We stayed in the private chalet which had a great view of the Indian Ocean, nice big balcony with chairs and a hammock. The bed was very big and the whole chalet experience was something we recommend. The restaurant at Kipepeo has a wide range of foods, drinks and cocktails. The beach is mostly clean and has beach chairs. :) When walking down the beach both ways it seemed like Kipepeo is the most lively resort of the three there, and the only one that has an actual lovely access to the beach.

We liked that locals actually hang out around the beach as well so you’re not completely secluded. About a kilometer down the beach you can access the main road which has a miniature grocery store, some stalls selling fruit etc. Although you can order a tuktuk (pao), Uber or a scooter to bring you to the town, the location is what was the biggest disappointment for us. The main road close to the resort is quite quiet so it takes a while with taxi to get somewhere where there’s street food, restaurants, markets etc.

We felt safe there at all times. They also offer a chance to keep your valuables at the reception but for that you need a little padlock — we didn’t know to bring one and didn’t want to buy one from them so never used it. There was quite a couple of moments where we felt like they were trying to make money off of littlest things, but I guess you get used to it and it turned out to not be a big problem for us. :D whenever going to the city, the staff was very eager to tell us that we need to be safe, keep an eye on our belongings and maybe use a taxi instead of walking. After taking a trip to the city by ourselves as well as to the inland, we realized that the hotel staff had caused us some unneeded and unreasonable anxiety. I’m sure there have been some bad incidents, but we felt safe while walking around and this way got to meet and talk to the locals as well. :)

Kipepeo will arrange transport to/from the airport so that’s convenient. Keep in mind though that compared to Uber, the price is almost tripled. We used Uber a lot to get to Dar es Salaam and back, and the longest we had to wait was like 17 minutes. If you’re going to the city and don’t want to take the ferry though, make sure to tell the driver. :)

All in all we enjoyed our stay in Kipepeo Beach Village!

Friends and I came here twice, once for a day trip to enjoy the beach, the second time to spend a few days relaxing. This is a very nice, but moderately priced resort, They have a variety of rooms from private chalets to beach bandas. Pretty nice place to bring the family, friends, or even honeymoon. The food at the bar is pretty good, fresh seafood was always on my mind at meal time. Plenty of choices for beverages, from water to high octane drinks. The people are very nice and courteous and it is a very enjoyable place to kick back and relax. The beach is a little trashy, but they seem to pick things up after the weekend.

I've been coming to Kipepeo for a day at the beach. You can pay 5000 to enter and you get a ticket that entitles you to a soda. Mot a bad deal for a day looking out over beautiful water. But the seating is very basic and not too comfortable. Plastic tables and chairs a little bit back and wooden recliners in the front. Waiters take your order and sometimes they bring it to you and sometimes they tell you that you have to pick it up yourself. Odd service. I have not enjoyed the food the last couple of times I've been there-poorly seasoned and cooked and it's been cold but once I had breakfast that I enjoyed. But having a swimmable beach is awesome. We were able to buy a used bathing suit on the road coming in. There are lots of vendors directly on the beach that want to sell you coconuts, wraps, chips, sunglasses, etc. but you're warned not to buy from them. It can get a little annoying when you're trying to relax. Today I noticed people taking a dhow over to Sinda Island-just across the water- with all stuff to make make a good party. Will have to try that excursion in the future.

This was a great place to stay outside Dar es Salaam if you like peace. Extremely nice and helpful staff, they went out of their way to help. I needed some aspirin and they rang a shop to check they had it and then organized a boy to pick it up for me before the shop closed. We had a nice hut and the beach was lovely so long as you found a non seaweedy part. The food was fine.

Wi-Fi was down most of the time, The fan couldn’t blow enough to cool you down at night, there was no room for luggage in your hut.
Be prepared to accept extra charges on a lot of basic things, that event the cheapest hotels provide for free.
The food at the premise was alright.

This was my second time staying here, first time with my family and a group of 10. And the second time with Bae..hence why I went back for the second time cause the first time was amazing 😻.
We stayed in the Charlet which you have to walk to through a mini forest 🌳 passing monkeys 🙊 each Charlet has a balcony that looks out to the beach or the wild, it’s a beautiful and peaceful experience. There was loud music coming from a bar miles away that played music all day and when we came back in the evening the music was still on and went on until 6-7am but I actually enjoyed it cause the DJ was good to be fair and music was poppin plus I like noise while asleep so that’s me I guess.
The Charlets are really romantic actually. For breakfast, you get a slip and you tick what you want, it’s very very basic but it was delicious and really filled us up, I loved the coffee section 😔. Staff are super sweet and friendly and it was nice they recognised me the second time so I felt special.
The beach is quiet but some of my white friends did get hassled a bit on the beach ( pictures, people selling stuff, people staring right at them) so we had to go back to the hotel area. We didn’t eat at the hotel cause we loved going out to the town and eating local food and mingling with the locals. Friendly people and good buzz outside.
I will always come back for a little getaway

There was a bar next to my room playing loud music. The staff didn't care, refused to let me use another room, and after waiting until the early hours I ended up giving up and sleeping on the beach (which they say is not safe to walk along even in the day...). No apology or attempt to remedy.
Also my birkenstocks were taken from my locked room. Presumably by a staff member.

Back here for the first time in two and a half years, due to Covid. All the same friendly faces behind the bar and on reception, surely this alone is testament to a brilliantly run establishment?
I received such a warm welcome and felt like I was coming home!
I always stay in a chalet which are not luxurious but clean and spacious. The location is beautiful and quiet and the beach is fabulous.
The food is great, I highly recommend a burger!
Thank you Siita, on reception, for helping me liaise with a colleague I was meeting who was running very late, nothing was too much trouble.
When I am in Tanzania, this will always be my first choice for a weekend break.

I first visited here six months ago and was happy to return again. Staff and management are welcoming, attentive and efficient. Food is delicious (I love the fruit at breakfast). Even at low tide you can still swim in deep water. The sunbeds, although hard, are plentiful as is shade. Rooms simple yet clean, plenty of hot water and relaxing hammock. Last time there was loud music at night from a neighbouring bar. This time it was only one night.

How long would it take to get to the airport?

Due to the bridge from Kigamboni to the mainland it'll probably not take you longer than 30-40min depending on traffic

It is worth staying in the rooms at the back - slightly more expensive but fully private - rooms are raised to tree height with great balconies

Hi Theodora, I am not 100% sure but I cannot see why not? try giving them a call or drop them an email. Sita or Dale should be able to answer your question

Hi there, I am aware that this is an old thread, but thought I would answer it anyway as someone else may have the same question/request. I do not think Kipepeo are selling the Ferry tickets for the requested ferry. Azam ferries are the company you are after and as far as I know the price for a return trip from Day - Zanzibar is $70pp. The journey takes approximately 2h. Azam ferries are based on the Dar side of the harbour (not the Kigamboni side) and you can also order them in advance via their homepage.. Google is your best friend. Hope this is of help to someone Morts
