The Matetsi spa is so worth the visit. I had a massage, facial and body wrap at the spa with Jackie. Amazing!! The best I’ve had in all my travels!! Be sure to ask for Jackie at Matetsi! She also does manicures and pedicures. She will also come to your room for treatments.
Matetsi is truly a magical place - we so enjoyed every minute of our stay. ALL of the staff were exceptional and truly support each other as a family. I loved the efforts of the owners and staff to take care of this special game reserve and the animals. The rooms were unbelievable and having our own private plunge pool and super comfy sitting area right on the Zambezi River with hippos and elephants in sight was amazing. ALL of the meals were exceptional - our server for our stay - Ode - took such care of us. We felt very pampered! Each night the staff went out of their way to make the dinner special with tons of candles and fires - just gorgeous! But the night were were taken to a special bush dinner away from the hotel was unbelievable and breathtaking - I will never forget it. We also LOVED our game drives with Opheous and Doubt - they were fantastic and we saw so many animals in the gorgeous Matetsi setting. We learned so much! We also enjoyed our sunset cruise on the Zambezi and wonderful day trip to Victoria Falls with Tinashe. I highly encourage potential visitors to go to the website and listen to Dr. Gardiner talk about the family's vision for Matetsi and their wildlife conservation goals. Trip of a lifetime! We thoroughly enjoyed Matetsi!…
Everything at Matetsi was perfect. The staff was extraordinarily friendly and catered to our every need. The food was amazing and the location of the rooms inside the Matetsi part of the national park perfect for seeing animals in the wild. Game viewings were incredibly; we saw all Big 4 as well as other very rare animals, and our safari guides were knowledgable, approachable and kind, making game viewings a once in a lifetime experience. Little surprises such as gifts packets in our rooms and a dinner in the bush make the experience even more special.
Hotel Rating: 10/10 - This highly acclaimed luxe safari lodge set on the banks of the Zambezi River near Victoria Falls has won multiple prestigious awards, including best lodge in Africa. Among the many top flight safari lodges in Victoria Falls, Matetsi would win my vote as the best safari lodge on the Zimbabwe side and one of the top safari lodges in the world. It offers spacious luxury pool suites in a spectacular riverfront location, warm personalized service delivered by an empowered staff, romantic riverside dining, and exceptional game drives on its own huge private game reserve - which sets it apart from the competition. Additional experiences include romantic sunset cruises on the Zambezi river as well as guided kayaking.
You cannot do better!!! Matetsi is just perfect in every way. Five stars all the way. Thank you so much to Sikeleli Travel for your exceptional booking expertise, we cannot recommend you highly enough for booking any travel anywhere!
Matetsi Lodge is simply fabulous. They could not have done more to make our stay there unforgettable. Absolutely everything was top class. The staff is incredibly good, the room was impeccable and the food was exquisite. The game drives and boat cruises were so good and the game viewing was fantastic. The cherry on the cake was the bush dinner. You simply cannot do better. Thank you to the whole Matetsi family.
I cannot say enough about my experience here. From the greeting every time you arrive back at the lodge with warm or cool towels to wash off the dust and great smiles to the amazing food that seems to just keep coming and coming. Sitting right on the Zambezi river is a gorgeous private setting within a game reserve that does not disappoint!! Hospitality at this lodge is unmatched and the personal touch is very much appreciated and noticed. Our guides Lance and Mike were extremely knowledgeable and professional. They were kind and friendly and always available to help or assist with any needs. Caroline is the most gracious, warm and welcoming host I have ever met. Always with a bright smile she ensured that everything went smoothly and that our stay was perfect. I hope she is there when I get a chance to return. Andie kept bringing us this wonderful supply of some of the most tasty food one could imagine while on safari. And then the evening feast they put together our last night was so unexpectedly awesome that our group couldn't stop talking about the experience. The chefs were consistently providing wonderful arrays of healthy flavors for all to enjoy. The sunset cruise is not to be missed. We did it twice and loved it each time. A canoe trip with Mongo(?) was so relaxing and peaceful and then at the end an experience with a small family of elephants could not have gone better. A walking safari with our walking guide, Orpheus, and Lance was extremely educational and a very personal way to encounter this environment. That ended and a quick drive to see a pride of lions was rather eye opening and watching the cubs play together and in a small bush was a treat. As I said this place was amazing and I would definitely return but add another night. Thank you for making the last few days of our Africa journey so memorable and amazing.…
It was an astonishing experince. The location, activities, especially the staff are GREAT. Watch the river at sundown. Do the game at night and see the elephansts, lions, zebras, impalas. Do not forget to visit Victoria Falls. It was an astonishing experince.
Gorgeous property and outstanding hospitality. We loved our stay in this peaceful and awe-inspiring setting. Great wildlife viewing, lovely accommodations, and fantastically warm and helpful staff who made so many things possible in such a short stay.
Matetsi really has it all. Game drives, Zambezi River water activities ( we fished and enjoyed a sunset pontoon boat trip), tours of Victoria Falls (thanks Romeo and for the high tea at Victoria Falls hotel -fun to watch the warthogs running around), fitness center, spa and delicious food. The camp was designed to be rustic but still luxurious. Andy was caring and attentive in his care of our dining preferences and service, Jeffrey did a great job at our bungalow and Eddy, a manager, took over when things had gone a little awry upon our arrival and turned our stay into one we will always remember. Thanks to Lancelot for the casting lessons and the fishing trip. Highly recommend.
