Loved our time at Matetsi, and could have stayed longer. River view cabins are so comfortable and well appointed, we haven't slept that well in a year. We loved the morning coffee delivery, and sitting out on the river watching baboons in the trees, gazelles and even an elephant passing by at day break. If you love elephants, this reserve will be a dream. We saw literal hundreds on our game drives and river boat. We generally have managed expectations about food at game reserves, but the food at Matetsi was truly delicious. Guides and trackers were awesome and knowledgeable, and the camp and staff go out of their way to provide a lovely experience.

Andie and the entire team made us feel welcome the moment we arrived. Our bush drives were memorable, the food was out of this world, the staff accommodated any request and the views outstanding. Our group took advantage of spa treatments, a visit to a local village, a tour of Victoria falls, ziplining, bush breakfasts, dinners under the stars, fishing, sunset cruise, plunges into our pool and of course our bush drives. Thanks to the entire staff for a truly memorable bucket-list visit!

Amazing place. The rooms are beyond wonderful, so comfortable and beautifully interior-designed. We also loved having our small plunge pool for the room but using the lap pool to get some exercise. Amazing wildlife and really charming staff. We were looked after by Andi who was always happy and helpful and really made our stay spectacular. The food and wine and lots of cocktails were much enjoyed by us all. We also loved the fishing and boat trips and had a great day at Victoria Falls.

This was truly an amazing experience. The game drives were excellent thanks to our guide , Mike and our tracker, Priority! We saw numerous water buffalo, elephants, impala and baboons and even an aardwolf on our night drive. Jeeps were very comfortable with heated pillows for the morning drives. Animals roam freely including up to your personal plunge pool. We needed to be escorted during the night hours which added a level of excitement to the experience. Included Zambezi River cruise was available just a short drive from our room complete with "Sundown Cocktails ". Priority makes great Gin and Tonics. Proximity to the falls was the reason for our stay but it was a very unique game park with lots of surprises.

Where do I even begin to summarize our time at Matetsi? I will start with the very end - I never cry when leaving a holiday spot, but our departing goodbyes with the Matetsi staff had me wiping away tears. There are so many incredible qualities about Matetsi - but the most incredible one is the PEOPLE!! We have never felt more welcomed, and cared for. Suko and Floyd took such good care of us during our meals and beyond, remembering all our little preferences and showing true happiness seeing us happy and laughing. Mike and Doubt were a super knowledgeable and skilled Ranger and Tracker team - finding all the creatures big and small, day and night. Musa took us on an excellent tour of Vic Falls, answering our many questions not only about the Falls, but also about Zimbabwe. Yvonne and Belinda, Felix and Tau, Jackie, Brave - and all the Patrol team, all the staff were simply wonderful - kept is safe, happy, relaxed and comfortable. The accommodations were comfortable and luxurious. And the wildlife is so prevalent, you don’t even need to leave your suite to see - close up - elephants, baboons, warthogs, impala, birds and hippos poking out of the water. The sounds are equally exciting. We were lucky enough to be staying when Matetsi prepared a dinner in the bush for its guests. WOW - it was a spectacular atmosphere with lantern chandeliers hanging from a giant tree, tables in a circle, fire pits all around, and a wonderful musician playing the mbira (a kalimba-like instrument). Also, a special shout out to the chef and staff in the kitchen - the food is PHENOMENAL. We were positively blown away by every meal. No matter what the menu selections were, there was always something we really wanted to try - the variety and offerings were excellent. And the tastes were incredible. I should note too that the presentation was so beautiful, with such attention to detail. Each and every meal was a culinary delight. We arrived on my birthday and I was presented with the most beautiful birthday cake I have ever seen - and the staff sang to me too which was so special. In addition to this review, I’ll be promoting a trip to Zimbabwe’s Matetsi to everyone I can at home!! This is one of those "heaven on earth" places. Sublime. Stunning accommodation, delicious food, excellent staff, the walking safari was particularly enjoyable with excellent guides. We loved the tour of the Victoria Falls, followed by high tea at the Victoria Falls hotel.

Victoria Falls is a bucket-list site, and Matetsi Victoria Falls provided the perfect way to experience it. Its location along the might Zambezi river is incomparable. The game drives were fantastic and informative. The Vic Falls experience including helicopter viewing were amazing! But the service is the standout reason to stay at this lodge...the people were wonderful.

We traveled as a family of five to Southern Africa and Matetsi was our first lodge stay. What a way to kick off our Africa adventure. The safaris, sunset river cruise, visit to Victoria Falls and the market and our Village experience were all amazing. This coupled with the great food, warm hospitality and great rooms on the incredible Zambezi River made for a truly special and memorable stay. Special thanks to Ophious, Gift, Caroline, Johnson, Obie, Future, Romeo and Owen for all you did. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. We hope to return one day to re-capture that Matetsi magic!

Four of us stayed at Matetsi for 5 nights (my husband and I, our 20-something year old daughter, and an older family friend). The staff at Matetsi was absolutely wonderful at providing each of us an amazing visit catering to our respective wants and needs! From the moment we made reservation inquiries with Gladys, to our departure, we had a fabulous journey! All of our meals and drinks were 5-stars - excellent! The lodging was fantastic and so comfortable, the plentiful game drives were exciting, and very informative - Simba and Givie made the drives and boat safaris so amazing! We were able to see so much wildlife in their natural /protected habitat. This is our second safari, our first one in Zimbabwe, and we felt SO special, SO pampered during our entire time. The Staff were extremely responsive and anticipated our every need. You could tell the staff enjoyed their jobs, we felt like family by the time we left! Sara and her family's passion for the wildlife and fauna of Zimbabwe is evident by Matetsi and their game preserve. We are still talking about this trip two months after our return, our stay was so amazing, it made for a lifetime of memories! We highly recommend a stay to experience the "Matestsi Magic"!…

Our 7 night stay at Matetsi was perfect from making our reservation with Yvonne, being met on arrival at the camp by Lisa and the team to our departure to the airport. All staff went the extra mile for us. Our guide and tracker, Simba and Blessing, did everything possible to make our game activities fabulous. Being on the Great Zambezi adds another dimension to an already extraordinary experience. Canoeing, fishing, lunch and sunset cruising were an amazing addition to the game drives. One of the highlights was seeing leopard from our cruise boat. Mind blowing. The food and lodge serve was sublime. Johnson was our butler. He was brilliant, anticipating our every need. Our room was kept spotless by Jeff. The general maintenance of the camp was great and all the maintenance and gardening staff were pleasant and friendly. The helicopter and the tour, by Nash, of Vic Falls was fantastic. We having been coming to various game lodges in South Africa for 20 years and Matetsi has been our best overall experience at a game lodge. We are looking forward to return soon. …
