About

#120 of 172 Specialty lodging in Serengeti National Park
Location
Service
This Luxury Camp is strategically located within the northern (Kogatende) area of the famous Serengeti National Park in Tanzania and is set amidst the most prime areas of the Serengeti following the path of the great migration, sparsely inhabited by large Acacia as well as Tortilis Tree’s and is home to several species of wildlife that reside in this area year round due to catchments of water bodies around the area. Due to the Campsite’s ideal location, the great spectacle of the world-famous annual migration can be witnessed almost as close as to the camp’s doorsteps – since the site lies along one of the main migratory corridors/routes, which the wildebeest use during their Great Migration going to and fro the North and South of the Serengeti.

Perfect location, perfect service, amazing hospitality! If you want to splurge, come here! It’s not cheap, but if you can afford it, it will be worth your while. It’s incredible to enjoy this amount of luxury in the midst of the Serengeti, just meters from the Wildebeest Migration. Thanks to Katikati Safaris for bringing us here!

Overall Experience: My wife and I stayed at Ole Serai Kogatende for two nights during our honeymoon safari. This is a luxury camp that blew our minds. The room was incredible, the staff was perfectly accommodating and the scenery was beautiful. We couldn’t wait to end our safari game drives so we could get back and relax at the camp. On our last morning I saw a family of Zebras a hundred meters from our tent. The Staff: Jon, Patrick and Chef Raymond made sure our stay was everything we could have dreamed of. Patrick is a great host and a kind man. He made us feel immediately at home. He also took some great surprise photos of our hot air balloon ride as we flew above the camp. Jon made us feel like royalty. He looked after our every need and left no desire unmet. He even prepared a beautiful design on our table for a romantic honeymoon dinner celebration. Jon is a class act and clearly approaches his work as a craft. Raymond prepared beautiful meals consistently. He also regularly checked with us to make sure everything was to our liking. The lunches he packed for our game drives were especially great and exactly what we needed during a long day of driving. The rest of the staff was also amazing. They were always there to escort us to and from our room. They made us feel safe and comfortable. Housekeeping always made sure our room looked perfect. They also left us an amazing surprise cake for our last night. It was such a nice and thoughtful gesture. Everyone who works at this lodge seemed to love what they do and it showed through their hospitality The Room: We knew the tent lodging was different than your average camping experience but we were not prepared for this level of luxury. Once inside the tent with the sides rolled down you will forget that you are camping. The decor will remind you of a five star hotel that Indiana Jones designed. The bathroom was perfect with a toilet and running hot water. The rain shower was also amazing and gave us the hot showers we needed after a long day in the dust. The Food: We were shocked to have such amazing dining experiences in the middle of the Serengeti. The ingredients used were all fresh and delicious. The fresh fruit and grilled meat was especially outstanding. Chef Raymond made every plate look beautiful. The wine was also delicious.

Excellent camp to experience the northern Serengeti. Chose this location to catch the migration before it moves north to Kenya. The camp is luxurious as it's title suggests, and although under canvas it is fixed so has hot and cold running water, flush toilets and 24 hour electricity. Was not busy when we were there in fact for our first day we were the only guests. We had our own individual guide for the duration of our stay which meant we got to choose what we wanted to do. The food was great and of a high standard. We were not aware that there was a daily allowance of approximately $70 which came as a pleasant surprise on settling our drinks bill at departure. Packed lunches meant uninterrupted game drives although the park regulations mean that you are supposed to be back in camp before 6pm unlike some previous safari experiences we have had in South Africa. Seeing a Wildebeest herd crossing the Mara river was the highlight, closely followed by the balloon ride at dawn. Would certainly recommend this camp.

There are not enough words to explain our gratefulness of our stay at this extremely beautiful luxurious camp! Usually we mention how amazing the scenery was or how beautiful our accommodation was, or even how delicious the food was, all was as wonderful as could hope for. However, it was the people who work here Damien and Patrick among the others, whom we now call our friends, that made our visit here the most memorable as we could have ever hoped for, and we look forward to the next time we visit!!

We stayed here in July 2019, towards the end of our trip and appreciated the especially warm welcome we got at this location. The camp appears to be under energetic young management who seems to be able to motivate each staff member to make it a point of personal pride to provide excellent service in a warm and genuine way that makes you feel like you are among friends. The place still feels brand new in a good way, since of course it has been fully completed by now. A special touch was the option to have dinner under the stars by a camp fire and later falling asleep in our tent while listening to the sounds of the nearby Mara river.
