Great boutique hotel, excellent service and large rooms. Each one is decorated and furnished after a city. It’s very original and charming. Location is perfect, close to airport. Personnel is friendly, beds are comfortable, amenities and nespresso machine in the room round up a fantastic experience.

By far, this is best hotel stays I had in Accra. Although it may be considered pricey, you definitely get what you pay for. I loved how the rooms are named after prominent African cities. The room was nicely decorated and super clean (serviced). The room was equipped with soft drinks and snacks, and we were able to receive breakfast in the morning. I highly recommend to anyone who want to experience a luxurious hotel stay in Accra.

Good: Location was great—close to airport, E Legon, and a bunch of great restaurants and nightlife. Staff were mostly friendly and helpful in making your stay more convenient (private transport services at affordable rates, organizing Covid test at the hotel, etc). I’d previously stayed at Kempinski and definitely appreciated the more personalized services offered here. The building facade is elegant. Rooms are spacious and well-equipped.
Not good: The facilities are a bit run down, there was even a corner of the ceiling on first floor patched up with cardboard boxes—never seen that in a hotel. Poor lighting in the rooms. I specifically asked staff not to enter my room for cleaning during my 2-night stay, and put up a do not disturb sign—but when I left the hotel the cleaner entered and rearranged my stuff, which felt like my space was violated. Upon check-out, the staff overcharged my transport (applied higher hourly rates with some trips, used the wrong exchange rate in some cases) — if I hadn’t inspected the bill, I’d have paid way more than I should. It was so blatant that as soon as I pointed it out they corrected it, but this sort of thing breaks down trust, so I wouldn’t stay there again.

I stayed in the eclectic soho room for a few nights and I was so well looked after. It really restored my faith in customer service after some negative experiences at other venues. The staff are just phenomenal. They will literally do anything to make you comfortable. You can tell that it’s a happy working environment.
I saw a few rooms before I made my choice. All were clean and thoughtfully designed with a very high-end finish.
The food was delicious. Every dish was served within a timely manner and always well presented. There were even a few meals made on special request because I did not see them on the menu. The restaurant staff made great recommendations when I was unsure. Had I not been too busy enjoying the food I would’ve taken more photos!
I am looking forward to staying at Villa Monticello again in the future.

Villa Monticello curated one of my top five best hotel experiences abroad.It began with a warm welcome from the hotel's knowledgeable front desk staff who assisted us throughout our stay. Some days I explored Accra as a tourist and other days as a local; the staff properly accommodated us with personal drivers and tour guides. Not to mention the rooms were spacious and kept tidy.
Finding great food options was also super easy with the onsite restaurant "Chapter 1." The hotel is located close to Accra's city center and the airport.

Not too much to detail this time around as everything was as expected. The room was very nice and my dinner experience topped the last one (get the salmon!). Due to the "year of return" high influx of people in Accra, I could tell that the hotel was handling quite a bit of requests from other guests, but I didn't have to wait too long for anything. I'd say they did a pretty good job. Thanks!

My experience at the Villa Monticello began even before checking in. I read an article in a travel magazine and it sounded like the perfect place to stay for our first trip to Ghana. The hotel’s online reservation system kept kicking me out. Out of frustration I made our reservation with another hotel. A few days later I received an email from the VM Assistant GM Frank asking how he could help. After informing him of our online reservation issues Frank managed the process personally to ensure that our reservation was completed. His attentiveness to meet our requirements was exceptional. We immediately cancelled the other hotel reservation. I’ve stayed at the Four Seasons, The Ritz Carlton and St. Regis hotels. I thought that the service that I received was top notch until our six day stay at VM. Our room, the Marrakesh suite was superb. The VM staff are what set it apart. From the front desk staff, drivers, security, restaurant and housekeeping staff treated us like we were the only guests on the property. It is no doubt the VM is the recipient of so many awards. VM staff of note include Ocbel, Ese, Irene, Linda, Michael, Evant. I’ve worked in the hospitality industry for 15 years and have been providing service to customers for over 25 years. This is some of the best customer service that I’ve experienced. This hotel has truly created and embedded a customer focused culture. Not an easy feat. Congratulations to the senior management for making a commitment to service excellence.

Villa Monticello embodies everything you are looking for in a hotel. A peaceful atmosphere along with Staff that is very friendly and goes above and beyond to meet your needs. I enjoyed the in room spa treatment, which was exactly what I needed after a long journey. I also, give special kudos to the Chef, for a menu that blends the flavors of West Africa with Asia, India, European cuisines. Let me not forget, if you are not up to driving in Accra. Please utilize the one of drivers available. The cost is reasonable and you are definitely in safe hands.
