Wonderful beach-side location, great atmosphere. Decent bar and (slow) restaurant. Rooms are very basic but clean and with mosquito net. Didn't stay here overnight but visited many weekends for the beach. Beach mats and umbrella for rent for GNF 40,000. Boats available to/from Conakry for GNF 100,000 roundtrip.

The place is great but watch out not to meet the drunk owner or else you will live you worst nightmare. The most impolite owner i have never seen!!! We were obliged to find another hotel at midnight.👎🏼

I stayed for three nights in November. I have to say that the rooms at 70 euros a night are not good value I'm afraid. They are sparsely furnished though clean when you arrive. However during my stay the room was not cleaned at all, particularly not very pleasant when they prefer that one doesn't flush the lavatory paper!
The rooms are desperately in need of renovation. They do however have wonderful views from their balconies.
Restaurant is wickedly overpriced, I get the impression that they are making a lot of money but do not want to spend any! Meanness. I didn't see the rooms at Villa Elijah but recommend people to stay there though they have no beach. The beach at Sogue is very fine though I have to say that.Staff are friendly and helpful.

There aren't really any ways to get away from Conakry, unless you want to drive for days deep into the forrests of Guinea. Perched off the tip of the Conakry penisular, these islands are a lovely place to spend a few days. I had a bit of trouble working out which islands were which and what hotels were on which island and whether they were open and how to contact them to make a reservation. I had seen a few mentions of Le Sogue which is the island located in the middle and it was the only one that has a website. I called on a Thursday afternoon whilst traveling into Conakry from Kamsar to book a room plus the pirogue transfer.
The pirgoue leaves from the port just beyond Hotel Petit Bateau. You need to pay 1 euro to go inside the port. the pirogue costs about 30 euros each way, which was a bit steep given I was on my own, but the journey lasts 45 mins to and an hour. On the way back a few locals hitched a ride on my pirogue, which didn't bother me but I did wonder whether they would have travelled had I not arranged the trip back.
I had the whole place to myself on the first night. Was told that it's often full on weekends but empty during the week. The place is idylic, similar to what you see in brochures with pictures of caribbean, but without any people. The owner is plesant, and there are handful of relaxed staff who were very helpful. Ismail, who speaks English, and does the cooking took time to show me around the island, including taking me to the village and climbing one of the hill tops. The food he made was delicious (and Vegan). They have cold beers in their fridge.
I really liked the fact that the rooms were basic and they hotel had no wifi, making it a true retreat. Prices weren't unreasonable. The room was 70 euros, and 3 meals, plus a few beers and bottles of water came to about 40 euros. In total I paid 167 euros to get their and back for a night. but coming with other people would reduce this cost massively due to splitting costs.
Worth staying an extra night in the country to come here. Whilst interesting, it doesn't have many natural redeeming features!

We stayed here 3 week days, very quiet with no other guests for 2 days. The trip in the traditional boat was fun, the island small and green. The resort is well situated on an idyllic beautiful clean sandy beach. Cabins are well positioned with basic interior and cold shower. The veranda is a nice spot to be. Good mattress and mosquito net. The restaurant served a simple breakfast and tasty dishes. On request they prepared us grilled fish and grilled chicken mayonaise sandwiches which were very tasty! Prices are based on western prices. Staff was friendly and correct. We really had a great time after wild and dusty Conakry. Tip: bring earplugs if you spend the night, the sound of the shore is amplified is your room...

Only a few kms from Conakry, Le Sogue is the best hotel on the Iles de Los (which is the collective name for the islands off Conakry). Le Sogue is located on Rhum, which is hidden from view from Conakry by the larger island of Kassa.
Le Sogue has a real rustic charm. Think of it as a bed and breakfast by the beach rather than as a hotel. Rooms are basic but comfortable. Meals are served in the open-sided bar/restaurant with lovely views over the beach and sea. I've eaten here dozens of times and always been very happy - mostly fish based, but always one or two meat options too. Beers are cold and they will bring them to you on the beach. This isn't resort style living, but you WILL forget that you are in Conakry...and your mind will be all the better and refreshed for it.
Many visitors come for the day, but if you can I recommend staying the weekend. Travel out on Saturday morning (the hotel will reserve you a seat on their simple boat) and back on Sunday afternoon. If you want to get away from the world, make arrangements to go mid-week and take some good books with you. Likelihood is that you will be the only person there.
The hotel is owned and run by the same guys that run Le Loft in Conakry. Drop in and see Ami or Gene to make plans for a visit to Le Sogue.
Finally, do bear Conakry's wet season in mind. This isn't the place to be from mid-June through to mid-October. In fact, the hotel largely closes.
