They have the market here and you can see this was once a hotel in its prime. Sadly, they have let the facilities slip and it is now very basic and a bit rough around the edges. The rooms are average at best. The restaurant was chaotic with lots of tour groups and the food was poor. However, if you are just finished trekking in the Bale mountains and are going to move on the following day - you don’t have any other choice so grin and bear it. If someone had a bit of money to invest, this could be a great spot.
This hotel is no way near as bad as a lot of the reviews say! It's budget and a bit rough around the edges but it is completely fine! There are very few options for accommodation when visiting the Bale Mountains so this hotel is a good option for people wanting to experience the BEAUTIFUL national park. The room was basic but had a hot shower and comfortable beds. The hotel is conveniently placed to visit the national park and the food is reasonably priced too!
Broken windows, exposed wires, faulty circuits, broken lamps & TVs, broken elevators, broken springs in beds, cold breakfast, power outtages, intermittent wifi. I can't understate my disappointment. This was the rudest, most filthy, regrettable hotel during our stay in Addis--or in my life. Mexico square is extremely unsafe. A thief attempted to throw the door to our car open and we had just locked the door in the nick of time. I fear what would have happened. Not surprisingly, my fiancee and I were swarmed with bed bugs and our luggage and clothes are quarantined to contain the infestation. Far too expensive considering even a fraction of the problems, yet I wouldn't stay for free even. I would speak much higher of Wasserman hotel.
Nothing much to say, the good days are long gone: Overpriced, lack of custumer service, noisy (minibus concentration), outdated in every way Hard to find anything to praise the hotel for apart from the central location.
This hotel is not the best hotel in Addis Ababa. The rooms are not that clean.....too old fashion, the interiors are not good. The staff likes to ask for something from the guest. One of the receptionist tried in vain asking me to give him my mobile phone. One staff asked me for money...everything the staff is doing are taking advantage of their guest....worst!
