The hotel is really beautiful. An old house, that now is a hotel. The inside garden and the view from the roof are really nice. The hotel is located in the middle of the Medina, so it's a little bit difficult to reach the hotel if you take a taxi from the airport. So, be sure before you take the taxi, that the driver knows where is the hotel. In my case, we changed 2 times the driver because they didn't know. You should say that the hotel is just beside the Zitouna mosque. And then, you should walk 400 mts. aprox. The rooms are very well decorated. There's no restaurant as advertised!! The breakfast is simple but ok. You should eat what they give. You cannot choose.

A good location and a spacious room. Noisy at times as it faced the street. Nice included breakfast but there is no restaurant at this hotel as advertised. We felt safe here and enjoyed wandering the Medina. Just a word of warning, everything closes in the Medina at 6pm. There is absolutely nowhere to get food at all after 6pm. Plan ahead and have a big late lunch. Everything is closed on Sunday and there is nothing to do after 6pm except drink mint tea and they close at 9pm. Bring a good book.

First impression of the street was a little off-putting, smelt like cat urine and at night seemed dodgy. However once inside it was quaint and homely and a feeling of calm came over us as we enjoyed the traditional Tunisian hospitality.

Warm weather made the first days easier as after that the Dar became very cold and the fan heating somehow doesn't warm the way an indirect heating system does. I preferred the rooms higher up with an external view rather than those overlooking the courtyards but that is just a question of personal preference. For longer stays a better price can be negotiated than through booking agencies. But be prepared to fork out in cash not cards. Breakfast options adequate and served with a friendly smile by Mustapha the chef. I spent a lot of my time feeding the poor stray cats and hope someone else carries on where I left off. At least it is a quieter end of the Medina and you can avoid the hassling of the traders in the centre.

Right in the middle the medina, this hotel os perfect if you want something more traditional than the big hotels. The rooms a spacious and clean the top floor terrace offer a lovely view on the city. The breakfast is basic but very good. Note : you can't access the hotel by car and depending from where you are entering the medina, you will need to walk around 500 meters. Also, most of the medina shops closes with the sun going down and the streets are poorly lit. Didn't felt treaten by anyone but worth mentionning.
