Detailed Reviews
This is better than actual camping in tents since there is running water, toilet and shower in the room. The room is in an actual tent that is on a wooden platform. The walls are canvas and they have zipped windows (the room attendant opens and closes from the outside). The door to the room consists of 2 zippers (outside canvas and inside mesh). There is a dining hall, Lounge and outdoor space. There are Masai warriors who walk you to your room at night since there is no fence around the camp. We saw Cape buffalo one night and heard a lion and monkeys at night time. There was wifi in the rooms. There was electricity and water 24 hrs. Overall an experience!

We had a great experience within the park in luxury tents with an ultra-warm welcome and the meals, in the form of buffets, were of very good quality.
We were in front of a magnificent spectacle of baboons, gazelles, zebras...and in the evening a small fire. ..
These are ecolodges with solar water heating and private bathrooms.
We loved this place and the departures at 6 a.m. allow us to see the animals hunting...we are on their territory.
I recommend without reservation for those who want nature because we were protected by the Massais who do the rounds and we feel safe...they have such knowledge of animals

We really enjoyed our time at the Embalakai Authentic Camp in Serengeti National Park! The most memorable part of our stay was the hospitality and friendliness of the staff. The manager, Jonas, was wonderful at his job! We enjoyed getting to talk with the Masai warriors who were on staff and escorted us to/from our rooms. Tonge even tried to teach us how to throw his spear (which we were horrible at!). All of the staff members were always smiling and anxious to help us or answer our questions.
We also enjoyed the setting of the lodge itself. Of course it was remote, which meant we could see endless stars! The property backed up to a grassy area and a river (the river valley was deep so we couldn't see the water), so there was wildlife to observe - mongoose and a tribe of baboons.
The tented camps were clean and comfortable. The beds were comfortable and the bedding was exceptionally soft. It was nice to be able to open/close the canvas flaps to adjust the temperature. We appreciated that the camps were eco-friendly. Naturally this comes with some trade-offs for creature comforts - for example the lights were dim at night. But, our toilets flushed and we had hot water - which is all I need! The food was also high quality. We ate chicken, beef, lamb, as well as good vegetarian options.

Our experience at Embalakai was phenomenal. We have continued to talk about how this is one of the coolest places we've stayed on any of our trips and my fiance and I are both avid travelers!
Staff were helpful, always friendly, and very knowledgable. Food was delicious (and when there was a soup or an appetizer I didn't want to eat because of my diabetes, they were always so flexible in bringing me an alt option!), our tent was very comfortable. We traveled across Tanzania for 2.5 weeks and this shower was one of our best in the entire country - both in consistent hot water and water pressure. We could always charge our phones and our cameras at night, and the wifi was reliable in our tent.
We saw a family of monkeys, giraffe, zebra, gazelle, hyena, buffalo, and antelope at camp in our 2 days there, and we heard lions at night! A great launching point for being able to have all-day game drives in the Serengeti.
We always felt safe and protected - the Massai warriors walk you to your room and the main tent at night, and our room was very secure.
Rooms are tented walls with a screen layer and a layer like a blackout curtain, and we slept incredibly well in our king bed. Would absolutely return to Embalakai Camps!!

+1
What a great place to stay in the Serengeti. The tents/rooms are nicer than many hotel rooms with very soft linens and pillows and well appointed bathrooms. We had 2 tents, one with a king and one with a king and double for our kids. Being a tent, showers were a bit long as you wait for the hot water to reach you.
The views from the rooms was amazing. The baboons walk by every evening to get to their perch in the trees.
Once the sun goes down, you need to have an escort to get to/from the dining hall....and for good reason. One evening (see photo), there was a leopard watching us have dinner. Another evening, there was a hyena in the parking lot. You can hear the baboons, lions and other animals throughout the evenings as well.
The food was great with many made to order parts like pasta in the evening and eggs in the morning.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. My daughter became ill and while we were having dinner, many of them stopped by to check on her to see if she needed anything.
Definitely an experience you should have while on safari in the Serengeti.

This was our second stop on our 3 day safari through the Serengeti and Ngorongoro national parks and it was everything we’d hoped for and more. The camp staff welcomed us with a delicious juice drink after a long day of safari and escorted us through the beautiful campgrounds and into our tent which was extremely spacious. The tent itself was zipped with protective mesh so no bugs could get in and had lights, a clean bathroom with hot water and a wonderfully comfortable bed. At night the staff put warm heating pads inside the bed covers so we were very warm. Every detail was so thoughtful: shower slippers, fresh towels, toiletries, and a chocolate present when we got back from dinner. The Masai kept us safe and even did a traditional singing and dancing performance during dinner. The food was beyond delicious and the fire pit outside the main lodge was perfect for relaxing.

Wow, what a place! We could not believe when we literally were watching herds of zebra and giraffe and then turn down one tiny dirt road and arrived at the camp! Expect some wildlife noises at night!
On our five day tour of Tanzania we stayed at hotels and luxury lodges but the food at the camp was better than anything else hands down! How they managed to pull that off I have no idea but hats off to the chefs! A little tip, just keep an eye on your water at this point of your trip. You cannot drink any of the tap water of course, so the bottles you have brought with you are basically everything you have and bottles at the camp are not unlimited. My advice is to buy extra water each day of your stay to ensure you do not run out.
The rooms were absolutely lovely, the beds were clean and neat and mosquito nets were on everything. My only little grumble there was a hole in ours, but a quick knot sealed it up. As in all camps, keep your luggage zipped and off the floor. The showers were great and warm and yes my fellow western tourists there were western toilets throughout!
Embalakai does a brilliant job of brining some luxuries while getting you right into the heart of things. Putting your feet up around a camp fire with a G&T in hand with baboons squabbling in the trees is something special. Make sure you have some single dollars on you for tips, everyone is so keen for you to be happy and comfortable it is hard not to want to tip these lovely people.
The one thing that did spoil the experience a bit was checking out at the end of the stay. We were told card payments were perfectly fine but then at the end the card reader was not working. So there was a rather awkward end to our stay were we needed to cough up cash (basically every penny we had) for all the drinks and extras we had paid for expecting to be able to pay on card at the end. If we had simply been told its cash only we would have watched what we spent more closely and not had an issue. So lesson learned, have cash to cover everything you spend at this point of your tour.
Overall a brilliant experience, book here and have a wonderful time with these special people and stunning scenery!

Dear,Charlesgrey89. We would like to begin by thanking you for the time you have taken to share your experience with us as well as for your preference in selecting embalakai camp. We glad to hear that the food and the staff is appreciated as well as our facilities and amazing view, with wild animals surrounding the camp. However we truly regret that your stay at Embalakai did not fully meet your expectations regarding water experience we would like to inform you that the camp offer safe and clean water for drinking on refilled jugs that are placed in every room,we do this because we try to avoid the use of plastic bottles as much as we can to preserve the environment. We are also sorry that you experience problem while trying to make payments,we accept online payments such as pesapal but due to the remoteness of the area the camp is located some few times we do experience network problem. Thank you for your important feedback that will help us to make any necessary actions to keep improving day by day. We are looking forward to having the opportunity to welcome you back soon. Kind regards The Embalakai camp Team.

Of all the places we stayed on our East African safari, this was my favorite. It wasn't the nicest, it didn't have the best food and the amenities were minimal, but I loved the people there and how remote it was.
This was the only place we stayed that wasn't enclosed by a security fence so there was no strolling around after dusk and before dawn. If you needed to go somewhere, you called on the radio and one of the Maasai guards would come and escort you. Same thing to get to your tent after dinner. In the morning, they would either tell us what animals they saw during the night (cape buffalo and hippo during our stay), or we'd see the tracks where the ground was soft. Also, we could hear the lions and they were close and on both sides of the camp.
The tents were nice enough. Not even the most glamorous tents we stayed in but they were clean, had a shower and a toilet and we were always so tired by the end of the day, we had no trouble going to sleep. The food was good and more than enough. Again, not the best food we had at a camp or lodge we stayed at, but it was tasty, and the chef and his staff were so nice and personable.
It was nice to sit on the patio in the evening before dinner and have a drink and watch the baboons just across the river come to the tree they stay in every night and jostle for position in the branches. It was a tremendous place to relax and just enjoy being in the middle of the Serengeti. I would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a place to stay there.
