We booked our honeymoon to Madagascar through Imagine Africa (who I would not hesitate to recommend) and stayed at the Palissandre on 3 separate nights of the trip. We found it to be an excellent hotel, constructed from the wood of the same name and having spacious rooms with huge beds. We were first struck with the friendliness of the...

Arriving to the chaos of Antananavario, Madagascar, we were delighted to find an oasis of calm at the Palissandre. Situated in a narrowish street which was a mixture of old buildings; some derelict, some occupied and some collapsed, we were sceptical. As we walked into the hotel we welcomed by the staff; friendly and helpful. Bags disappeared up to the...

This is a great hotel in an interesting and convenient part of town. I was lucky enough to score a city view room, even though I didn't specifically ask for one. Staff seemed very obliging. Room was clean and functional, with wooden floors and fixtures (from the Palissandre tree of the hotel's name - apparently). Nice, cosy bar area, and...

The family (six of us) stayed here a total of three times while touring Madagascar and each time was exceptional. As other reviews have mentioned, the staff are terrific and combine professionalism with a real individual touch, the location and views are perfect, and the ambiance, with the beautiful hardwood throughout, is just lovely. We really liked the spa (I...

My fourth visit to Antananarivo and first stay at this hotel. I wish I had stayed here before. Beautiful joinery work everywhere. In immaculate condition with everything working. Well nearly everything: the heated swimming pool was out of commission but it is mid-winter. No musty smells. Good food. Friendly and helpful staff. Good view of Tana. Any problems? Just one;...

I always stay at the Palissandre on my frequent trips to Madagascar and I have written a full review in the past. I thought that I’d make another entry, as the more I stay here, the more impressed I am with the place. What really sets this hotel apart is the great service and the extremely helpful and friendly staff....

A clean, well run hotel, positioned in the centre of the city. The staff were helpful and there were good rates offered for money exchange. What sets it apart is the view of the entire city from the restaurant/bar.

Ths hotel is perched on the hillside in the middle of Tana. We stayed here on 3 occasions whist on holiday in Madagascar, using it as a stopover prior to the next stage of our journey. It is very central in town. The journey from the airport in the midst of the day takes an hour and it's really interesting....

My husband and I stayed here as a stop over hotel between places we were visiting in Madagascar for our honeymoon. We were not expecting much. Much to our surprise, it was a wonderful hotel. The food, service, room, and spa were fantastic. We bought some jewelry in the lobby as well that was beautiful from a local designer. The...
