#16 of 95 B&Bs / Inns in Harare
Bushman Rock Safaris is located a mere 40 minutes from Harare City Center. Unique to Zimbabwe it is the only lodge located on a working vineyard and winery. The vineyards are located within a 450 hectare private wildlife reserve stocked with 18 species of plains game including Buffalo, Giraffe and Zebra. The network of thatched lodges lie hidden among tall indigenous trees overlooking the vineyards, lake and out onto the wildlife reserve. Each lodge offers complete privacy and you can chose between king suites or family suites. All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and each lodge has a lounge and veranda with tea and coffee facilities and bar fridges. The lounges all have fireplaces making it ideal for cold winter evenings. The rooms are basically appointed with the natural architectural elements such as artistically designed polished concrete floors, exposed local granite stonework and traditional thatching forming the central focus to the rooms.

This lodge lacks the finish we expected to experience. Stained bed linen. Dirty Cushions. Very old furry blankets under the comforters. The place really needs new linens, cushions, towels and drapes. Only 1 small trash can in the bathrooms, non in the rooms. They need to purchase garden furniture so guests can enjoy the stunning landscaping. No Outside lighting so we couldn't sit on the patio and listen to the rain. The Showers very moldy and the bathroom was dirty. Place lacks finish upkeep and is not well maintained. Thatch needs to be cleaned.....walls very dirty and the Rooms were very dusty. Our dinner was cooked perfectly, flavorful and well presented. All 3 courses were consistent, however the breakfast was terrible. The sausage had a funny smell, the eggs were over cooked despite the request for medium poached eggs. The staff were professional, friendly and very courteous. Wadzanai was a great tour guide. Rasta was awesome and so were Tatenda, Ronald and Sandra. I would definitely go back for a day trip but I wouldn't spend the night, the accomodation is over priced.

Thank you for taking the time to detail your above issues. We take all of the above seriously and will immediately review the operations and will be paying particular attention to the areas of cleanliness as this is of great concern to us. The issues around linens is in the process of being rectified but thank you for keeping our focus on this. We are delighted with the feedback about our staff as this is an area we have been working on and we will pass your comments onto the team. Once again thank you for raising the issues above and we will get onto ensuring these are rectified immediately.

What a fantastic gem hidden in the Melford hills! Amazing romantic spot, great service and outstanding picnic. Work up an appetite by going for the Nature Walk before tucking into our picnic box seated on the banks of the small dam keeping a look out for the wildlife.

Travelled to Bushman Rock for a weekend with family. Good welcome but disappointed it took several days to confirm prepayment which they had requested via ecocash. The rooms are good and the place is beautiful with many activities like rock painting hike, game viewing and horse riding. It would be an amazing place with better management of staff and processes. There was a large group same time with us and we had small kids but we had to request to be moved to a separate due to the noise and drunken nature of other group who had a workshop. Service was slow and not very considerate to customers. If the company can hire a hands on manager for day to day this place can be a 5 out of 5, for now I'd say it's a 3 out 5. Enjoyed the activities and if service improves would try another weekend!

Had a two night stay at Bushman Rock Safaris recently , just 35.5 km out of Harare on the Mutare road - a great venue for a breakaway and ideal for visitors staying in the city and in need of a safari but short on time . The lodge has so much to offer on activities from game drive, wine tasting , fishing , well known as a polo cross destination hosting local , regional events coupled with being a wedding and conference venue . Their lodges are comfortable - thatched and well furnished and are in close proximity to the main lodge which has the restaurant , bar and a pool alongside . The dinners on both nights were of a high standard and beautifully presented - compliments to the Chef . Mine host , Jono and his team made me most welcome and he took time to give me a personal tour of the entire estate to view the game including the buffalo and was briefed on all the farm activities and the close association they have with the nieghbours and the community ( many of the staff have jobs here as a result of this initiative ). Well worth a visit and sure to return !

Thank you so much for your lovely review. I have forwarded this onto our team who are always delighted to get feedback, especially the service and kitchen staff. As a matter of interest, please let me know who your game drive guide was so that we can pass on the review and make a commend him personally.
