Mellow but atmospheric place to hang out for a few days in or near Dar for a few days. Really good value, at the time of my visit. Right on the beach. Excellent food. Good coffee, too! About 30 minutes drive to places in central Dar es Salaam.
I stayed here before and after a safari, and found it a fabulous option. The hotel arranged my taxi, and to store my luggage while I was away. It takes about 45 minutes from the airport but once here, you are in an oasis of calm with tropical gardens, the sea breeze and a lovely pool to cool off in. The restaurant is right on the beach, laud back, and the food is simple but good. The rooms are comfortable, simple and very clean. The staff are kind and helpful, as I found wherever I went in Tanzania. All in all, I think it is a really great stop over and I would certainly stay here again if I were coming to Tanzania.
A beautiful hotel in a great location and with great food. The hotel, restaurant and restaurant have a lot of interesting, quirky detail which makes it stand out from other hotels in Dar es Salaam. Beautiful gardens too. The rooms are very comfortable and have everything you'd expect of a modern hotel. The restaurant has great views out across the bay. They serve a great range of tasty dishes. Staff are all friendly and super helpful
Beautiful gardens and views of the sea! It's far from the airport, so not a great option if you're just in town for a night, but whenever I'm in Dar for more than the night, this is where I stay. There's a little restaurant next door with good Negroni's and tapas.
We spent 9 days here, over New Year 2021-22. Thus hotel has kind staff, good rooms but plagued by long waiting for drinks or food. So much so I had put a 1 / 5 but changed it as the reception staff were very helpful. We arranged trips both to the islands and to another resort which had a beach, all through reception. This resort has no beach. It's only views of the ocean. Unfortunately it was often full of scrap, plastic bottles and other such rubbish. That's why we took daily trips to White Sands and paid an entry fee each day. Any review saying you can be on the beach is really stretching the truth. The island trips did come with 15 -20$ per person entry fee on top of the trip cost. The pool is small and simple, with typical African pool beds. Too much chemicals caused many of our white outfits to discolour, so watch out for that. Food, when it did arrive, was very good. I recommend you make your order 3-4 hours before dinner, otherwise you will receive food dish by dish, even if you ordered the same food!! The lack of any Service skills was obvious but we enjoyed ourselves even so! We had half board, note that water and 1 round of soft drinks is included. The cashier got this wrong nearly all dinners, so again we needed to often wait 45mins just to sign for the evening meal. Our agent helped us with discounts due to these issues but we were lucky. The gardens are beautifully kept and the relaxing are is lovely and breeze from the ocean is constant. Shame again that smokers are allowed to be in this area. Very relaxing hotel, just be aware of the lack of beach and food orders.…
The Mediterraneo is a place I'm definitely going to stay again when in Dar es Salaam. The joyful reception by Mwana was one of its kind and the 3 days I stayed there, were exactly like I wished them to be. I spend a whole day at the beautiful pool, made trips, organized by the hotel, to Bongoyo Island and had many lovely hours in the lounge and the Restaurant with my friends. This is just a perfect Happy Place. Thank you.
Rooms was satisfactory. Key cards kept malfunctioning. Very poor WiFi all around. No WiFi in rooms. So if you are trying to do any business or conference calls you will have to sit in the reception which is very noisy. Mosquitoes is all over
We stayed at the Mediterraneo Hotel upon our arrival in to Tanzania and upon our departure. The hotel has excellent grounds, good for birdwatching, good food, and very comfortable rooms. It's location by the ocean is very inviting, appealing, and relaxing. Our stay was made even better by the attention of the front desk staff. Mwana and Asia took EXCELLENT care of our every needs with a smile, patience, and good cheer. Their competence and attention to detail and manner with dealing with us made our stay at the hotel memorable. They listened to us, were understanding, and very caring. Thank-you, Asia and Mwana for all that you did for us. We really appreciated it!!!! P.S. The wifi worked. The Maasai attendant was very helpful an dtook care of my requests promptly and thoroughly.…
Imagine sipping cocktails right at the Ocean front and arriving through beautiful and lush gardens to get there… This is a romantic getaway for dinner, drinks and a tropical room, away from the craziness of downtown Dar. Hint: Ask for a reclining lounge style chair overlooking the sea. Can’t wait to return…
Nice hotel on the beach. The pool is very clean. The food is good. Friendly staff, especially Asia on the reception. Boots trips to two islands are available. Stay there and have a relaxed time. We enjoyed our stay there. Warm greetings from Germany Achim and Anken
