kitchen windows open... Thank you for your support, it is highly valued. Best regards, Pam Owner/Manager
