“There is nothing more magical than the Zambezi, and no better place to sleep than a lodge on its banks. Great for breathtaking river views and leisurely meals on the river banks. We took a river cruise from the lodge. We left in daylight and saw game on the river banks. We came back after sunset and saw the most... More

We spent a wonderful 3 days at matetsi -the staff were helpful and welcoming, the lodges spectacular though in need of a little tlc but considering the problems in zimbabwe at the moment the best they did the best they possibly could. The game was very interesting and the bird life exceptional. The guides were extremely knowledgeable and keen.

We stayed at Matetsi for 3 nights in April. & Beyond are selling/have sold this camp and it shows I'm afraid. The staff are wonderful, making the most of a very difficult time. No mains electricity meant a generator for only part of the time. The buildings are looking tired and need a face lift. The food was only average... More

This great lodge has recently been sold and is presently being upgraded. I have visited a number of times over the years and the staff (all of whom have stayed on) are brilliant. I love the lunches being served via butler in your lodge, the private splash pool overlooking the Zambezi river. We had elephants outside our bedroom and a... More

These are the most luxurious accomodations I've ever experienced. The bathroom itself is apartment sized, and for our anniversary the staff prepared a bubble bath filled with flowers and champagne on ice. The service was impeccable throughout our stay. There is a beautiful bedroom, an outdoor shower, a veranda, and a private plunge pool. I cannot say enough about how... More

We stayed in the Matetsi Water Lodge on the game reserve and did game drives morning and evening. The lodge is about a 20 minute drive through the bush, is located on the Zambezi River (not the Zanzibar, as listed above), with cabins widely separated in the middle of the jungle. Sometimes we ate in an open dining area overlooking... More

We visited Matetsi in April 2011 on our way to the Victoria Falls and were completely taken by the hospitality and accommodation. The game drives at dawn and dusk were the "real thing" and the dinners on the banks of the great Zambezi, under the African stars, were magnificent. The accommodation in a "royal" hut included a private plunge pool on... More

Stayed at the Matetsi Water Lodge for three nights as part of a packaged tour. Was treated royally throughout my stay. Even though I was part of a larger tour group, the staff at Matetsi (housekeeping, kitchen, and game drive) always made you feel personally attended to. The lodges setting on the edge of the Zambezi River is idyllic and... More

My husband and I had a spectacular introduction to the Safari experience in October. Only superlatives would be appropriate to describe the hospitality, accommodations and level of knowledge about the flora and fauna. The night drive following the leopard tracks, the African sunset and the meals by the river will be treasured memories.
