In February of 2020, my group of 4 (one couple and two singles) spent two nights in three tents at the Karibu camp’s ‘The Woodlands’ southern Serengeti location. It was a beautiful setting on a hillside overlooking the plains.
The tents were very clean and well kept and has just about every amenity you would need for your stay. Even though it was summer, It got pretty cold there on the plains but I always felt so warm and snug in bed at night listening to the far off hyenas and the not so far off lions around camp.
On the second night, we were the only group in camp and were taken care of superbly by Francois and his colleagues. Big shoutout to these kind gentlemen!!!
The food was great and The Woodlands was actually my favorite camp of our nine day safari.
If I can mention one disappointment in hopes of gaining improvement, it is that the camp does not take credit cards to settle incidentals upon checkout but is strictly cash only.! We were not informed at checkin of the and this seems to be the case with all Karibu properties. If you want to enjoy extras like beer or wine it forces you to use the cash you may have allotted for other purposes, thereby challenging you budget. When I mentioned my disappointment to an employee his answer was that they were out in the middle of nowhere. But I can’t help but to observe that every other camp we stayed at except for the two Karibu properties accepted credit card payment with no problem. And that includes this trip and a previous safari in 2018. All others accepted credit cards. I even am very happy to pay any surcharge that may be associated with having this service. I hope the Karibu company will reconsider their policy and find a way to add this convenience to their guests when using their properties.
Otherwise, I had a great 2 night stay and I look forward to returning someday, possibly to their Northern Serengeti location.

We had 3 tent/cabins for 3 nights in late December and it was magnificent. First, we were between groups and were the only guests. Amazing! The staff was incredible, the accommodations exceeded our expectations. Plenty of room in bedroom area, large bathroom was curtained off with shower, sink and counter space, shelving, towel racks, curtained toilet area. Very comfortable. Could hear animals while safely tucked in at night. Amazing stars at night. Common area was nice, bar, lounge, dining room and firepit. Food was excellent, especially the vegetarian sweet curry (and they were kind enough to share the recipe.) Not fancy, but quite nice and for these city folks on safari in the Serengeti, it was just right. We would definitely return and would highly recommend.

My husband and I stayed at the Woodlands camp for 2 nights and were expecting a tent. We still can't believe this is a mobile camp! The accommodations were beyond our expectations. Out large 2 room tent had 24 hours of electricity, 2 comfortable beds, a couch, coffee table, desk, and a separate changing room with a flush toilet, sink, shower, and large changing area. We were met with a cool towel to wash our face and the staff was friendly. There is a tent with several couches and chairs for lounging and it has WIFI! Another tent is used for dining and the food was delicious. The location was ideal as we started our game drives right from camp. There were giraffes, zebras and wildebeest nearby.

Woodlands was a restful oasis in the Serengeti. After a long game drive, we were welcomed with a cold drink and a tent with a large, comfortable bed. Woodlands was more rustic than other camps, but had everything we needed and wanted. Although hot water was only available in the evenings, a cool shower in the afternoon felt great. The dining and relaxation areas had a wonderful vista of the Serengeti, and the food was remarkably good. The staff were wonderful- kind, caring, with a knack for making us feel welcome and at home.

This facility was recommended enthusiastically by friend who visited Serengeti last year. We were not disappointed. The location is magical in a woodland area viewing the
lush vastness of Serengeti. We were surrounded by birds, giraffes and flowers. The staff, supported by a wonderful manager by the name of Issa, is lovely always ready to serve, help and made our stay so pleasant. They readily accommodated us being pescatarians, even preparing the fish to our taste. Thank you guys. The accommodations are beautiful, clean, amply supplied and very cozy. We did not find any significant cons, maybe the beer at times was just cool instead of cooler which they solved for us once we asked them. A paradise we hope to be able to visit again. Highly recommended.

We stayed at Woodlands for 2 nights as part of our larger safari trip with Karibu Camps.
The service was excellent at Woodlands - all the staff were always on hand to greet us as we arrived back from our safaris. In particular the food was amazing!! It was hard to believe we were eating gourmet food in the middle of the Serengeti.
Location was also excellent - on our 2nd night we had a herd of giraffes walk through the camp as we were having a drink at the fire.
I couldn't recommend Woodlands enough. Thank you.

Woodlands Camp was at the foot Naabi hill in a wooded area with giraffe welcoming us to our tent. The facilities are upscale tents with ensuite shower and toilet facilities. There is solar power in the tents but some of the outlets were damaged. WiFi is primarily in the reception area. The tents were very comfortable and sleep quality was excellent. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Food was average for the area. The migration was visible from the facility one of the days we were there. Lions were regularly heard at night. We enjoyed our time at Woodlands and would return in the future.

Our guide, John, has and amazing knowledge and is very patient. He showed us so many animals, even the ones that are difficult to see. He can spot the animal from long distances and always put us in the perfect place to get really close to them.

Woodlands is nestled in the Serengeti right outside of the entrance to the park. A unique and serene "home" to come to after a day's long drive or safari. It is a well-appointed camp, offering the luxuries of a screened-in sitting area with sofas and chairs, wifi, and dining area. They also have a stocked bar, perfect for having that glass of wine celebrating the day.
The staff is amazing and readily there to assist you with amenities, information or just plain conversation. And if you wish, they will build a bonfire for you to stay warm as the sun goes down. In general, they are always happily at your service.
Do not hesitate to book Woodlands Camp Serengeti. You will not be disappointed!
