Davies and his team were so helpful and friendly (and a special mention for Fernades, who always had a huge smile on his face, and couldn’t do more to help you). The tents were clean, luxurious and comfortable. The food was delicious, and we enjoyed every minute of our stay here. Sundowners next to a fire with an amazing view will always stay in our memories. A superbly stay!
The amenities were superb but what made the experience exceptional was the outstanding staff. Everyone was so friendly, helpful, and joyful. I would come back in a heartbeat. The tents were perfect and the food delicious. Asante sana to team Karibu River Camp!
Our experience staying at the Serengeti Mara River Camp was phenomenal. The tents were immaculate, spacious, and private. The staff was also exceptional and took steps to make our vacation spectacular and memorable. Additionally, the on-location restaurant has excellent food, and the restaurant staff is very friendly. I would strongly recommend the Serengeti Mara River Camp to anyone who is looking for a nice place to stay at Serengeti.
My wife, 2 sons (aged 19 and 16) and myself visited Serengeti from 27th Jun to 2nd July 2022. After staying 2 nights in Ngorongoro Lion's Paw and 1 night at Sametu Camp, we reached River Camp for 2 nights stay. We had booked directly with Karibu Camps Our Guide Nuriel (hope I got the spelling right) was a delight as he introduced us to the animal world. This being our first wildlife experience, we were amazed to see what nature has to offer in its original surroundings. He picked us up from Killimanjaro airport (not Arusha) as originally planned and dropped us 6 days later at the Kogatende airstrip. (PS - Please always do one side travel by air and one by road) The team at the River Camp was fabulous under the Manager Mr. Moshi's watchful eye. They almost made us forget the disappointment of not being able to witness the crossing as we were a week early in the migration. We saw hundreds of thousands of wilderbeest and zebra waiting to cross (not sure for what were they waiting for). Maybe another time Noel who waited on us on both days was a delight with his soothing voice, manners and attention to detail. Edward and the others in the Team were all great. Sorry I misplaced the paper on which I had noted their respective names. We were treated to a wonderful singing / dancing impromptu by the team members. Can't get that anywhere. They arranged a sundowner for us as well. It was lovely sitting in the bush and sipping a drink. These memories will be cherished forever.…
Run, don’t walk, to book your stay here. This luxury camp is incredible - it gives you all of the best aspects of a safari stay in one. We were a bit apprehensive about staying in tents but wanted the experience. We did not end up having to compromise on anything and are elated with our choice (we scrutinized reviews before deciding on the Karibu Mara River Camp). Everything was fabulous and I would stay here again in a heartbeat! The main lodge is a very nice building with great Wi-Fi. There is Wi-Fi in the tents close to the lodge so if you care to have Wi-Fi in your room, ask them to be placed in one of the tents next to the lodge. I prefer only having Wi-Fi in the main area and disconnecting when I get to my room. The tents are really hotel rooms with a tent for the roof and outer walls. All of the furniture and facilities are top quality. The bathroom was nicer than the one from the hotel we had stayed at beforehand. There was a porch with a table and chairs which also has a great sunset view. The sun rises on the back side of the tent - make sure to step out early one morning, it’s beautiful! There was a mosquito net around the bed although we barely needed. We only saw one mosquito the whole time. There is a good balance of wildlife considering that you are in the middle of the Serengeti. Animals typically stay away from humans but we did see a zebra one night. Apparently at night you can hear hyenas and other animals but it was not very loud and we slept right though them. In the morning there were lovely birds chirping. The food was great and they were very generous (we could have ordered two entrees each if we would have liked). The alcoholic drinks are very reasonably priced and delicious. The service was impeccable. Every single staff member was phenomenal and spoke great English. They all genuinely want you to have the best possible stay and were incredibly sweet. One of the staff members is a member of the Masai tribe and has a beautiful story - make sure to speak with him! A few examples of the above and beyond service: When we came back to our room after breakfast the bed was already made and they had cleaned the whole room. While we were at dinner they made up the room again - they cleared the decoration from the bed, remade the bed so it was folded up just at the corners and ready for you to enter, and put the mosquito net down. For breakfast and dinner they pull out the chairs for you, push them in while you sit down, and put your napkin on your lap. 5 star restaurant quality service. The offered to give us a wake up call and bring tea or coffee straight to our tent. There is a walkie talkie in the tent where you can communicate with them. After dark they will escort you to your tent in case there are any animals around. We asked them to come pick us up to bring us to the lodge for dinner and they answered us within one second flat. Someone was there within 60 seconds. Any request was not a problem, they were extremely generous. We liked the muffins from breakfast and asked for a napkin to wrap a couple of them to go with our lunch. Instead they gave us a box full of muffins. For lunch they packed us a meal with chicken, vegetables, pasta, and fruit which was all delicious. We wanted something different for the next day and asked if they could make sandwiches. They spoke to the chef who came up with an idea for a delicious lunch (for which I’m sure they weren’t exactly prepared given that they likely need to order all of their ingredients more than a few hours in advance). We were not made to feel like it was a difficult request even though I’m sure it was. A few highlights: They make a bonfire every night and it is the perfect place to watch the sunset. Grab a drink and enjoy it at the bonfire before dinner! My husband and I are here for our honeymoon and they made us feel so special. Our bed was decorated every night (one time saying happy honeymoon, one time with a heart). On our last night they made us a special cake. On our way out I was almost in tears saying goodbye. I cannot explain how incredibly kind every single staff member was to us. Also in the photos I see here it looks like the main lodge is a tent but it is now a finished building. To the manager - if there are other places where we can review you please send the links! I can’t find the camp on Google Maps.…
We stayed for 4 days and 3 nights at this lodge and it was absolutely perfect. On our first night the staff set up an outdoor bar and fire pit which was a better welcome than we ever could have imagined. The location and views of the Serengeti went as far as the eye could see, and the rooms were beautiful, spacious, and clean. The food was delicious and the staff was always willing to accommodate timing or to-go lunches to ensure our game drive plans were prioritized. we couldn't have been happier with our stay at Serengeti River Camp!
Woooooooow!!! What an epic vacation in the Serengeti: we saw the Great Migration, had the most hospitable staff, and enjoyed the beautiful scenery of Northern Tanzania. The accommodations were perfectly created to host big families, small groups or individuals. If you’re looking for a journey that will leave you with memories forever, this is the trip to book. 10/10 experience!! I can’t wait to go back
Because Tanzania travel is just beginning to come back to life, we miraculously had our 3-night stay all to ourselves. Imagine being out in the middle of the Northern Serengeti with a full staff to accommodate our every need. They delivered to the fullest! We had the most delicious meals, our tents were immaculate, and the service was beyond expectation. We'd highly recommend this beautiful spot.
This was our first stop on our Safari and it did not disappoint! The lodge was great; the food was wonderful with generous portions; and the staff were warm and friendly-of all the places we visited they were our favorite! The "tents" were clean, well appointed with hot water for days. Keep in mind the tents have zipper entrance as opposed to doors and they cut into the canvas walls to run the electricity; however, we did not have any unwelcome visitors. Would recommend patching the holes around the cords just to give bug phobic people like me a little more piece of mind. Best part of our stay, they were late one morning bringing coffee because a lion was having a zebra for breakfast at the top of the camp and no one could pass until he left. Only in Africa!!!!
We organized our whole trip with Karibu Camps and Lodges, including the game drive. Let me begin by saying the level of satisfaction with their service was beyond my expectations. A huge shout out to our guide, David. Friendly, knowledgeable and well experienced. The cars provided by Karibu Camps are friendly for the elderly or those who have difficulty to hop into high cars. You may also choose to cruise around the Serengeti in the open cars. The staff is extremely friendly, warm, welcoming, grateful, and happy to have you there. They were very accomodating. Always smiling and prompt! They also made sure all the meals were well prepped according to the dietary restrictions (no onion/garlic). The staff went above and beyond to make our stay homely. They also provide wake-up calls, which includes a coffee/tea. That literally means somebody will come wake you up in the morning, with a hot cup of coffee. The luxury tents at Mara river camp are situated in the wild. The tents include a fully functional plumbing system, bathrooms, and electricity that provides light in the tents and allows you to charge your devices. They also provide a Walkie talkie I'm every tent so you may communicate with the staff. For those social media bugs out there, WiFi is available in the reception/dining area. By evening you can see some zebras and wild beasts near by your tent. And yes, you can hear them through out the night. We were lucky to have an entertaining night by hearing some lion roars and hyena laughs. The sunset views are amazing. The camp also provides a bush dinner for the guests. It's the authentic Serengeti experience! Highlight of the stay: when we were leaving, the whole staff came out to see us off just like saying bye to family members.…
