A nearby waterhole attracts a wide variety of wildlife throughout the year including warthogs, bushbuck and many species of birdlife are often seen in the gardens surrounding the lodges. Detailed Reviews
Starting from the gate, we were greeted by a very jovial and colorful Porter who did all sorts of traditional dance routines that really was a sight for sore eyes after the long drive from the Capital1, we then were directed to the main hotel were we we very much helped by the front desk agent on duty (such a shame that we forgot her name but she worked the evening shift of the 1st of Feb 2020) but our booking had all sorts of issues and changes due to last minute changes within our group. She really went above and beyond to assist us with the changes until everything was sorted then we got our rooms and checked in.
We got to our lodges and were very much impressed by how close and accurate the pictures on the website were compared to what we saw with regards to the rooms, clean, cossy with a Safari feel to them. Hot water, good pressure, Mosquito Nets, comfy beds, AIRCON and ceiling fans - wifi was a bit of an issue but since we were all on holiday it was not much of a big deal ( i suggest putting wifi extenders in the rooms to improve connectivity-important for business travellers)
We were self catering so it was really relaxing to wake up and have breakfast while overlooking the valley and spotting a few animals. There was a lady trainee in the Housekeeping department from Bulawayo Hotel School-on the morning of the 2nd ,who helped answer our questions about the place and what activities to do. The maps of the town that they put in the rooms were very helpful in planning our activities. a good feature that they have on sight is the game viewing deck that you can go and have sundowners after a long day of activities and watch a bit a of game .
After having spoken to the guards on duty about security and the do's and don'ts when it comes to evening activities, we then wound down the weekend with a braai.
Overly, it is a very well maintained establishment, good staff all around, from the gate to the security guards!
Worth making a go to place!

When we decided to go to Vic Falls Zimbabwe, I asked Dream Vacations to find accomodation for me.
My concierge did not take long and came back with the details ad a reservation. I did not know of any other and was happy with the choice.
I e-mailed the Lodge with regard to cabs and Precious promptly came back to me with info.
We arrived by cab on 16 March 2020 well before our check in time but Precious informed me that my chalet was ready. She called a Porter and Resort transport and we were taken to the Chalet. Thank goodness for the transport because it was a little distance to walk dragging luggage. The Porter took our luggage into the Chalet.
We were three ladies (mother, daughter and godmother (me} ) and they decided to share upstairs (twin beds in the loft). I had the double bed. All the beds had mosquito nets.
The chalet was very comfortable with all the usual utensils for self catering and welcoming tea, coffee tray.
We unpacked and then we had some baboons on the grounds but they didn't bother us.
We then discovered that Monday evening was Happy Hour at 18h00 inthe Boma, to meet and greet staff and that all drinks at less 50%. We confirmed.
We thought the Boma would be quite far and left earlier and prepared for a walk. As it turned out, the Boma was quite close to our chalet. We then discovered the Pools and saw some warthog grazing. There is also a Gift Shop. As I had received a discount voucher for meal, I went to investigate. The restaurant is quite huge but the saddest part was that because of the Virus, many people had to cancel. Supper is Buffet but we decided to wait before making reservations.
As it turned out Happy Hour was only Precious and the three of us. They presented us with a nice tasty snack basket. I am not a drinker and had a fruit drink. When the other two ordered Pina Colada for seconds, I decided to also try one. Guess who walked a couple of steps above ground , but it was nice. There were also traditional dancers to entertain.
Our stay was comfortable and we enjoyed walking to the other Lodge for the hourly shuttle to the Town. We saw Mongoose, a water buck and some vervet monkeys.
We went out daily and always back to a cleaned chalet.

The foundation of our stay in Victoria Falls was built on the accommodation at Lokuthula Lodges and it was a great foundation to choose!
The lodge works well for families and if one lodge is not enough, the adjoining lodge can probably be booked. Note that our bathroom only had a bath/shower combo, which may be difficult for less mobile or flexible guests, but it wasn't as bad as other such combos I've had to use in the past. The stairs leading up to the top room is also quite steep, but the room with the double bed is still easily accessible. The thorough cleaning service - including fresh towels - daily was great. (They also deliver bottles of drinking water when they come to clean, which will save you a lot of money.) The lodges are far enough in between the trees that you can truly rest, yet close enough to the Boma Restaurant on the property and the other lodges that it doesn't feel like you're in danger. Walking on the pathways between all the trees on the way to breakfast is truly relaxing!
The staff deserve a special shout-out: whether at the breakfast service (which we had at the Safari Lodge due to the few guests in the lodges), reception or on the grounds, they were all incredibly friendly and helpful!
Lokuthula Lodges is a great place to stay if you're looking to relax and rewind in nature, yet be close enough that you can easily reach the sights. Highly recommended!

We stayed one night here arranged by a travel agent as part of a safari. Compared to the other lodges we stayed in, this one was dated and felt a bit scruffier. Spraying the property for mosquitos would help. The property is spread out and you have to walk to get to check in or to the breakfast area and lighting would be nice considering there are warthogs and baboons in the area, which can be intimidating in the dark. We don't mind the walk, but since its in the dark with animals around, perhaps golf carts would be useful. For that matter, paved pathways would be nice rather than walking in the sand too, as pulling our luggage from our lodge back to check in through the sand and rocks for our transfer was challenging. In addition, we were not sure whether the Boma dinner was included with our package, so we asked at the front desk and were told it was not included without anyone looking up our specific information. Turns out our travel agent had already booked it and included it for us and we missed it as a result. The staff were nice, but the fact that they didn't even look it up but just told me no was frustrating to have missed a big dinner show experience. It's an accomodation you can live with for one night as we did, but any longer would have been uncomfortable. The Safari Lodges on the same property looked nicer and we might have booked those instead had we been given an option. When you visit the restaurant for breakfast and see Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, you almost felt like you were on the "wrong side of the tracks" heading back to Lokuthula Lodges. It was also never fully explained to us that the water at the property is purified and safe. We were given what appeared to be tap water but it was never explained that they purify it so we were not inclined to drink it and didn't realize it until we were leaving, so we were all dehydrated.

Response from VFSL GM, General Manager at Lokuthula Lodges
Responded Sep 16, 2022
Dear Clark family We are in receipt of your TripsAdvisor Review after your recent one night stay with us at Lokuthula Lodges. Our sincere apologies that your short stay with us was less than satisfactory. It seems like information flow was not adequate as this product did not meet your needs and you would have preferred to stay at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge. From your review, it seems that our team did not do enough orientation at check in to give enough information on your accommodation and options you had on the Estate if you had chosen to stay in any of our other facilities. This also speaks to the issue of our triple filtered water served complimentary , which is our conservation effort to do away with plastic bottles on our Estate. This water is very safe to drink for all our guests and staff. We have a mosquito infestation in Victoria Falls this year. We have a fortnightly fogging program in place but this has reduced and not eliminated the mozzie problem on our Estate and in our City. We must hasten to report that our medical authorities have advised these mozzies are not the malaria carrying ones but they are still a nuisance. We sincerely apologize for all this unfortunate situation and we hope you will return and enjoy a much better stay with us in future. Regards from Lokuthula team and the management team.

Stayed here with family in July 2022.
Vic Falls was our entry point into Zim for a safari trip. We opted for Lokuthala on the back of it being comfortable and convenient accommodation for an affordable price.
Our cottage was a 2BR setup with a kitchen and 1 bathroom. Everything was comfortable and clean. There are stairs to get up to the second bedroom and also a short drop to the living room/kitchen area, so be aware of that. The upstairs room doesn’t have heating/aircon so it can get a bit chilly or hot depending on the season. Beds were comfortable but mosquitoes were a problem despite the mosquito net. Lighting could also be better.
The lodge is part of the larger Victoria Falls Safari Lodge compound, and we were able to have meals at VFSL and VFSC on the couple of nights we stayed there. The food is great and the service is also efficient. We didn’t eat at the infamous Boma, despite it being a short walk away. Breakfast was decent, if a bit basic. Staff at breakfast were very friendly.
Free bus shuttles are available to transfer to town and the Vic Falls National Park, and we did utilize this service…the driver was also very friendly. The internet worked well, as well.
The Lokuthala front office staff and housekeeping were also very good and helped with our transfers and pickups.
Overall, it’s a good pit stop before the start of your Africa adventure.

+1
Lokuthula Lodge was booked as part of a longer trip across 3 countries and I am still not aware of what the cost of staying here was, as my trip was a total price, not individual for each location. Having said that, it is probably very cost effective which is why it was part of my trip. I will explain more in a moment.
The accommodation is very clean and very comfortable and the grounds are wonderful with plenty of wildlife to observe. The rooms are very large and have a main bedroom, upstairs loft bedroom, lounge room, bathroom and kitchen as well as an outdoor seating area and BBQ. I was surprised to see that one of the walls of the bungalow was in fact a canvas tent wall. This had the advantage of letting the breeze flow into the lounge room as well as the sounds of the wildlife outside. It also had gaps near the roof bearers which allowed in the mosquitoes. The beds do have mosquito netting but that is because they need to, the mozzies are everywhere at night. This is my only real concern with the accommodation but as I said earlier, perhaps the value of the rooms makes up for it.
The reception for Lokuthula Lodges is up the road a little way, not far but you will have to walk the dirt road for a few minutes to get there if you are being picked up for tours.
I chose to eat Dinner at Victoria Falls Lodge in the same grounds but had to also settle my account on each occasion as they don't charge back to Lokuthula. Breakfast at Lokuthula is excellent though and the Boma drum & dinner show is also at Lokuthula but I did not attend that on this trip.
If you have no issue with the canvas wall and the likelihood of mosquitoes in the room, I highly recommend Lokuthula Lodges. The people who work there are very friendly and helpful and the grounds are beautiful. Note, they use the rectangular 3 pin electric plugs in the rooms here, not the round pin plugs. There was one round pin plug in the kitchen for the appliances so I used that to charge my phone. Wifi is available in the rooms. They have a free shuttle into town through the day and Victoria Falls is just up the road, great location.

Dear Brad We appreciate you taking the time to let us know about your most recent visit. It was an honour to welcome you to our Estate. Thank you for staying with us. We are glad to hear that you had a fantastic experience and that you found our rooms to be large, clean, and extremely comfortable. We take note of your comment about the mosquitoes. Yes, they can be unpleasant but they are malaria-free and we have our own weekly fogging programme to keep the infestation at bay. Please keep well.

We spent three nights here and had an amazing time! Warthogs, baboons, mongoose, monkeys, impala, and other small animals walked around freely on the property within a few meters of us. This was quite an experience for someone who's used to only seeing squirrels around.
The property was clean and well maintained, as were the beautiful and spacious lodges. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We really appreciated the free shuttle buses to either Vic Falls or to the Vic Falls town where we could shop for supplies or souvenirs, or go out for dinner at one of the many restaurants.
The Boma entertainment dinner was well worth attending. Colourful and interactive dancers as well as great food. There were other onsite restaurants available as well where you could watch the elephants and other wildlife spending some time at the nearby watering hole. Great photo ops.
Lokuthula lodges felt and looked like paradise. We would highly recommend staying here either as a couple or as a family.

Booked through Air BnB and received an offer of a 3 bed lodge for 5 persons at an excellent price. Whilst at Lokuthula, we had full access to all of the facilities and services of the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge complex which Lokuthula is part of. All the service throughout the complex was very good and nothing was ever too much trouble. Free shuttle operates between hotel and Victoria Falls and the town on a regular daily basis. If a taxi was required, staff happy to organise . Only 10 dollars each way. A visit to The Three Monkey’s Restaurant is always a must and off course the Falls, if you don’t mind getting very wet. A helicopter trip over the Falls with Bonisair Helicopters is recommended if you want to view the Falls in all of its glory. They will even come and collect you from your hotel and drop you off again. Recommend a visit to the area and a stay at Lokuthula Lodges as part of a longer holiday. Zimbabwe is a great country for a planned visit and if you know where to look, you can get quite close to much of the wild life without feeling that you are a tourist.

Our trip to the stunning Victoria Falls, one of the seven wonders of the natural world, was made all the more memorable by our two-night stay at the beautiful Lokuthula Lodges. Situated just a few minutes outside of the small town of Victoria Falls, with free transfers running in either direction every two hours, the self-catering lodges are situated in the grounds of Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, which guests can use and where meals are served. The bar and restaurant here are perched over a beautiful open expanse, with a waterhole drawing plenty of kudu, marabou storks, impala and other wildlife. The lodges themselves at Lokuthula are extremely spacious and well suited to a whole family. The food at the MaKuwa-Kuwa restaurant at Safari Lodge is exceptional, so make sure to grab at least one evening meal here overlooking the waterhole. And the breakfasts here have pretty much everything you could possibly want. Eoin & Alessandra, London

Just home after an amazing holiday at Lokuthula Lodges (Lodge 20 in our case) on a tour of Victoria Falls and Safari in Zimbabwe and Botswana. The lodges are a perfect base to call home for a week (or more if you are lucky enough) – they have plenty of space to relax, comfy beds, good bathrooms/showers, all spotlessly clean (and if you are self-catering they have everything you need including a barbeque in the garden). And for the icing on the cake they have wildlife all around – roebucks, warthogs, mongoose, monkeys and more – in our opinion far better than a hotel room in the town. Breakfast was taken on the terrace of the Boma bar and was always delicious and plentiful, in a beautiful setting. Most evenings our dinner was in the MaKuwa‐Kuwa restaurant – great food, great service, and an amazing view of the waterhole and elephants on our first night! The Buffalo bar also had a great view of the waterhole and the vastness of the bush, a perfect spot to enjoy a cocktail and watch for visiting wildlife, as well as the daily spectacle of vulture feeding. In addition we were treated to some special dinners by Lokuthula as part of our tour, but I don’t want to spoil the surprises so shall say no more than thank you Lokuthula!
All of the staff (from gardener to general manager) could not have been friendlier or more obliging, always taking time to say good morning and checking that the guests are well and happy. The grounds are immaculately maintained. A courtesy bus service allows you visit town and the falls easily, returning to the peace and tranquillity of the lodges at the end of the day and always a good nights sleep.
There is an activities desk where you can book all sorts of amazing activities, from game drives, helicopter flights to rafting and bungee jumps for the brave. Our tour was managed by Colette, who arranged our full itinerary and kept us all well organised, a challenge I can only compare to ‘herding cats’.
So a big thank you to Lokuthula, and Colette for a great and unforgettable holiday.
