Having arrived after a disappointing experience involving smoke and controlled fires at a sister camp (refer to my review of Ubuntu Camp), the clean air surrounding Dunia Camp was a welcome change of pace. However, aside from the smoke-free air, Dunia Camp was a far better experience relative to Ubuntu. A permanent camp situated about an hour drive from the... More

First things first - Dunia is an all women's camp in the middle of the Jungle - a new concept which Asilia is trying out - how amazing !!. Kudos to Asilia for that. What was truly outstanding was that our safari driver and guide were women and what a spectacular job they did!!. We have to mention their names... More

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dunia Camp. I love the fact that the camp is unique in that it is completely run by a female staff--their attention to detail and prompt service truly sets them apart from the other sites we stayed at during our trip in Tanzania. I have to give a shout-out to Angel!... More

Camp Dunia is amazing! i knew the place was special when we first arrived and was greeted by dancing and singing from the staff. To be able to camp in the middle of the Serengeti is unreal, and Camp Dunia makes it truly special with its beautiful accommodations, but most importantly the staff makes the experience truly special. The personal... More

We totally enjoyed our 3 nights here. Staff was amazing. We Surprisingly celebrated a 65 th birthday with dinner tables set up under the stars lit with lanterns. Music, singing, and dancing before they presented the birthday boy with a Maasi cloth, inviting him in as an elder. What a special night. Food was excellent and the wine even better.... More

I am already planning my return! Dunia camp was amazing. Breathtaking views of the plains, visits by impala and many, many birds -- all well in the care of the best staff I have ever had the pleasure of being a guest of. Angela, in particular, was a joy - and a great teacher of Swahili (if you ware interested... More

Stunning! So very different from the rest of the Serengeti. The adjacent terrain is dominated by Thorn trees, river lines and small mountains. There is also a large wetland visible from the camp in the distance. The camp is similar to most luxurious tented camps but what sets this camp apart is the staff. We had so much fun at... More

When we were at this camp, it had been operated for 2 wks by a fabulous group of women. They met us with songs and dances and invited us to join in. We left the same way-to dances and singing! We loved the enthusiasm and we salute Asilia for giving them this opportunity. The food was very good and we... More

Nice location, perfect view in front of the rising sun for breakfast, furniture and tents are fine (it's an surendettement ...), and fine people. The dinner was very good, and having e drink around the fire was just magic. It is like being in "Out of Africa"

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Dunia is a small, intimate camp that evokes a sense of being immersed in nature - as close as you will ever get - while still being able to enjoy the warm hospitality and luxury that the camp offers. Attention to detail is balanced with an essence of graceful simplicity that is in harmony with its tranquil and exclusive location. Dunia Camp offers superb game viewing all year round from its secluded location in the south west corner of the Central Seronera Valley - the heart of the Serengeti. This area is renowned for its abundance of game, especially big cats and is right in the path of the extraordinary annual Great Migration of hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and zebra. Dunia is an intimate camp with a simple yet graceful style that reflects the camp's philosophy of leaving the lightest footprint while enhancing the Serengeti wilderness experience. The eight spacious tents, slightly elevated on the slope of Nyareboro Hill, feature an en-suite bathroom and veranda from which magnificent views of the golden-grassed plains of the Serengeti unfold. Canvas chairs and coir mats adorn the private verandas, while hurricane lamps provide a flicker of vintage charm as the sun dips behind the region's iconic granite outcrops. Weathered wood, sturdy canvas and fine linen: Dunia is a place of comfortable simplicity and effortless charm, where unnecessary distractions are pared away. ... more   less
