Detailed Reviews
Nice location, very close to the airport (Walking distance).
Hotel is globally nice, but would need to be freshen up, getting old. Rooms are nice, the one I has was on the main floor, with direct access to the beach, which is nice.
Room was clean, and big enough. Bathroom is not huge, but enough for me, except that the toilet is almost in the shower...
Good Wifi in the room, but not amazing on the terrasse of the restaurant.
Terrasse of the restaurant is amazing, right on the beach. Food is very good. However, the service is way too slow!!! Not all the staff is motivated, which is quite annoying, when you feel that you bother them. Prices are way too expensive. I understand now why it was empty...
Some improvements could be done, especially with the construction of a small pool, especially considering that a bath in the sea is not to be considered. In this regard, the hotel could make an effort to try to clean the beach in front of the hotel.

+1
This is a boutique hotel. It is modeled after a European boutique hotel. I found it to be perfect for my needs.
I loved the bed that adjusted electronically to allow for sitting up, reclining or lying flat! Separate sleeping room/area allows for business meetings in the outer room, without the bed in the midst of the meeting. Makes female business partners more comfortable.
Tile floors are cold and noisy. Rugs or wall coverings would dampen the noise & echo.
The bathroom was modern and clean. The lime green colored glycerine soap was wonderful - tried to hoard some, but they didn't replace them everyday. No bottles of shampoo (I always bring my own - so no worries, just an FYI).
Bottled water from the mini-bar was not outrageously expensive. But, due to the high occurrence of travelers contracting dysentery, purified bottled water should be provided for drinking & brushing teeth.
If you chose to run on the beach or swim in the ocean - stay near the hotel. Street crime is common in this poverty stricken country. If you chose to run, run with a partner or group. In the mornings, military cadets are frequently seen running past in formation.
ADVANTAGES:
Off the main street
Quiet
On the beach
Great restaurant & bar
Gathering place for the "in-crowd" (if there is such a thing in Gabon)
Owner on site everyday
Free WIFI (in a country where internet is barely available)
Condoms in the nightstand
Clean
Ocean front rooms are quietest
Small gym/workout room
RIGHT ON THE BEACH!
Romantic
Mostly upper end business travelers
Strong in room A/C
DISADVANTAGES:
Old-fashioned KEY locks (no electronic locks - past guests may have made copies??)
WIFI did not work in my room - had to go down to restaurant /bar (to sell more drinks/food?)
No hardwired internet in rooms
No IN-ROOM SAFE.
No shower curtain
Nightstand condoms not replenished
No door on clothes closet (in bathroom) - so all of your toiletries &hanging clothing are visible.
Restaurant employees sometimes too loud when taking out the trash
Rooms overlooking small front parking lot are noisy
No pool
No task light on desk
The shower head was WAY TOO LOW - definitely for the vertically challenged!
With all of that said, THIS IS STILL THE BEST HOTEL IN LIBREVILLE!
is there room for improvement? Definitely !
Do hotels like to spend money on improvements? Definitely NOT!

I stayed here for a week and a half while on a business trip. The staff is very friendly, and the food is good. As is everything in Libreville, it's French, and European at heart.
The beds are the hotel are huge and most of the rooms overlook the water. There is a restaurant on the patio overlooking the beach - make sure to try it. The rates are reasonable. The local beers from the restaurant are Regab and Bueafort, and the wine is generally French.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The hotel is good for families and business trips. The internet is ok. I am comparing to my home internet in the US. I traveled for business so connectivity is important. The patio is well connected but the range does not extend to the rooms. Not a big deal, but a pain sometimes.
Regarding the ease of arriving at the hotel...the proximity to the airport is great. The hotel is less than 5 minutes from the airport. Negotiate with the cab drivers before you get in the car. The exchange rate is around 500 to 1. This ride should cost no more than 5000 CFA ~ 10 USD Maximum. If you do not haggle before you get in - you are out of luck. Your best case then is to get a person from the hotel to talk to the cab driver.
Make sure you ask for local recommendations for sight seeing opportunities. Gabon is a special place.

After several visits to other African countries, this visit to Gabon was much more pleasant. Friendly people, clean room, fine food and magnificent view from the dining room of hotel du Phare were the highlight of my visit.

Great place to stay and eat. Rooms very clean and comfortable, you go to sleep to the sound of the waves. Food is fantastic too. Note that they do not take credit cards, you'll need to pay in cash (Euros or CAFs).

Sort of al fresco dining - one is eating under covered patio outside, with the beach literally on your doorstep (you can get up and waly 20 feet and step onto it!). Ambiance is great, tables a spaced far apart and service is discrete. We had both fish and meat dishes - all superbly cooked. The fish was probably caught that morning. Only drawback is that there is no air conditioning and thus you need to be cognizant of the climate and the mosquitos!

This small hotel is a very welcoming and relaxing place to stay in a quiet and safe part of Libreville. I was lucky enough to have a room that fronted the beach and was able to hear the sound of waves all through the night. I wasn't quite brave enough to swim there - but I have been told that there are other beaches across the estuary that are clean and beautiful.
The bar and restaurant is quite good and it is indeed very relaxing to take a Régab beer on the terrace as the sun goes down - just don't forget the mosquito repellent ;)
This will be where I stay from now on whenever I visit Libreville.

The restaurant is amazing, but pricey. Dinner for two, wine, apps and dessert, will run you between 90 - 130 CFA; $180 - $270. Many places in town charge this amount to eat as well, but all fall short compared to Phare. Try their other restaurant Phare du Large in town.

I stayed here for one night en route to Loango Lodge in the national park. This is a modern boutique hotel on the beach and no more than five minutes from the airport. The rooms are simply decorated but comfortable and most have sea views. I had an early start and there was a private party in the restaurant and on the beach which was scheduled to go on past midnight . The reception staff moved me to a quieter room without complaint.

I was in Libreville on a business trip and the client booked me in to this hotel. This is a small boutique hotel located right on the sea shore and the dining area opens on to the beach.
My room was large and well fitted out and overlooked the sea.
The restaurant is very much a place to be seen in Libreville and the food & wine are on the whole very good.
The internet worked well while I was there.
The design, situation on the beach and ambience are more romantic than business, but even for work it is certainly one of the best places to stay in Libreville.
