Stayed for one night, paid $70 for a single room with breakfast. Check in was very quick. I don't think many people where staying there as I never saw any other guest, so it was quiet. There are only two floors and no elevators so you will have to carry your luggage up and down, but that wasn’t an issue. The room was very clean, ample and modern; it even had a decent closet and small fridge but was disconnected and I was not able to turn it on. It overlooked 6th street which was busy but not overly noisy so I had a good sleep. The AC was working and there was plenty of water but not hot at all. There were a couple of things that I didn’t like, first there was no WIFI throughout my stay, although it was advertised, second, when I went down for breakfast the lady at the front desk looked surprised when I asked her about it. For breakfast you go to the next door Venus Bar; it was 8:30am on a Friday and I was excited as I saw the breakfast menu in the room (see photo). I sat there waiting for someone to ask for my order. And I waited, a couple of minutes later the manager (?) showed up and asked me if everything was OK, I told him I was waiting for someone to take my order. He talked to the ladies and said someone will come, and then he left. A couple of minutes later, a lady came up with a plate with an omelet, toasted bread, some hot water and instant coffee. No one came to ask for my order; they just brought whatever they wanted. I was disappointed, to say the least, as I was really looking forward for a decent breakfast and coffee. It’s not that the food was bad, but just looked at the menu that they supposedly offer and you will understand!! (again, see the attached photo). Anyways, later on that morning I asked again about the wifi, and no one knew anything. I couldn’t look for places to eat or go as I had no idea where to go and the front desk had no idea either. I ended up in the room more than expected and unfortunately there was only one channel in the TV. I am grateful that I asked for a late check out and I got it without much issue. Location is good, close to Oxford and I was able to walk to a big grocery store and to Global Mamas for souvenirs (I had this address on hand before getting there). For lunch & dinner I went to Buka which was also walking distance (awesome vegetarian jollof rice). All in all, the room was clean modern and mostly functional, but don’t expect much of other amenities that are supposed to be included such as breakfast & wifi.…
Having just completed 4 weeks of volunteering further North, I was longing for a night in Accra with aircon, a comfy bed and decent shower since I had none of these. Those three aspects was all I wanted but Byblos’ room came with the bonus of a tv and a fridge. In addition, due to my departure time being 5am the following night, James the manager who was over and beyond generous, kindly let me use the room up until 2am without asking for further payment. A really well situated, refurbished and staffed hotel. Thank you James and co., Louis
I stayed four nights and it was a great introduction to Accra. My room recently refurbished with fabulous bathroom with walk-in shower, cable TV, and fantastic air con to escape the heat! Needed. There is excellent wifi in the garden/restaurant area. The bar/restaurant area is a great place to chill out. Food is excellent, highly recommend the Lebanese hummus/flatbreads and greek salad. There is also a very funky bar attached to the hotel which runs at weekends, for locals and tourists. This hotel is also right in the middle of the shopping area of Osu. Highly recommended, and ignore the photos - the rooms are totally modern and been refurbished. The team at Byblos are hugely helpful and welcoming for regular visitors and first timers like me. Recommended.
I stayed for 11 nights. Although the room I had could do with a coat of white paint....its a charming hotel with very kind staff. Great location near ATMs, salad resturants , not too far from the airport. They like a reasonable deposit on arrival if staying for a while. Simple but adequate breakfast, clean rooms, clean bathrooms and toilets. U could imagine your somewhere in the Mediterranean.
In general everything was ok. Rooms are ok, price is good, internet is slow but works, staff is friendly, and the patio is really nice, however the thing that I really did not like - is the feeling that the owner does not treat his staff properly. For that reason I felt uncomfortable, and would not stay there again.
