This hotel is below standard in every way. I stayed in room 507. Dinner and breakfast were included. Well, option 1: dried tomato base pasta or beef. I'm a vegan, so I chewed on some pasta to get by. No hot water, so cold shower in the morning. Cleanliness is an issue especially during covid19 era. No towels, so had to call reception for a towel. They brought one. Breakfast appeared to be tomato based spaghetti of sorts, which I skipped. The photo gives the impression it's neat and tidy but it's deceptive. Avoid.
Though it about five storey high, it feels small yet comfy. The rooms and lounges seems clean but I spotted a few cockroaches here and there. The hotel is located in a remote part of Addis Ababa but the shuttle service to/from the Airport was very timely.
We were put up overnight by Ethiopian Airlines and while one advantage is that the hotel lies less than 10 minutes from the airport, and registration is quick and staff friendly, but the rooms were dull and dingy with all the wall lights not working in 4 rooms I looked at. Although rooms were clean, you can see that this is a cheap hotel. None of the strip lights over the mirror in the bathroom worked and I had to ask for towels. There is some noise from other guests that carries too well and in room 507, the Wifi worked only near the entrance to the room, not near the desk or bed. In any case, the internet is so slow as to be almost unusable. There was a great view from the upper floors. Food was basic, limited and catered just for locals. There are much better places to stay.
my first and last night in this hotel. 1. no hot water in the bathroom so impossible to shower in this cold january night: when i complained about it, they told me to wait, i called a second time when i didnt get any feedback and i had to go down to the lobby to finally get a changed room; which had a broken shower glass and no soap. the water was luckwarm but it was better than nothing. In the morning there was no hot water to shower... 2. the kitchen staff was VERY unfriendly, no smile nothing and when asked about anything they would just say "WAIT" like wtf ?!. it was 9pm and there was no more food ? we guests arrived from the airport late and you were aware of our arrival...come on!!! 3. breakfast was horrible: no cups to drink water! no fresh juice (synthetic juice, like powder juice with no taste!!!) burnt loaves of bread...SERIOUSLY !!!?? THIS WAS MY WORST EXPERIENCE IN A HOTEL IN ADDIS! and i am not a fan of review but it had to be done…
I hope this is loud and clear... Ethiopia airlines should have regular Audits at the Hotels they accommodate Transit passengers... Destiny Hotel is in shambles... Toilets don't have lights... Towels are very dirty... There is no hot water..the food is. Served Raw.... can someone take this up and act before someone hits someone.... Coz the staff members are not helping.... They say the hotel is under poor management
