Detailed Reviews
I did a thorough search of different accommodations in Harare and settled on Jacana Gardens because of the great price point and nice garden setting of the rooms. I was pleasantly surprised at how clean the place was, and the weather in March was great (the fans helped on warmer days- of note if you’re into AC they don’t have it there; personally I tend to be an AC person but the tiled room with fan was just perfect and it didn’t bother me one bit). I was sad to have missed breakfast each morning as the food seemed simple/healthy and tasty but was always on an early morning adventure somewhere. The location is a little bit outside the city center but that is actually a plus because you get a nice sleep without the city noise and the area is quite safe. The owners are wonderful and help to arrange taxis. Of note, ask them about tours to the Great Zimbabwe if you’d like to make a day trip of it- they helped connect me to a local agency that did a fantastic job organizing my trip so I didn’t have to do allot of thinking and the prices were very reasonable. I look forward to staying with them again and bringing some friends along to enjoy tea in the garden and nice relaxing home stay feeling. Also they had laundry services available with a dryer which was awesome because it helped me pack less :).

What a lovely bungalow and garden, an ideal place for quiet reading or working. The bedrooms are tastefully decorated, comfortable and each one unique. The garden is an oasis of calm with querky metal sculptures. The nose diving elephant and the giant dung beetle make you smile.
We were reliant on transport, but if you have a car this is no problem. I have two suggestions, mosquito nets [I didnt ask so they may have them] and some more options re bring-in food. The breakfast juice and fruit was very nice although the bread might have been fresher.

I spent 8 days at Jacana Garden Lodge in Harare. My cottage was perfect with comfortable lounge, nice bedroom with big cupboard, fitted kitchen with gas nice stove, and a dining space open into a little private garden separated by a thick edge from other cottages. Large bathroom with uninterrupted solar heated water, and continuous electricity supplies.
The Lodge is in a beautiful garden with large trees sheltering many sorts of birds, very quiet and stress free environment.
Riana has been a very welcoming host, checking regularly on our well being, always available and staff is all cheerful and helpful.
Thanks to all for my very pleasant stay

The hosts made me feel very safe and comfortable and took care of all my needs in a very professional way.
It was very cold during my stay but the rooms had adequate warm blankets as well as a heater and warm water. Each guest has access to his/her own small area outside with beautiful garden. Strong wifi coupled with a very cosy environment meant that i conducted my work without any hassles the days went very fast. I truly enjoyed my stay!

I just finished my mandatory 8 days of quarantine at Jacana Gardens. The owners were extremely welcoming and hospital especially given the nature of quarantine. The sanitizing practices were the best I’ve encountered in Zimbabwe and I was truly well taken care of. The room had everything I needed and more. The internet was great and with the solar meant I was never without power. Loved my stay!

An incredible lodge in a convenient, safe place in Harare. My fiancé and I - who are lodge managers ourselves - were in Harare for over 14 days and needed a place to stay that was safe, clean, and had amenities to keep us occupied. Jacana Gardens super exceeded our expectations. It has a beautiful garden, unique artwork and most importantly it felt like home. We enjoyed returning each day after our meetings, etc. Some highlights: shower pressure, big rooms, comfortable beds, delicious breakfast and coffee, DSTV and wifi!
Rian and Willem are the most wonderful hosts and we shared many lovely conversations each morning at breakfast. They were above and beyond accommodating to our needs and helpful providing local guidance on any questions we had.
The entire staff were all lovely, smiley and really make you feel at home even remembering your name! We had a lovely driver arranged by the hotel and he was absolutely brilliant.
Highly recommend and cannot wait to go back!

WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE
This was our second trip to beautiful Zimbabwe and we spent the month of January at Jacana Gardens with Rian and Wim. Our accommodation was spacious and tastefully decorated with extremely well chosen furniture and local art. The overall atmosphere at Jacana Gardens is lovely, featuring artistically developed grounds and wonderful lounging and dining areas for guests. The staff is friendly, efficient and appropriately attentive. Our excellent hosts always ensure that our needs are met, including transportation, dining and shopping ideas. Their exceptional knowledge of Zimbabwe makes the local travel experience all the more rewarding. We look forward to returning for the annual visit to our "home away from home" in Harare. Many thanks to our all of our friends at Jacana.

Warm and friendly owner managed lodge. Owners had the flexibility to adjust my booking at short notice. Meals were tailored to my requests as I had been missing home food. Being a small lodge, I received personal attention from the owners and staff which made my stay homely and comfortable. Rooms have access to the garden which brought a queit and peaceful atmosphere to my stay...highly recommended if you are after a queit and homely stay in Harare.

I lived at Jacana Gardens for three months when I had to write my final exams at my high school in Harare. I thoroughly enjoyed living by myself in the beautiful environment at Jacana gardens. My room was perfect; the beds were comfortable, the bathroom was flawless, and the kitchen was fitted with the best appliances. Furthermore, the room service was flawless and the staff was always friendly. Breakfast was always served perfectly, and the staff were always happy to assist in ordering food from nearby restaurant for delivery.
I truly enjoyed the garden, and was very happy with my own table and chair in front of my room. I spent as much time tanning in the sun as studying. Besides, I had a great time with the owners, who were very hospitable and made me feel at home.
I regard Jacana Gardens as something of a second home to me, and I was very sad to leave in the end.
I would highly recommend staying at Jacana Gardens over any other lodge or hotel in Harare. Whether for a single night, or a long stay, Jacana Gardens should be the go-to for any visitor to Harare.

We stayed at Jacana on 2 different nights during a recent holiday trip to Zimbabwe. Things could not have gone better. Greeted by Rian, and after friendly introductions shown our rooms. Some options regarding amenities (couches, lounge area, kitchen, etc) but all rooms were well appointed, comfortable, and arranged to encourage relaxation and quiet time. Breakfast was excellent, with fresh fruit and pastries, coffee/tea, and hot freshly prepared omelets, bacon, etc. The staff is friendly, responsive, and were very knowledgeable of their jobs and the property in general. Riana and Willem are most helpful in arranging local activities, including transportation, restaurant options, and travel tips. Prices were very reasonable, and provide excellent value.
Nice, quiet, beautiful garden setting in the Borrowdale area of Harare.
Nothing to complain about. Great experience. A nice little oasis amidst the hubub of Harare.

I don't know because I was travelling with a driver. I don't think so, I didn't see anyone who was picked up by Jacana. Perhaps they can arrange a taxi? I don't know the price. Sorry that I cannot be a help. Jacana is great though, good luck!
