I know that place since 19 y ears and I still go back there. It has a unique quiet atmosphere. On weekends there is some noise from neighbouring places. It is a bit over-priced but still a nice place south of Dar. On the way to and fro K you might experience a lot of traffic jams
This is my 4th stay . The place is great, the beach and surroundings are ideal for a few days away. The staff are friendly and helpful and every time I come here its immediately relaxing. Great place.
Back here for the first time in two and a half years, due to Covid. All the same friendly faces behind the bar and on reception, surely this alone is testament to a brilliantly run establishment? I received such a warm welcome and felt like I was coming home! I always stay in a chalet which are not luxurious but clean and spacious. The location is beautiful and quiet and the beach is fabulous. The food is great, I highly recommend a burger! Thank you Siita, on reception, for helping me liaise with a colleague I was meeting who was running very late, nothing was too much trouble. When I am in Tanzania, this will always be my first choice for a weekend break.
We have stayed at Kipepeo many times and appreciate the environment, pleasant staff an very good food. The beach is beautiful and feels very safe. We stayed in one of the chalets, it is a little walk through the bush to the chalets. Monkeys are around so it not recommended to leave the doors open.
This is a good old-style European-run seaside lodge, very tranquil, safe and peaceful and providing authentic experience. The venue is quite worn and very simple, but in a good European way. The nature is beautiful. The seaside cabins may seem to be too simple, since they are basically just two beds under a grass roof, with a communal toilet and shower. However everything is as clean as it can be cleansed under the circumstances. The food is great, the staff is friendly, honest, helpful and English speaking. However the Internet is a problem with the WiFi network unstable, lagging, generally very slow, at times getting up and down, so get prepared that you will never forget the username and password they will have provided you, since you will have to type them for too many times. Of course if you have to use the internet. Any local SIM card with an Internet plan will provide way better speed and excellent stability. As well there is a local disco in the vicinity which eventually will ruin the business of this and all the other hotels around the place, unless they solve the problem. It starts around 1-2 am and runs neurotic local disco rhythms very loudly until 6-7 am, no jokes, the guys are really dedicated to music and having fun. At times local talents even sing something reminding of karaoke. The employment situation in the country allows it to run nightly starting Wednesday and until the weekend inclusive. However it is safe to come on Monday and Tuesday. This applies to accommodation in the villas, since at the seaside cabins it is not heard.…
The location was right on the beach. Wessel, the manager was very friendly. The food was excellent and reasonably priced and there was a good selection of beverages. The beds were very comfortable. Just be aware that there are lots of mosquitos and no fridge in the bungalows.
I've been coming to Kipepeo for a day at the beach. You can pay 5000 to enter and you get a ticket that entitles you to a soda. Mot a bad deal for a day looking out over beautiful water. But the seating is very basic and not too comfortable. Plastic tables and chairs a little bit back and wooden recliners in the front. Waiters take your order and sometimes they bring it to you and sometimes they tell you that you have to pick it up yourself. Odd service. I have not enjoyed the food the last couple of times I've been there-poorly seasoned and cooked and it's been cold but once I had breakfast that I enjoyed. But having a swimmable beach is awesome. We were able to buy a used bathing suit on the road coming in. There are lots of vendors directly on the beach that want to sell you coconuts, wraps, chips, sunglasses, etc. but you're warned not to buy from them. It can get a little annoying when you're trying to relax. Today I noticed people taking a dhow over to Sinda Island-just across the water- with all stuff to make make a good party. Will have to try that excursion in the future.…
I loved the Location & the food. Definitely would do a return trip. The cocktails were amazing, the staff super nice and very helpful. I had cottage number 3 and my view in the morning..... I would get used to it. Oh... only feedback would be to increase the number of Bathrooms & Toilets.
I stayed in one of the elevated chalets which was great, nicely decorated, nice sleeping climate. They whole compound of the beach village is spacious, nice beach, good variety of food and drinks, very friendly and helpful staff. I would choose Kippen again, Thank you very much for everything!
Hotel accommodation is simple, but enough. negative: Booked sea view was not provided. No wind therefore (second line behind bushes, many mosquitos. Recommeded: Insist on seaview. Beach is dirty, debris. Food ok, but service is poor: Food comes cold. Prices of bar are high (of cause). Negative: Prices are shown in Schilling, but payment by card requested in USD. Advice: Come with a lot of Schillings! Management is friendly. s. d
