Located in South Central Serengeti, within the Moru Kopjes area, Serengeti Pioneer Camp is ideally situated to offer superlative access to the annual migration and the ‘Big 5’ with sweeping views overlooking Moru Kopjes, Lake Magadi and the endless plains. Paying homage to the mobile camps of the 1930’s, a time when an African safari was truly a journey into the unknown, Serengeti Pioneer Camp’s ‘zero footprint’ and close proximity to nature combines to make an unmistakably distinctive and truly individual offering. Comprising of twelve-tented rooms, all of which have en-suite facilities including a flushing toilet, vanity basin, and showers, the tent interiors are designed to evoke the very best of an era long-gone but certainly not forgotten.

Having stayed at most camps and lodges in Serengeti we feel that Elewana Pioneer Camp is a special and outstanding one. This already starts with the arrival inside a formation of rocks that could have been used for the Lion King movie. After we got out of our safari vehicle we were guided up a walkway to the bar and lounge area where we were blown away by the views over the Serengeti. Our tent gave us an explorer feeling, as a lot of attention to detail was spent on the interior design. The bed was extremely comfortable, only the shower was a little small but absolutely sufficient for a shower after a game drive. For dinner we were spoiled with a romantic private dinner at the remote location a little bit away from the main dining area. The service and food we enjoyed was among the best we have ever received! We highly recommend to stay here!

Watching the endless plains of the Serengeti, where man first walked erect (it was actually a woman, Lucy), is like satisfying a most instinctive need. Being our first time in a safari, we've been spolied for life: unbeatable place, the friendliest staff, and food for the most demanding! We arrived at the property after our first game drive ever with a great guide, Logolie, and were welcomed by the staff from the camp, after which mainly Juma, John and James, but also Noel and Rodgers, made sure we were at our complete leisure. We were surprised by the wide variety and great taste of food and wines in such a remote location -kudos for the Chef!-- and what it means in logistical terms. The tent was perfect, with all the amenities and conveniences needed for a great stay. We had the BEST SLEEP at night ever, with only the sounds of the wild. And watching the sunrise from the lodge at the camp is a must and a highlight for anyone visiting the Serengeti.

This lodging offers everything that you imagine on an African safari adventure. Of all the places I stayed at on this 3 week trip, Pioneer Camp had the best food and friendliest staff. The location is remote, the views are incredible, and the wildlife is right in your backyard.

The best part of this camp is definitely the view. You can sit on the viewing dock, sip a drink and watch the sunset after a long day of driving on the “roads” of the Serengeti. The welcome was exceptional and the food was really good. There is wifi in the common areas and charging points. No wifi in your tent. Had a lot of impalas roaming around the camp when we were there. Tents are nice and cozy. If you wake up easily due to noises bring some earplugs.
