Detailed Reviews
When we arrived in the Serengeti after our last 2 days near the Ngorogoro crater, I was pleasantly surprised to see the nomadic Camp Zebra. The four safari tents that we would occupy for our group were well spaced out and inside we had a comfortable bed, flush toilet, shower and plenty of space and charm. The common areas were made up of a community tent complete with full bar, plenty of comfy chairs both inside and out. Perfect for viewing both the amazing African sunrises and sunsets.
The staff was amazing. We were greeted by Peter when we arrived and Andrew took our cocktail orders. The food was amazingly good. We had beef stroganoff one night, pork chops the next and leg of lamb on our final night. Bush TV was a fire area with super comfy chairs around which provided entertainment for our group along with the sounds of lions and hyena and so many stars!!
Breakfasts were also very good and filling as our game drives started early each morning. Crepes, eggs, potatoes, mushrooms, sausage/bacon, juice, coffee all the fuel we needed to keep our focus on the animals.
On our final night we were treated to a full round cake for dessert and the ubiquitous song “Jambo Bwana” song performed by all the staff.
We highly recommend a stay with this camp. You will not be disappointed.

Nestled amidst the breathtaking expanse of the Serengeti lies this charming moderate camp, offering an authentic safari experience with a touch of comfort. From the moment we arrived, the camp staff extended a warm welcome, setting the tone for an unforgettable stay.
Our accommodations, comprising two adjacent tents, were equipped with all the necessary conveniences to ensure a comfortable retreat in the heart of the wilderness. With amenities such as running hot and cold water, indoor toilets, and ambient lighting, we felt perfectly at ease amidst the rugged beauty of our surroundings. The attentive staff even took care to turn down our beds each night, adding a thoughtful touch to our stay.
Dining in the inviting atmosphere of the dinner tent was a delight, with meals that surpassed our expectations in both flavor and variety. As darkness descended upon the savannah, we were treated to a thrilling encounter with nature as the distant roar of a lion echoed through the night—a truly unforgettable moment that underscored the wild allure of our surroundings.
For us, this camp was all about striking the perfect balance between modern comforts and immersion in the untamed beauty of the Serengeti. With its convenient amenities and idyllic location, it served as an ideal base for our safari adventure, leaving us with memories to cherish for a lifetime.

Our family of five, with two children aged 10 and 14, spent three nights at this cozy and comfortable camp. The staff was friendly, helpful and accommodating to our requests. The food was great, with three-course meals at lunch and dinner and we were surprised with an anniversary cake on our last night, which was delicious! The tents, which were not fixed structures, had everything one needed, including comfortable beds, flush toilets, soaps and the availability of hot showers. This camp was very close to the airstrip and to the Mara River, to see the wildebeest crossing. Thanks to the staff for making this such a memorable stay!

This camp was awesome, the staff was amazing very helpful and friendly. The room was very comfortable and having a toilet and shower in the room was great. It was very exciting to hear the hyenas pass by the tents at night knowing that our Masai guide was keeping us safe. The food was excellent well above our expectations. We also had a few packed lunches that were delicious and fun to have lunch in the Serengeti under an acacia tree. I would highly recommend this experience of being in the wild with all the convenience of home. The only thing that was lacking would be the showers are pretty primitive ( some one needs to fill the tank outside before you shower) Although they are sufficiently hot it is what we call a military shower, water, soap, rinse, very short but needed.
This picture is from the morning sunrise outside our tent, magical mornings! Overall our experience was outstanding!
Thank you for a wonderful time!

Dear R3018HFcharless, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Camp Zebra. Thank you also for your very kind comments! Camp Zebra is a mobile camp which literally tracks to Great Wildebeest Migration around the Serengeti National Park between the beginning of June till the end of March each year. As the wildebeest move so too does the camp which does not allow us enough time to set-up an elaborate plumbing system. Hence the fact that we use "Safari" showers as indeed do all other mobile and seasonal camp operators on theTanzania Northern Safari circuit. Thanks again and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to Camp Zebra in due course. With kind regards, Marc, Andrew and the Camp Zebra team.

The trip of a lifetime for our family, seeing the big five and visiting several national parks over a 2 week period. The tents were well equipped and comfortable, and we felt we really were at one with nature, hearing lions, hippos and hyenas at night. The team, under Andrew's guidance were all very attentive but not intrusive and the food was excellent. I would definitely recommend this as a place to stay.

The camp is located in a great location within the park with easy access to the air strip and central access to the game drive routes. The facilities and rooms are clean, nice, and designed well. The staff are extremely friendly and eager to help with anything you need. The food was some of the best we’ve eaten during our time in Tanzania and they were very accommodating for when we wanted to take our breakfast or lunch with us to eat during game drives in the bush. Last, but certainly not least, the safari guides are expert drivers and very knowledgeable about the local landscape and animals. I would highly recommend to anyone interested in having a unique and comfortable experience in the Serengeti. I certainly would stay here again!

Where do you even start! This camp is amazing! Camp Zebra is the place to be! Incredible service and so accomodating to all your needs - I have many food allergies and they went above and beyond to make separate meals just for me! The staff here are also amazing, while you’re out on safari they tidy your tent and make it look so nice and even add a hot water bottle at night to your bed when it gets cold. They were even so proactive and took our bag labelled laundry and did our laundry without asking! I would come back in a heartbeat.

Wow, this won’t be an experience we forget in a hurry! These guys deserve medals for their service. Nothing is too much trouble and they will bend over backwards for you. We had an issue with a child being sick in the night and they came and cleared it away with minimal fuss so big thanks to the guys who got that job! Being a temporary camp it’s not quite as luxurious as Intimate Camp Seronera but still very good for a tent! There are no USB chargers though so bring an adapter. We stayed in the family tents, conjoined by a corridor which was perfect for the five of us. Just one word of warning, we did have a hippo outside our tent at 2am one morning. It was very loud and slightly terrifying as there was literally a little big of material between us and a very large wild animal! The highlight of our stay was the cake and the singing we received from the team for our 50th birthday celebrations, it was very special. Thank you Camp Zebra, you’ve been awesome!

Dear Jane E, Thank you very much for also staying at Intimate Camp Zebra during your Safari to the Serengeti National Park! And again, thank you for your very kind review of your stay. I have noted your comment regarding the lack of USB charging points in your tent and will investigate since this should not be the case. Please also rest assured that you were never in any danger from the hippo. Hippos are vegetarians and only become aggressive if you position yourself between them and their pools of water. Thanks again! With kind regards, Marc

This is a mobile tented camp that ensures you are amongst the wildlife of the Serengeti. This innovative, rustic setup provides all you need to enjoy a cozy, glamping experience in nature. Fall asleep to the sounds of hyenas and maybe even lions and wake up to wildebeests and gazelles grazing nearby. The staff was so warm and welcoming and definitely went above and beyond. Unfortunately, on our second night a big storm rolled through with tons of rain and wind. As a result, there was damage to the dining tent so the staff catered our dinner to our tent. It was a magical evening that they made the absolute best of despite a tough situation, all with smiles too. We really appreciated everything they did to make our time memorable.

Hi Fiorella, Thank you very much for your message. I would answer the questions which you raise as follows:
1. September is normally the season of the spectacular river crossings when the wildebeest migration crosses the Mara River so yes, this is a very good time to visit Camp Zebra.
2. Yes, we can assist you to plan your Safari. However, Safaris can vary greatly and are normally designed around a) what you would like to see and b) the budget you have available to spend. I'm afraid that there is no "off the shelf" price which I can quote you. Please bear in mind that Tanzania is not an inexpensive destination and that you should count on upwards of $500 per person per night depending on where you want to go and where you want to stay.
3. September is spring time in Tanzania and the weather is normally very pleasant.
4. yes, we can arrange for you to be collected from the airport upon arrival and returned to the airport for your return home.
With kind regards, Marc
