A good standard hotel close to Piazza, Churchill road. Breakfast is ordinary, ok but not more. Rooms are nice and bathroom is clean and of high standard. We hade to change room though since the door was not able to lock. Took some time. Friendly english speeking staff. Room number x4 to x9 face Churchill road overlooking Addis in many directions, fantastic. If you do not look for a high end luxury hotel we can recommend Eliana. The blocks around Elina is perfect to visit, a different architecture than further down Churchill road. Close to Piazza with it’s cafe’s, fruit bars, shops and daily life.
I had a rocky start at the spa - no hot water to do pedicure. But the staff ran off and about to heat water and ensure I got the service. Clearly the wait had made me a bit irate. They could see how my time was wasted and compensated me by waiving off the entire fee for pedicure and also giving me a free body massage! But it is not the free services that I write about -- it is the professionalism and customer case that the staff had for which I give all five stars. Keep up the great job!
The overall status of the hotel is very good compared to many in Addis. staff are always helpful. I've heard others complain about showers and hot water, my was good. Be aware that street crime is increasing.
I spent 14 nights at this hotel. After changing rooms because the shower was impossibly small in room 709 I ended up in room 810 and also saw 811 and they had showers that were more spacious. The rooms are ok for a moderately-priced hotel but the internet goes off several times a day, sometimes for a few hours and the electricity went off several times briefly, including once when I was in the elevator and had to be pulled out by staff. The worst part of the hotel is the restaurant. The breakfast is ok with the usual Western fare plus a breakfast buffet of Ethiopian foods that Westerners would view as a dinner meal. The menu for lunch and dinner is exceptionally poor. During my time there, two of the three fish selections were not available, the veal and pork selections were never available and what I did eat was tasteless or deep fried with vegetables swimming in butter. My solution was to walk to a nearly local restaurant the Pizza di Napoli which had a choice of pizza, stir-fry, grilled chicken etc. A good menu at low cost. The hotel is the closest to the US Embassy so, given the traffic, that is an advantage if one needs proximity to the US Embassy. If price and traffic are not an issue, then stay somewhere else. I was ok with local Ethiopian and Italian food and avoided the restaurant after three tries. Finally, the breakfast is ok but the service was uneven - one morning there was no tea or coffee, another morning by 9am there was not much choice and the fruit and other bowls were not refilled for those having breakfast in the 9-10am period, The woman Concierge sitting at the desk by the piano was very kind and helpful. At check out there was also confusion as they thought I had already checked out and so I never got a receipt and they said all charges were billed directly to my employer.…
Really nice hotel - spacious rooms that are clean. The restaurant was a little slow, but the service at the front desk and the stellar fitness center more than made up for it. This will be the place I stay during future trips to Addis.
