RLJ Kendeja Resort & Villas is a 78-room, four-star-plus resort set on 13 acres of West African Atlantic coast near Monrovia, the capital city of Liberia. The resort forms part of building the new Liberia and is the brainchild of Robert L. Johnson, founder of BET (Black Entertainment Television) and the RLJ Companies in the United States of America. Although still owned by RLJ Group of Companies, REDEFINE INTERNATIONAL HOTELS BLD has been managing the resort since April 1, 2013. The resort features an "à-la-carte" Restaurant adjacent to a sunny terrace on the pool deck with a lavish Sunday Brunch Buffet, as well as an in-doors main, fully AC Bar. It also has a Beach Bar & Grill, 24 Hours Room Service, a well appointed Spa, a Gym, a Pool, Laundry Services and a Gift and Souvenir Shop. Other features are 24-hour-power / fully AC / wireless internet / high security and international service standards.The Resort also has 2 luxurious banqueting rooms for up to 30/40 persons, which are suitable for conferences and other events.

Beautiful resort. I stayed here for 3 days in November, and will definitely visit again the next time I am in Liberia. The staff was friendly and food at the poolside restaurant was delicious. My room was spacious with a large shower and a comfortable bed.

Roberta, Reuben and Sylvia provided excellent Customer service. Reuben greeted us every morning and made us feel very welcomed. If it was possible I would give beyond 5 stars! Stayed last week at this wonderful resort. Everything exceeds ones wildest dream of a resort. The scenery, decor and beach is beautiful. The rooms were clean and modern looking. On top they have the most wonderful staff, extremely kind and helpful with every wish.

I stayed at Kendeja resort a whole week for work in November and was incredibly impressed by the service. We had work meetings every day which took place in a very nice conference room. We always used other parts of the resort for smaller meetings and break out sessions which was a big plus. The facilities are excellent and professional. And then, there is the setting. Kendeja lies on a beautiful beach and the scenary (sunset!) is exquisite. The bungalows are in very good shape and very spacious. The staff was very firendly and helpful. The manager, Robbie, did her best to meet our needs and showed extraordinary flexibility, always with a smile! I would strongly recommend staying at Kendeja to anyone looking for a relaxing and yet professional stay a mere 30 minutes from busy Monrovia!…

Me and my two colleagues stayed in Kendeja Resort for two weeks in early November. Our luggage did not arrive but the manager lady kindly provided us with some toothpaste, sunscreen and other necessities. In addition, she organized someone to get our bags from the airport office when they finally arrived. The location of the hotel is a bliss. We loved the bungalows and waking up to the sound of the ocean. Rooms were thoroughly cleaned every day. The one thing we lost our patience with was the service - or lack of it - at the restaurant. Although the menu is long, in reality only a few of the options were available and it always took more than an hour for the simplest order to arrive. One of the waiters just rolled her eyes when giving feedback on the extra slow service. I personally didn't have problems with the internet but my colleagues did. This complicates things when on a business trip, so I would strongly recommend the hotel to work on improving this matter. I visited the beach at RLJ Kendeja twice this weekend and was appalled by the complete lack of service at the beachfront. From the time we ordered, it took about 45 minutes to get our drinks and almost 2 hours to get our food! Despite charging USD25 in entrance fee (refundable when you order food though), there are not enough sunbeds and those that exist are dysfunctional. The mattresses are old and full of holes. (The guy managing the beds is amazing though - very helpful!) There is ONE poor waiter/waitress covering the entire beach area, so no wonder you have to wait for your food... The grilled fish was nice but the so called buffalo wings had no buffalo sauce and were served whole, with wingtip and all. With some additional staff in the kitchen and at the beachfront, this could have been a great experience. And some maintenance of the beach furniture would also have helped...…

We were allocated rooms that had not been used for a while...the musky air, with dusty and torn bedding. We complained about it and we recieved an insincere apology as our feedback to replace bedsheets was reported as 'overturning beds'. The worst thing about this experience is knowing that we could have received value for money elsewhere. Don't go to that hotel. Just don't.

Terrible service even after giving feedback about the rooms. They will only apologise and still give you substandard services. The bedsheet are old, dirty and torn. They only offer drinking water on day one of your visit. 😥

My last month-long visit in March 2020 before COVID shut down the world to this my home for the past 12+ years was a complete and utter disappointment. The ownership and hence management change has destroyed a truly sacred property. The treatment of the Liberia staff is beyond awful. My heart is broken.

Working with our NGO (hydro-engineering projects) has been so much easier, since I decided to reside at RLJ Kendeja for a period of two weeks. The new management has successfully established infrastructural improvements. My wonderful home base served me well as a unique place to work and enjoy my free time in paradise conditions. The location of my very much preferred accommodation is just perfect - just about 50 min from the airport - close to all the spots I am engaged with and also perfect to receive Representatives and partners for meetings in a special tropical atmosphere with a reliable internet and everything needed for successful outcomes. Especially in this troubled times (pandemic) I appreciate the staff cleanliness and their attitude to fully adhere to the directives given by Ministry of Health to curb the spread of Covid. I travel 4 to 5 times per year to Monrovia and always stay the first night after arrival at RLJ Kendeja. Over time, service quality was not satisfactory, but since there is a new management some of the services has improved and am happy to share this. My daily highlight this time around was a new waitress on probation. MUSU her name and she has a contagious friendly smile. Her quick response and service delivery is positive and should be recognised. More employees like Musu and more guests will enjoy their stay at one of the most beautiful facilities on the West African Coast.
