Detailed Reviews
I stayed in one of the rooms which was clean, had AC, light and running water. Wifi works throughout the whole area. The food was a very positive surprise - the reasonably priced vegetarian avocado sandwiches and wraps were so tasty that I ordered a second round. The breakfast was also nice, if not large it contained bread with several types of jam, several tropical fruits and some smoothie which was sufficient to stay the day. There is a fridge where one can put some food/drinks subject to space and they have clean tap water in the sink. The pool works fine but is somewhat small and more to cool yourself than to swim. Staff is very nice and the area is safe with gated walls. Most balconies are on the street side and there is some sound but not more than one should expect when living in a bigger city.
The location is close to the airport and reasonably close to the city center although not on walking distance to the main sights. There are many backpackers and travelers staying at the site making it a good hub if you are interested in connect with others for travel. All in all this seems to be one of the better options for those seeking hostel type stays in Accra.

I came in from Central Region . This was my 1st visit yet will be a go-to as its centrally located and not far from Kwame Nkrumah " Circle ". Used Bolt to couple local locations that were 10 to 28 cedis for 2 people.
Very clean!
Staff nice and welcoming
Breakfast available daily
Pool is clean along with the grounds shaded with fruit trees and other foliage
Serene vibe, international guest and great lounge spaces to chill in/with
Was happy to see chalkboard that listed local things to do -- went dancing at Afrikiko!!
Liked my room that offered view of pool on second floor, hot water & AC available in wash room, bed was comfy and recyclable repurposed in room/ grounds; applaud their efforts to minimise waste and uses of Black soap...much more to say yet you get the gest... was a great stay!

We stayed two nights at “Somewhere Nice” in a private double room. A perfect place to stay in Accra! Reasonably priced, simple but stylish, clean and super friendly! This was our first visit to Ghana so everything was new to us.
We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere at “Somewhere Nice”. Having breakfast around the big kitchen table made it easy to speak to other fellow travellers. We felt very safe in the area too. We ate great food at the nearby restaurant “One Corner” just a 10 minutes walk from the hostel. In fact we even went by foot to Oxford street and to the Jamestown Lighthouse. Obviously during the day of course! After travelling around at the coast we later came back to Accra and stayed one night at a fancy boutique hotel close to Oxford street. In fact we were a bit sad that we didn’t book “Somewhere Nice” for that night too…

I paid to stay at somewhere nice in advance for the 9 th of October,2020. When I booked and paid for the room in advance in September I asked for the cheapest rate which would be the dorm bed/ room. The reception taking my money for the advance booking said he knows the room I usually stay in, so I figured he would know what room to take my booking for when I asked the cheapest room rate.
So i trusted him with the booking.I told him clearly my check in was for the 9 th of October. WHEN I arrived, check in was slow I told the reception on duty clearly that I was checking out on the 13 th of October and he told me how much I was to pay, so I paid and after affirming my checkout and payment to the 13 th of October he gave me a receipt for that. Wanting to extend my stay on the 12 th of October to the 15 th of October, I gave the reception on duty the money asking for a receipt to extend my stay. The reception came back to me to say I was supposed to check out on the 12 th of October and not the 13 th and that that was in the accommodation computer log I told him I had a receipt for checkout on the 13 th.He said there was a mistake on the part of the other reception that checked me in and that, that reception would be unavailable for days eventhough I asked to communicate with him not on duty it was futile. my stay at the accommodation became distorted. Obviously an inexcusable miscommunication somewhere because I reiterated 4 times and told the reception on check inthati would be checking out on the 13 th of October.Later the later reception called and said I had a refund of 99 Cedis when I said I would be leaving on the 14 th of October,2020 because of the whole situation which I felt was a horrible experience he came back and said my refund wasn't 99 Cedis anymore but 14 Cedis. For an intelligent person I feel very insulted. I was also kept 5 nights in the same room and they never came to clean it eventhough again I told them clearly about cleaning up the room. I asked to move to another room so I could checkout on the 15 th they said I would later they came back and said I was owing them money eventhough at check-in the reception gave me a receipt that said checkout 13 th October,2020 extending my stay for another 2 days meant I ought to be checking out on the 15 th of October which reception said was impossible that checkout would be on the 14 th cause I owe them money eventhough they knew the miscommunication was on their part they put me in a fix on a place to stay from the 14 th to the 15 th of October,2020. So my stay at somewhere nice has ended up being a horrible experience.

Response from Pedro Guilherme, Other at somewhere nice
Responded Oct 20, 2020
Dear Gloria, I am really sorry to learn about your bad experience at somewhere nice during your last stay, which seems to be due to miscommunication issues. I can see that you are our returning guest, so I am sure you enjoyed your previous stays and that we are doing the right things to make our guests feel welcome. From our records, I can confirm that my colleague originally booked you for the night of October 4th and later the reservation was moved to 2 nights arriving on the 9th, a partial payment was made for these nights. The room booked was a Twin Room as Single Use, our cheapest option for private rooms. The price was discounted as you were our regular guest, and so were all the other nights you paid. On arrival a third night was added, again the same room type. I am really sorry if there happened to be a miscommunication here between you and our colleague at reception. However, I can confirm that the price paid was only for 1 night. I have asked for our copy of the receipt and while it states 2 nights, it is the nights of 10th and 11th. This, as was explained to me, was because the original payment only covered 1 night and you had not yet been given a receipt for the night of the 10th. On the 12th, 2 more nights were added. Taking into account the misunderstanding, our colleague offered you to stay in the same room for the price of a bed in a dormitory, a discount of 35%. In case the extension was just for the night of 13th, you would indeed be entitled to a refund as mentioned, however there had never been a payment for the night of the 12th and that would be the reason for the miscommunication and also what initiated the whole issue. I completely understand that, for this reason, your experience was frustrating and I would like to apologise for my colleagues and the way your booking and extension was handled, otherwise you would not have thought of leaving a 1* review for a property you have enjoyed in the past. There was a lack of communication inside the team and we will address it internally so it does not repeat. I would have loved to have learned about your situation during your stay, that way we could have avoided your frustration. I hope we can welcome you once again at somewhere nice in the future and make it up for your last stay and your review. Kind regards, Pedro PS: Unless requested differently by the guest, we change our bedsheets every 3 nights of the stay. I am sorry if this was not case and we will make sure this is consistent for all our guests.

After reading such great things about this hostel, we were quite disappointed. The rooms looked lovely on the website, but were very basic in reality and the bathroom left a little to be desired (I noticed later there were no photos of them on the website). There were a few insects and the sheets/towels were slightly damp - I know this can happen in rainy season, but it still isn't very pleasant.
The location also wasn't optimal as there's nothing around there that you really want to do, so you always need to get a taxi somewhere. The outside area and breakfast are nice but still, on returning to Accra we chose a simple hotel in Osu instead and were much happier there (plus it was cheaper). The staff were very nice but still, especially given the prices - unless you're looking for a hostel vibe, I would choose elsewhere.

I decided to book a hostel in Accra during a recent work trip so I could meet like-minded people and be in a more vibrant neighbourhood. And boy am I happy I did!
My first room on the ground floor was quite dark and noisy, especially in the early morning. My second room, the deluxe room, was spacious, had everything I needed included a kettle and fridge, and a view of the garden and pool. The breakfast was copious and tasty, and I was able to order food for delivery for my other meals.
I was delighted with my stay. I would heartily recommend, but with the caveat that it's very noisy in the mornings so either go to bed early or bring earplugs!

This was the second time I stayed for two weeks in somewhere nice and again I enjoyed it very much. Very friendly people running the hostel, great breakfast, big rooms with airconditioning and fan (I stayed in a room with a double bed and private bathroom), nice garden with small pool. The hostel is in the middle of a lively residential area with street kitchens, fruitsellers, small kiosks, etc. Easy to get around by taxi. It is a simple place, but excellent for researchers such as myself, who don't have a big budget and who prefer to hear and see life in Accra.

I arrived at Somewhere Nice intending to stay for a couple of weeks, and ended up staying for 3 months, I wish I could have stayed forever.
I was able to work remotely easily using the wifi, enjoyed the amazing (free!) breakfast every day, great fresh food from Nii's stall and drinks/vibes from Chi Chi's bar in the evening. I also loved reading by the pool during the day, it's really well maintained and a great bonus. It's really a home from home, I felt really looked after by all the staff and I was genuinely so sad to leave.
If you are looking for a standard/faceless hotel, this isn't the spot for you. Somewhere Nice is just that, a lovely home in a local neighbourhood with all the spirit of Africa you could hope for.
I will be back as soon as I am able!

I stayed at Somewhere Nice for a week in November 2022. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a kettle, lovely bathroom and shower. It had space to unpack our belongings and a table to work or eat at. The air conditioning and fan kept the room cool and the air fresh - a respite from the Accra heat! All the staff we interacted with were extremely friendly and helpful, answering all of our questions and making sure we had everything we needed. The communal areas, including the pool and bar, were lovely and clean. The breakfast every day was excellent. I cannot wait to stay here again!

We have really enjoyed our stay at Somewhere Nice. The rooms are designed in a bit different way than the standard hotels do but for us it was very refreshing to experience something different. Staff is very helpful, bar is opened till 11:00 pm. Breakfast is included but they do not have restaurant. Do not forget to buy the food before you come.

Hello,
Thank you for your question. I am happy to inform you that our Deluxe Double Rooms and Apartments have small refrigerator, but not the remaining rooms. However, there is a shared fridge in the guest kitchen located in the lobby for all the guests to use.
I hope this is helpful. Please let us know in case you have any further questions.
Kind regards,
Pedro
