The Coral Beach Hotel in Dar Es Salaam garners praise for its immaculate cleanliness and spacious rooms that offer modern amenities and breathtaking ocean views, which many travelers find to be a highlight. While some guests deem the oceanfront experience worth the cost, others feel the pricing may not always reflect the value received. The hotel's atmosphere is generally appreciated for its live music and tasteful decor, although for a few, the volume can impinge on the serenity. Amenities like diverse dining options and beach access are well-regarded, as is the hotel's desirable seaside location. Service is acknowledged as friendly and professional, yet occasionally marred by slow responses or organizational mishaps.

We stayed at Coral beach hotel whilst visiting Dar Es Salaam, the hotel is ideally located near the Slipway complex which has lots of shops and restaurants to visit while in Dar.

The food at the Coral beach hotel restaurant was excellent and I would highly recommend it. The service was made even more special with the help of our waiter Goodluck who was so helpful and attentive.

If you are planning a trip to Dar Es Salaam I would definitely recommend this hotel. The rooms were large and modern with a fresh feel. Towels were changed daily if required and the room was also cleaned and made up each day.

The Hotel staff are very hospitable; the cuisine is scrumptious and the hygiene standards are high.

The air conditioner is very cool and aids one to cool down in the heat

I recommend this hotel as one of Tanzania's rest havens and urge tourists to be spoit by the magnificence of the place.

We stayed at Coral Beach Dar from 12th to 16th July and again from 22nd to 25th July. We were meant to stay at another hotel in the neighborhood for the latter visit but be cause of extraordinary personal service and comfort of rooms with the sea views, we cancelled the other place and came back to Coral Beach. Elizabeth in Reservations and Back office was most helpful with all our needs and ensure a relaxing stay. Richard the Managing Director of the hotel personally took interest in the strange disappearance of a bottle of whisky from one of our rooms reportedly him and surprised us with a replacement with a higher value bottle on the last day! I must not forget Khadija, Carlos, Happy and Alphonce whose smiling service and warmth beyond the call of duty daily at breakfast was touching and unforgettable. We loved everything about this place, the comforts, food, service and the views from our balconies. I would only make one suggestion. There is direct access to the private beach you boast. It is very hazardous to walk to it on a narrow walkway by the outside wall so close to the water which is inaccessible anyway during high tide! Please do something about that. Asante Sana and Kwaheri!

From start to finish, our time at the Coral Beach was impeccable. We stayed for four nights at the start of my husband's 3-week Tanzania birthday trip. We were a group of 18, including a few small children, and the hotel was very well-suited for all the members of our traveling party. We booked ocean-facing suites, which had incredible views (totally worth the extra $$). Extra props to Elizabeth the reservations manager for dealing with our large party seamlessly! She truly went above and beyond--even calling Ethiopian Airlines tirelessly for three days after they lost my luggage. 5/5 stars! Whether you're traveling for business, pleasure, or a special event, Coral Beach is a great choice!!

The staff were helpful, responsive, and lovely. The room was always clean, decorated well, everything worked including during power cuts (AC, water pressure/temp), the food was good, and the event spaces were well set up for meetings with troubleshooting support available. Even the gym was good!
The pool is awkwardly positioned in front of meeting spaces that get rented out, so it is not a place that feels appropriate or comfortable to enjoy the pool without feeling exposed to people who are passing by for work (especially for women), so keep that in mind.

My friends and I were watching a World Cup match between the Morocco and Portugal at Coral Beach. Large screens were set up on the outdoor patio in two locations. It was well staffed and staff was very enthusiastic to provide beverages, hookah, and food. We were able to hear the live feed of the game including the football commentators. Many establishments forgo the audio from the game and instead play music which for fans makes it more difficult to follow the game.

A small, but an extremely important thing, especially in outdoor settings, is the location of restroom facilities, especially in hot weather. Restaurants that have dirty bathrooms and missing essentials take away from the customer experience.

The lobby guest bathrooms are air-conditioned and extremely clean!!! There was actually a light pleasant fragrance. The soap dispensers were functioning. Thus giving a great experience for something that we all have to do.

I stayed for two nights. My room was large. Exceptionally clean!!! A bog shout out to the hotel cleaning staff! One small concern, the air-conditioning could be stronger to deal with the Tanzanian heat.

I also must give praise to the hotel reception staff for their professionalism, smiles, and overall helpfulness. One person I remember, specifically is Maureen and Elizabeth.

Our overall experience at the hotel was very, very positive. From arrival at reception, we were made very welcome and at home. The rooms are spacious, and many are undergoing renovation. We originally booked two nights, and ended up staying for 6! As such we actually stayed in one room that had already been renovated and another that had not. The upgrade is really good. One tiny little thing that needs attention in the bathrooms, the soap dispensers need to be changed, they are not aesthetically pleasing and they are not easy to use. The breakfast menu had a good selection of hot/cold food and very good coffee. The lunch/dinner menu is really good. Not too extensive. We really loved the tapas selection and the butter chicken curry was so good. The restaurant management was incredibly attentive and responsive to our needs, and the staff, in turn, responded quickly. The bar staff are so positive and well versed in preparing cocktails, tea, or any refreshments ordered, and know when to offer a top-up! All the hotel staff are well trained in customer service. The managers are open to suggestions and really want the hotel to offer the best service possible. This was our experience, and we will definitely return. Thank you Coral Beach.

We were very disappointed in this hotel. Firstly, it is very expensive. It cost 175.50 per night so expectations were high. We arrived in the evening of a hot night and discovered that not one of the public areas in the hotel had aircon. Not one. Our room did have good aircon and for this we were grateful. We were disappointed at the lack of balcony but some rooms do have them.
Breakfast was average and the pool pretty small. The beach area is nice.
On the last day we asked if we could pay to stay in the room. (day rate) They offered us half the room rate (so around 90 USD to stay until 6pm) but we could not keep the same room and we had to move, so I asked for a room in a lower category stating it was because the hotel had no aircon in public areas so we needed a room to keep cool. So after haggling 70 USD to move rooms for 5 hours, they gave us a room where the aircon didn't work. When we called them it turned out they knew about the problem (So why give us that room? No inititative-taking among the staff at all!) They then gave us another room where the ceiling was leaking, I think their very worst room.

At the end we asked to change USD into local currency and they said they didn't keep local currency (Weird.) Only USD. I said I had seen guests pay restaurant staff in local currency and they said that if I wanted I could myself, go to the restaurant and ask random waiters if they would consider changing currency (they did not offer to solve this problem themselves for their treasured guest, even though the taxi was there to go to the airport and I was clearly stressed.) So off I went to make enquiries. After I had explained myself 5 times to the head waiter and said reception had sent me, he went to reception to ask them and disappeared with my 5 dollars. I found him at reception later saying he could't change it for local. There were, at this point, about 7 people working behind reception, all bored and listless at the same time explaining that they couldn't give out local currency. I even expressly said they could rip us off, I just wanted a bit to tip the driver, but they would not.

To summarise, the staff are not initiative- taking, do not care about customers and are, dare I stay it, not very bright. Avoid this hotel which is in the middle of nowhere, expensive, hot and with staff who don't care.

Restaurant staff seemed ok.

We are still hungry after Coral Beach’s utterly shambolic attempt to cook something vaguely resembling food last night.
Waiters whom appeared to be somewhat sedated eventually took our order and sluggishly brought beers, one by one. Finally we achieved ordering a bottle of wine, which took another 10 minutes to open after much confusion over the whereabouts of the corkscrew.
1 and a half hours and several Warm rosés later, our food arrived. Ceviche on a stale baguette cooked in the year 1812 was followed by cold chips, cold ribs, cold fish, and cold Mash. Everybody’s food was cold. Astonishing for such a hot country. It must have been left on the counter for the full 1 and a Half hours we were waiting for it? Appalled & half starved we picked away at the inedible offerings as it was nearing midnight, offended at the fact someone offered to put our food in the microwave to solve the insurmountable problem.
Evans, who feebly approached to deal with our complaint, never once apologized for the catastrophic mistakes or even admitted to the simple fact that our food came at an unsatisfactory level for ‘restaurant standards’. The most hideously awkward discussion over the bill then occurred, as to be asked to pay, for late, cold food, is quite frankly delusive. A mere 20% was finally agreed for our misfortune. I wouldn't cross the road to go back there even if I was dying of hunger, nor will any of us. I sincerely hope Evans grows some balls and with urgent appeal suggest the entire staff team need to wake up or work at an ice cream parlor where at least it’s acceptable to serve cold food.

Over the last several years (less the covid period) I have stayed here a number times and protracted visits and as a business traveller the I think its maybe time to use somewhere else.
I (we) ended up just behind the reception which is being renovated, none of which was mentioned and the price being much higher than the last visit didn't sit too well with me.
We ate at the bar twice but tended to use other venues the cost of meals and drinks being prohibitive in comparison to other bars and restaurants within striking distance all of which is a shame when you consider the plus points, the staff are great as is the location and is fair.
Reception tried to charge us for prepaid rooms as well as meals and drinks.
Not sure if I'd return to be fair.
