From the moment we got there to when we left the staff were amazing, really looking after us and so friendly.

The lodge is very tranquil with nice rooms and the breakfast is freshly cooked for you with cereals and fruit available too.

To get to the town center where there are a few shops and restaurants it is a short taxi drive which costs $5 US.

I would highly recommend this lodge.

We had the best holiday at Victoria falls. The Guest lodge had fabulous and comfortable accommodation with charming thatched roof cottage style rooms which were both spacious and clean and en suite shower room. The bed had mosquito nets and the room had a bottle of mosquito repellent. The air conditioning was also very welcoming. A kettle with coffe and tea assortments was a nice touch.
There were smoke plugs for charging both UK and South African plugs

The breakfast had a large selection of buffet style goodies including cooked meal. We were most appreciative of the gluten free options.
Dinner was limited in a set menu but very tasty and again accommodating gluten free dietary requirements.
The pool with loungers, chairs and tables had a unique tropical ambience - we were so chilled and spent hours floating in the pool. We even had our night swims as it was incredibly hot and humid for the duration of our stay

We used the communal fridge to store a few snacks and the coffee on tap and the filtered cold water on tap were a great considerate touch. The bar was well stocked and pretty reasonable.
We took the advice from Robin and went to Livingstone hotel for sundowners and dinner, did the Livingstone game park drive, went to see the vultures and of course the Victoria falls We went to the look out for lunch and went to the safari lodge for sundowners and were delighted to see a herd of elephants 20 strong at the watering hole. The Zambesi river dinner cruise was extra special.

The team organised some of our outings, taxis and airport pick up. Everything went smoothly and all staff were so friendly and helpful.

I would definitely recommend the Bayete Guest Lodge. See elkaphotos on IG for photos

We really enjoyed our stay at Bayete Guest Lodge. The service was very very good. We booked 4 activities prior to our stay and each booking was arranged exactly as planned and ran like clockwork! The reception staff were all excellent and made sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. The pool area is very nice; they have nice sunbeds to relax on and the pool is a good size and the water clean and warm. The rooms themselves - particularly the bathrooms - are a little basic and we were expecting them to be slightly more luxurious. The wifi signal was patchy and the connection frequently disconnected. The breakfast was good and yummy although choices were not that extensive. We would recommend this place to other travellers to Vic Falls!

Thank you so much for your good review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay at Bayete Guest Lodge. We have 2 room types at Bayete, Deluxe and Executive, and the room you were in was a deluxe room. Our deluxe rooms have more basic amenities, and the executive rooms are those which would have more luxurious bathrooms. We have recently upgraded our WiFi system and it has been running well. We will follow up with that and just make sure everything is still operating as it should. Thank you for your feedback and we wish you well for the remainder of your travels. Best regards Carla

There are a large number of lodges in Vic Falls and this one sits in the middle of the price range. Its relatively small and as such has a very friendly atmosphere with extremely helpful and friendly staff. Its a short taxi ride from the center of the town which costs $5 US. Breakfast is included in the price and they have a small bar and offer a lunch snack service and a fixed dinner - both extra. We had dinner and while the food is not sophisticated, it was tasty and very pleasant over looking the pool. Both the rooms we had had open bathrooms (ie no doors) and air con, the only TV being in the bar. The only slight annoyance was the wireless access points for the internet which did not work from our rooms. We would stay here again.

We have just returned from a 4 day stay at Bayete Lodge. It was a celebration and 16 of us stayed here. From our arrival to departure Robyn and her team were on the ball. Bayete's accommodation was all good with varying types and prices. we said in an executive room which was very roomy and came with a full bathroom. The rooms were spread out in lovely gardens with the pool, dining and bar area being the centre of attraction. Breakfast, which was included, was plentiful and tasty with cooked breakfast ordered on arrival. The staff are very helpful when it comes to excursions or any other info you may require. Everyone loved the lodge,. I would highly recommend Bayete Lodge if you're planing a trip to the Falls.

We recently stayed a couple of nights at Bayete in a family room. It was clean and comfortable, with a simple but tasty breakfast. A lovely big pool and friendly service.
The mosquito nets didn't seem to close properly which was a bit annoying.
Purgatory a nice enhancement would be to offer a complimentary car wash for guests who are on a self drive holiday.
Good value for money and would return.

We booked with Freedom Africa and they got us across the border from Botswana. We had to pay $55 each to cross and I was worried as I was told that in Zim you can't use credit cards. Good news is that you can use it at Bayette for a small surcharge.

The property is lovely set off the main road into Vic Falls and the staff are lovely. We had a delightful room which was clean and a great shower. We sprayed the room each night and did not get eaten by Mozzies.

Dinner was $20 each and was plentiful and on one night they did a break.

I would recommend this place for a visit to Vic Falls.

We had a fantastic stay at Bayete recently, the lodge provided us a haven of peace and tranquility throughout our stay in Vic Falls. The reception staff were extremely knowledgable when it came to activities and things to do in the local area with great relationships with the local suppliers and provided us with great recommendations.

The food was excellent, and all the kitchen and restaurant staff were just so friendly and helpful It’s was a pleasure at meal times.

Unfortunately we were caught in the middle of the Corona Virus crisis where our onward journeys were barred due to border closures and our return flights cancelled. We had to extend our stay by several days and the staff pulled out all the stops to assist us with finding a solution to our travel issues. We had constant access to office computers and phones and they also gave us preferential rack rates for our extending our stay which given the circumstances was a lovely gesture.

Despite being under a great deal of pressure themselves due to the unprecedented events, the staff always remained positive and helpful and made our own somewhat stressful situation a lot more manageable. The lodge had a great family atmosphere and you had a real sense that the management treated their staff very well given their service standard to us.

Hopefully when the crisis is over, we will be able to return to Bayete and complete our holiday and journey as originally planned.

I don't usually consider staff's attitude that much in my review, but the staff in Bayete deserves a commend. All of them were quick to come help me, and focused on finding a solution. Especially, Alan, we owe you huge for saving our trip schedule.

The hotel is a short trip from the falls entrance, and all the activities and meals I arranged directly with the hotel were all on point.

The hotel has beautiful trees in the premises, which allowed me to do some birdwatching.

One of the biggest advantages is the pricing of the restaurant, which was super affordable and delicious.

A little downside for me was mosquitos in the room. As the main door and windows didn't have mosquito net (the bed has the net), the room ended up having mosquitos at night. Hope the hotel considers putting mosquito nets for the windows :))
Having said this, the kind smile and proactive attitude of staff totally offset this little inconvenience.
I'll definitely come back!

Bayete is a beautiful haven on the outskirts of the bustling town of Victoria Falls. The beautifully decorated lodges with air conditioning are set around a lovely swimming pool and tropical gardens. The staff were very friendly, helpful and able to book local activities. The breakfasts were buffet style fruit and cereal then full English served at the table. Dinner was a set menu of one main course and one dessert. The food was good, plentiful and good value.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend Bayete to anyone travelling to Victoria Falls.

If you are not on a tour that includes a pickup, the easiest way is a quick $5 cab ride. The guest lodge can help arrange a taxi for you. The falls will take a couple of hours, but it all depends on how long you spend taking pictures. You could go faster or slower. Make sure to bring a poncho! The mist from the falls will get you.

Not at all. The hotel room we had was fully air-conditioned and enclosed and also offered a mosquito net. We didn't experience any bugs whatsoever.

There was some mention about cresole in the room. What is the status of this at present?
Answer from Clara-Bell

"Creosote is the most widely used wood treatment today; both industrially, processed into wood using pressure methods such as "full-cell process" or "empty-cell process", and more commonly applied to wood through brushing. In addition to toxicity to fungi, insects, and marine borers, it serves as a natural water repellant. It is commonly used to preserve and waterproof cross ties, pilings, telephone poles, power line poles, marine pilings, and fence posts. Although suitable for use in preserving the structural timbers of buildings, it is not generally used that way because it is difficult to apply." There is no link between short term exposure to creosote to cancer (an average stay at Bayete ranges between 1 or 2 nights, hardly long-term). And I'm sure the "smell" that may be present in the room may just be the thatch ceiling that some may not be accustomed to. It's always worth checking these things before booking into a lodge as most places in and around Vic Falls are thatched and can trigger symptoms of hay fever. There are 11 rooms at Bayete that are thatched, the remaining 19 rooms have standard roofs with ceilings.
