It's a wonderful place! I always come back! beautiful, comfortable, great helpful and kind staff, I just love it! it feels home, safe, easy and perfect! The rooms are big and beautiful, the neighbourhood is calm and peaceful, the swimming pool is great, the living room is perfect for business meetings and everything is easy and accessible.

Travelling to Maputo this Guesthouse came recommended and it fully lived up to expectations. The place is cocy, need and very welcomming. The room was Big and very nicely decorated. Kichen created lovely meals. Service was very High.

Nice and friendly staff who mostly speaks also english. Big room with a nice balcony and aircon. Big beds, but madrasses need to update. Clean and spacious bathroom. Location is very safe and quiet, surrounded by embassies. No problem to walk alone at daytime to the coastline or to the Feira-market. Wi-Fi works variably as everywhere in M-bique

I really like this place! The rooms are super spacious, clean, beautiful. Balconies & pretty mosquito nets, nice decor, cute little pool. The staff are really helpful and kind. I'm happy staying there whenever I'm in Maputo!

Perfect if you're looking for somewhere quiet, clean and comfortable close to the airport. I only had 1 night here before heading to Tofo, but it was the perfect oasis of calm: spacious room, very comfy bed, good shower and a short walk to a shop and cafe. A longer walk (or short taxi) takes you down to the waterfront (by the Radisson) where there are a couple of nice beach club-type options (I went to South Beach and had a very pleasant lunch - see separate review). Staff spoke virtually no English which for me was fine as speaking Spanish we could manage to communicate ok...but worth bearing in mind if you don't have any language skills.

We went to Sommerchield Guest House and Restaurant for a birthday of a friend's son. We felt well received and the place is very nice and calm. The staff is very friendly. If you want to have some moments of peace in Maputo city, this is the right place to go.

The room was very comfortable and spacious. The restaurant has a good mix of items at a reasonable price. Clean, fresh towels daily and they kindly did basic laundry (wask & iron). Rita went out of her way to sort out an issue with the booking agent when the dates were mixed up. The service was excellent!

Sommerschield Guest House is an oasis of calm and comfort in bustling, busy Maputo. On the ground floor there is a good sized swimming pool, a bar area and indoor and outdoor seating for the restaurant. In addition to the breakfast (included in our booking) we ate two meals here and they were both good and reasonably priced. We stayed on the top floor (2nd floor) in room 8 which was very spacious with high ceilings, a comfortable bed, lovely shower room, balcony and a bar fridge. There was even a (distant) sea view! We were well protected from mozzies with the opening windows covered with mesh and a huge mosquito net over the whole bed and the bedside tables. (Much more convenient than having to reach outside the net every time you need to grab something.) The staff were helpful (our muddy car got a wash without our asking). There is a nice little cafe just down the street that we walked to but other restaurants did need a short drive. There is no off street parking but we were helped to park in a protected area at night and there were guards about during the day.…

Lovely guest house in a quiet part of the city. Tea/coffee and a small fridge in the room. Small shop very close by that sells just about everything and also the amazing Cafe Sol is two minutes walk away. Comfy pillows, white bed linen and towels, walk in showers, a very comfortable place for business or for a holiday - or like us, waiting for our furniture to arrive after we relocated. Five mins drive to American, French and Portuguese schools and the new Baia Mall. Breakfast included and there is an all day restaurant serving great prego rolls, pasta, Portuguese steak, toasties and there is a small bar that closes at 21:00.

I frequently travel to Maputo for business. My job demands a fair internet connection. I don’t need 200mMbps or similar. Just a slow enough internet to send and receive messages below 1Mb. I couldn’t find it here. Ok, you can tell me: go to a coffeeshop nearby. Where? This place is far away from everywhere. You cant find anything close. No bar, no restaurant, no coffeehouse, whatever. Still, you can say take a taxi, a bus, an uber, a ride... whatever! No! It doesn’t work like this. You are by your own in this place It is a guest house. If you look for peaceful place which shuts down at 9pm. Congrats! You find the best place in the world!! Peaceful and silent for mindfulness. For those nature lovers, looking for ioga habitats, you found it. Grab your belongings and come over! Need a place for work, with reasonable internet. Take it away from your list! Not for you. By the way. The rooms are clean and large. This is the good point. The shower changes the temperature too frequently, from below -30 artic frozen to +70 Saara desert. Anyhow, you can handle it. Not different from others. The lunch is nice. The breakfast simple but ok. The dinner I don’t recommend. …
