Our trip to the Serengeti was outstanding because of the Grumeti Asanja staff and facilities. They were attentive, kind, patient and professional! The facilities were 5 star all the way and it was the perfect arrangement for our family of 4. The kids were comfortable and warmed up to the staff easily! The safari drives accommodated for our needs and the lunch on the safari was the best we’ve had! We will definitely come back!
We LOVED our 3 nights at Grumeti. Camp Manager, John, was amazing. Our family of 4 was treated like royalty. We had breakfasts in the bush, dinner under the stars, and a fully stocked vehicle for every game drive. The staff attended to our every need. I can’t recommend this Asanja location enough!
Had the pleasure and privilege of spending a few days with John and his amazing staff, Kazi, Rashid, Emanuel, Pemba, Deringa, great Chef whose name starts with S, Moses the warrior - what a welcoming team of smiles and warmth! They took care of my boys like their own family. Their hospitality exceeded our expectations and their professionalism was impeccable. The tents were perfect and had all the amenities one would expect while glamping. They took care of all the details, preserved safety and comfort while still grounded in the reality of being in the Serengeti. The food was so healthy, good quality meats, low glycemic carbs - very wholesome and least amount of processing. My family was so blessed! Honorable mention to Erick, our most wonderful game driver. Erick is an incredible young man in his thirties who has the wisdom of an 80yo when it comes to the Serengeti. I was a biology major and took a course Mammology in college. The man taught me things about God's amazing creatures that I did not learn in a textbook. He's been doing this for 11 years yet he still gets just as excited as his clients when a lion or cheetah is spotted. And that excitement was contagious. He let the spirit of the Serengeti guide us and the Serengeti blew us away! We saw so many animals in this one trip, lions mating, cheetahs running and climbing termite mounds, leopards dragging kills into the balanite tree, taking naps up on the branches, elephants walked between our jeeps.... Erick treated our boys like his own nephews, engaged them with great facts about animals, answered all their unending questions, he was so patient and gentle. We realized that so many variables had to fall into place and some other guests may not have as much luck. Asanja is so lucky to have someone like Erick - he belongs in the top elite as a wildlife guide and game driver. Special shot out to Ajay - the man never sleeps. His prompt, organized responses never left any questions or doubts - he alone is great marketing for Asanja. We are so grateful to have had the experience of a lifetime. My boys will never forget this safari for the rest of their lives. PS: If insects bother you in any way, shape of form, this may not be the place for you. They are everywhere, they're beautiful and plenty but everywhere. This safari is adventure heavy too during the rainy season, hang on tight while crossing rivers! It's all part of the adventure and you can rest assured you'll be safe if you have Erick.…
This was by far the most elegant tented camp we visited on our Serengeti safari. All the staff seemed so happy to be working there. With only three tents, it felt like you were alone with nature. We were there with our 15 year old grandson who was the first to spot an elephant in the distance. The outside shower was a joy after a long dusty day as were the wet towels awaiting us on our arrival. Bites with an aperitif before diner at the campfire were delightful. Both nights we dined under the stars with lanterns hanging from the trees. You will not be disappointed.
We returned last week from a family trip to the Northern Circuit in Tanzania. After extensive research into numerous safari companies, as well as specific camps, I found Asanja Africa. They have their own camps in several locations, and were also knowledgeable and able to help with all of the other arrangements, such as internal flights, transfers, and other camps. Ajay from Asanja was an amazingly responsive and helpful representative, who was totally dedicated to working closely with me to understand exactly what we were looking for and to create an itinerary that met our needs. Ajay made sure our trip was coordinated with the Serengeti migration to maximize our experience. Ajay was great, and his level of service, concern, and focus on our trip continued throughout our trip. He stayed in touch all along the way, and immediately got back to me with any information or help I needed. He is an amazing example of perfect dedicated customer service. The first Asanja camp we went to was Moru for four days, and then we moved on to the Asanja Grumeti Camp for four more days. Both camps were absolutely beautiful, and the locations were stunning. Both camps struck the perfect balance between being relaxed, low-key, small, and intimate, and at the same time being very comfortable, luxurious, and truly special. Both Managers, Bariqi at Asanja Moru, and John at Asanja Grumeti were totally focused on the highest quality customer service, and made our family group of six feel like welcome guests in their home. All of the staff couldn’t have been more professional, and they offer a truly five-star service experience, (similar to the best of hotels) in the bush, in a relaxed and casual way. Perfect! Everybody looks very happy to be working at Asanja, and that joy and fun permeate the entire experience. We got to know and really like all of the folks working at each camp. The tents, the furniture, and all amenities are beautiful, and the food was absolutely delicious. Whether it’s dining under the stars, on the savannah, or at the camp lodge, the staff always tried to make each meal into a special dining experience. The chef was flexible in accommodating any specific dietary requirements (vegetarian), and they took great pride in every course of every meal. Meals varied between traditional Tanzanian (home) cooking, and more elegant (western) cuisine, and all of it was very delicious and plentiful. Of course, a lot of what safaris are about is the game viewing and touring around the Serengeti. With all of the wonderful aspects of Asanja and the camps themselves, truly the most wonderful and important aspect that really “makes or breaks” the quality of the safari experience is the game drive guide/driver. We travelled with Erick, our driver for eight days, and I can’t speak highly enough about him. He too, was completely focused on making sure my family and I had the very best, most exciting and interesting experience we possibly could. Erick’s knowledge of the Serengeti and the animals was absolutely amazing! We saw ALL of the animals in the most close up and intimate way. Erick was tireless in his focus on ensuring that we’d see as much as we possibly could, and he had the answers absolutely to any questions we had. He found wildlife with the keen eye of an experienced professional, and he knew where to go and how to maneuver through the park. Erick made sure our wildlife encounters would feel intimate and private, and he successfully avoided us having the feeling of being in a crowded tourist destination. This was our third family safari trip (others were South Africa, and Kenya), and Erick was as unique and special as the Serengeti itself! We really came to think of him as a good friend. Erick was flexible and relaxed, and totally dedicated to providing us with memorable experiences, and he was also lots of fun and exciting to be with. I can’t recommend Asanja Africa highly enough. From the initial experience putting the itinerary together with Ajay, to the experience at the camps and the ultimate wonderful game drives with the Erick, the best driver ever, Asanja strives for perfection. All transfers, arrangements, and logistics were clear and perfectly coordinated, and the entire experience was as memorable, magical, and life-changing as we could ever hope for. I couldn’t be more pleased with our choice of Asanja Africa, and I can’t recommend it highly enough!…
