Detailed Reviews
Very helpful and professional staff at all levels. Our Std room was large and quite comfortable. Shower over a bath with a shower curtain though. The room air con struggles with the Dec heat and humidity and the room thermostat settings made no difference to dropping the 24 C room temp.
The evening buffet dinner, breakfast and lunch were all exceptional.
We came back to this hotel for lunch after being away for 3 nights on safari and then had to wait for some time before we could board our Noble Caledonia (NC) ship. Getting access to hotel Wi-Fi just for emails for this short time was too difficult initially for hotel management until the Takims Holidays rep made it happen. After the money spent by NC for 16 of us to stay overnight at the hotel prior to our Selous Safari and the 3 meals above; it was petty / inflexible of the hotel staff to initially block this request. This with the air con issues is hence not a 5 stars review.

Very nice hotel and staff were really friendly and kind. Aidan welcomed us and then I found teddy on the floor who helped me a lot, Dorothya and Yeol from in room dining were totally amazing and food was tasty too and finally upon my checkout Rozina did a wonderful job. Location of the hotel is nice, food in the hotel and around the hotel is nice, rooms are very comfortable and they provide sanitizer in all the rooms in addition to the wipes which I found very peculiar because other hotels just provide 1 or 2 wipes. Rooms were clean however the social places have mosquitoes, so be cautious about that. Hotel is well maintained with service and safety oriented staff. Highly appreciate your thoughtfulness and hospitality. Hoping to come over for a longer stay to explore the city and safaris.

We stopped one night here after flying over from the UK and before the start of a safari trip.
Check-in was a little slow with our room not fully ready when we arrived late afternoon but they gave us a complimentary drink in the bar area until it was ready.
The hotel is comfortable and elegant with plenty of wood paneling. Our room was on the 6th floor and was quiet despite a business convention taking place.
Due to an early start the next day, we had a small breakfast in our room so cannot comment any further on quality of food provided in the restaurant.
If there was a hotel nearer the airport it would possibly be more convenient for a stopover. The drive from the airport to the hotel was rather slow and took about an hour due to traffic. However, in the morning it only took 15 minutes to drive back to the airport.

Fantastic ambience, spotless linen, towels and rooms. Variety of very tasty meals, extremely courteous and professional staff who looked happy and quite motivated. Special thanks to Chef Ali who made my weaning journey of my infant very easy miles away from home, and Celina for always being at our service and constantly checking if we were okay. House keeping did a wonderful job daily and the evening turn down was really special, giving one a peaceful night. Great leadership, teamwork and motivation by GM Edwin Chemisto. Will definitely be back SOON.

Stayed over for two nights on a business trip as flight crew.
From a slow and shambolic check in experience that took 30 minutes ( we were the only ones there), to a smelly room with a filthy bath and stained and dirty toilet, from chairs in the lobby with black oily stains from hair product, to a shower curtain reeking of bleach that failed to remove suspicious yellow stains, this hotel never failed to disappoint.
Linen was old and worn, ditto towels, beds were hard and uncomfortable and the air conditioner was musty.
Breakfast buffet was mediocre, but the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.
The property needs a complete revamp top to bottom, staff will shine with proper training- but until then avoid this hotel if at all possible.

Right in the heart of Dar es Salaam business centre, this hotel has appeal for both the business and pleasure traveller. Comfortable rooms, excellent restaurants, and lovely swimming pool in manicured laws and garden. The service from all staff is excellent, but particularly the desk clerks at reception who go out of their way to be of assistance, whether it be calling a taxi and giving directions to arranging a Covid test. The hotel has all the necessary Covid protocols in place.

We spent our final night in Tanzania at the Serena and were very happy with our choice. The staff could not have been more helpful (special thanks to Jonas for arranging our Covid rapid tests!) and made us feel very welcome.
The room (510) was a nice size with a lovely view over the golf course and the sea in the distance. It was a quiet room, very comfortable and immaculately clean. The bath room could do with some refurbishment and a walk-in shower rather than the rather outdated bath tub.
It gets a bit noisy there on Sundays for the weekly brunch, but once the life music is finished (at 3pm), the pool area is lovely and quiet.
We enjoyed our dinner at the Jahazi restaurant and the breakfast buffet had an amazing choice!
I had a lovely treatment at the Maisha SPA (thank you Juliette!) and we will be very happy to stay at the Serena again next time we are in Dar.

The Establishment is very clean, tight security, professional staff, great food with a variety of good wines, and very serene environment. By staying at Serena one can easily access the Golf Club and many bank ATMs which are just a few meters away. The General Manager, Edwin is always around the property and pays attention to all the Guests' needs.

yes buffet is every day. A good mix of local, Western and Indian food.
The course is run independent of the hotel although hotel guests have access to the course and enjoy discounted rates on green fees. The value you get as a resident in the hotel is access to a private member's club and facilities such as the course as well as some discounts on the green fees. The hotel can also help you with the booking.
The hotel is very flexible but you put your request early and don't check in at 3 am at least 5 am they will request to have your breakfast following day or depends on your booking plan . No doubt Serena dar Es salaam is the best and has been my favorite choice . I cannot assure you that they will consider your request but usually if rooms are available they do consider it .
Regarding the airport pick up I think they charge 50$ best advice take a uber in dar very cheap indeed I am not sure if uber service is available at airport . You will experience the African Swahili heritage with there new architecture work and there staff is very courteous .
