We stayed here for 3 nights during our safari holiday. The location is great and although it takes about 20 minutes drive to reach the main circuit roads, you are seeing game as soon as you leave the hotel. Being set on the top of a hill affords great views from the pool and terrace areas especially. The welcome at check-in was efficient and friendly. The rooms were clean and comfortable as expected from the Serena chain The draw of the Serengeti as a safari destination makes this hotel busier than the 3 other Serena hotels we stayed at in Arusha, Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara and it seemed to attract larger groups of guests. This resulted in several split parties in the dining area; with adults sitting oblivious at one large table (or even outside) while their children were grouped at another being really noisy and with nobody in charge of them. It just spoiled the tranquil setting a bit for us. The dining area itself was rather dark and I felt the food was not quite as good as the other places either although there was still sufficient choice and the service was good. Staff take the safety of guests very seriously and you are escorted from your rooms to the main building and back after dark as there is no fence to keep animals from entering the grounds. We were told that buffalo and leopard have both been regular visitors to the pool after dark. Special thanks to Gerard; pool waiter who was keen to talk about Tanzania with us and also taught our daughter a couple of good card games which she really enjoyed. Don’t get me wrong, we thoroughly enjoyed our time here, it just didn’t quite have the edge of the other Serena hotels - but then we were well and truly spoiled in terms of where we stayed.…
We spent two nights here for our honeymoon and we were given a room with a wonderful view. It is incredible they can operate such a luxurious and clean hotel with amazing food out on the Serengeti. It was a great experience and the service was fantastic, especially John who took great care of us at meals.
We loved this hotel. We stayed two nights in the little thatched bedroom houses, and it was all amazing. The staff are very friendly and the food is delicious. The rooms and bathrooms, grounds and pool as well as the common areas of the hotel, are stunning. The views over the Serengeti and the cocktails are fantastic!
Stayed here in 6/2022 and of the 5 lodges we visited this is my #1 choice. Beautiful rooms, very nice common areas, really amazing food, nice bar, very friendly staff and a great location. Unless you want to splurge for the Four Seasons, this is as good as it gets. Serena's property at Ngorongoro is also highly recommended.
Tough to review as I spent so little time actually using the lodge, even though I stayed for 4 nights! Leaving for safari at 6am and not returning til 7pm (or later), with boxed breakfasts & lunches don’t leave much time to experience the lodge itself. But I’ll do what I can. Checking in is a bit hectic If multiple parties arrive at once. But the staff are friendly. You are required to call reception for an escort from the rooms to the main lodge, all of the guards were extremely friendly, pointing out any wildlife in the grounds as you walk. The evening dining experience was also a little hectic, usually a buffet style, whilst the food itself was excellent, if you’re there at a busy time, some of the behaviour of other guests can be challenging! My toes we’re the victims of overzealous fellow travellers at the hit plate a couple of times. The rooms are good, not the size of the Serena Arusha or with the dramatic views of the Serena Ngorogoro but perfectly fine. I would stay here again and recommend.…
The location of the hotel speaks for itself, we watched wildlife from our balcony in the evenings. What really stood out however was the outstanding staff who really makes our stay here special and memorable.
Sol adventure they a good organise. Before you travel their make sure your ticket, your budget, very friendly and welcoming. They are always willing to help you to choose trip you need. Was great experience for us. We recommend this Sol adventure if you visit Tanzania Tips: They are good to help you. Asante Sol Adventure
This is an older lodge, but the rooms were still quite nice, as was the main dining/bar area. Food was excellent, especially the nights they had live stations. A few things though which no longer make Serena the brand of choice in east Africa. Our twin room had three beds! The rooms are small as it is, and this resulted in even less space. I also can't believe they still charge for water!! No other lodge does. You get one tiny bottle of water in the room each day, and everything else you have to buy.
It is a lovely place with a fantastic, friendly and very welcoming staff. They are always willing to help and will accommodate to your need. It was a great experience for us and we had a great time staying here. I highly recommend this hotel if you visit Serengeti
Stayed at the lodge via Amazonia Expeditions on safari. It was wonderful and the staff were accommodating and just plain friendly! On the side I had many of them teaching me to speak Maasai. Always solicitous of our comfort and well-being. Peaceful and interesting stay.
