The heater in the 'breakfast room' (an outdoor patio) is broken. The place is cold and the concierge is overbearing. The location is very inconvenient unless you have a car. I cannot recommend this place.

Dear Guest, I apologise for the bad experience you had during your stay with us. Your comment on the heater is noted and will be corrected. Thank you for the feedback. I also apologize that you found our staff overbearing. I agree with you that guests sometimes want to be given space and not be interrupted by staff coming to provide this or that service. I agree with you that we should know better and walk that fine line. I again apologise, but wish to assure you that this was done to provide that extra services that is required most times . I agree with you that our Gaborone can be a difficult city if you do not have a car. That is why we have a number of taxis that guests can ask reception to call at fairly short notice. Thank you for your feedback. Regards Letts

I'm a repeat customer because my first visit was so pleasant. Joyce looks after you like a mother hen and is there to meet your every need. I stayed in the penthouse suite and what a lovely room it was. Great for working in and the bed is so comfortable. Slept like a log.

I chose the Capital Guesthouse because the photo on the website looked so lovely but I soon realized that it was an unwise decision. Since I was the only guest, I’m inclined to think other people may have known not to stay there. The house is ultra-modern, decorated in impersonal shades of cream and tan. Both the décor and the temperature were cold and unwelcoming. The breakfast area is an outdoor patio screened from the backyard by a canvas partition. I was there in July, winter in Botswana, and I had to eat breakfast wearing a down jacket. I never met the owner, Letts, who delegated responsibility to Joyce, a woman who was both obsequious and aggressive, constantly requesting that I compliment her on her service. I cannot recommend this place.

Dear Travelled TO, Thank you very much for choosing to stay at The Capital. I am very sorry for your bad experience. I am terribly disappointed that we were not able to meet your expectations as we have done with almost all our guests in the last 7 years of operation. I can also tell that you were not impressed with our deco and the outdoor patio where we served you breakfast. You also felt that you were alone in the guest house. Our occupancy is usually quite high especially during the peak tourism season of May to Sept . You may have been the only guest at the breakfast patio when you came to eat, but you certainly were not the only guest at the property that night. Our breakfast has always been served in our covered patio with a gas patio heater used on cold winter mornings. I am sorry that it was not warm enough for you, maybe you should have asked that you be served in one of our 2 indoor lounges. I am sure Joyce would have gladly set a table for you there. I must however indicate that most guests have complimented us on our deco and hospitality. Joyce has been singled out as an outstanding hostess by the majority of them. This is the first time she has been described by a guest as aggressive and negging for compliments. Most of our over 140 international tripadvisor reviewers have a very high regard for the quality of service and facilities, thus qualifying us for the tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence for this year and the last 4 years. For the same period we have been rated No.1 guest house in Gaborone by tripadvisor, a position we still hold. Joyce has been at the centre of this quality service. I must at the same time accept your comments , though I might not do much regarding the deco and the outdoor eating area, I can assure you that I have raised your above service concerns with Joyce and we will work on improving them and keeping our high service standards Thank you for your feedback. Letts

I found the manager very helpful, during an unforeseen stay over in town. The staff (Joyce) especially was like being home away from home. Highly recommend!! I was helped to order food in the evening and breakfast the next morning fulfilled all my needs.

I had an amazing stay at The Capital Guest House! The staff were wonderful... Especially Joyce, whom made me feel like royalty! The room I had was small but had everything you needed, including a very comfortable bed and was super clean! Joyce also cooked a delicious breakfast! Cereal and fruit also available. Will stay again if I come back to Gabarone!!!
