I was set off by the old rooms/hotel building, but learned to love the place. My room was large and looked out to the street. I spent time on the beach and in that huge thatched roof building there. Food was decent, they need to have a place to refill water bottles and eliminate the plastic bottles! Pool looked nice but I didn't take time to use it. Definitely book online as rates are really high for walk-ins. And this is far from both the airport and ferry. That white sand, though!
We were there for 6 nights & will definitely be returning! If you appreciate: friendly professional staff, lovely clean comfortable surroundings, good sized rooms, a good meal, birds, the ocean, music, and a family friendly environment at a great price...then go to this hotel. The 24 hour outdoor restaurant and bar were very nice with an excellent staff. We were there for Eid & there was lots of entertainment including a very good live band. Every Sunday there is a show - the Sunday that we were there they had a show featuring traditional dancers; a fire eater; and a fearsome show with what looked like a HUGE python! (I had to get a double whiskey after that!) To my partner and I the place is more like a resort than a hotel. Anytime I needed anything - they came promptly. For example my cell phone decided to not work properly - the hotel's IT guy was able to get it up and running in no time! They did an excellent job on my laundry at minimal cost. I would have given this hotel 5 stars but there's room for improvement. This not a new hotel and as such my room could have used a few newer touches, such as new towels, newer furniture, a newer quieter AC unit, and a shower curtain to surround the whirlpool bathtub. The lovely balcony that overlooked the Indian Ocean would have been better with a couple of chairs and perhaps a small table. It would have be good to have beach towels. I'm a traveler and have stayed many hotels in many countries, this was the first establisment in my experience, where the hotel's manager greeted the guests individually and invited their input. This was a nice touch.…
We went here for the day as we were staying with family in Dar es Salaam. We had to pay an entrance fee bit were not told it did not include use of the pool which was annoying. Perfect set up for kids as there was the pool, playgound on the beaxh and music and entertainment throughout the day aimed at the children. We had food which was nice and there was the option of a buffet. They were refurbishing the pier and the beach ny the hotel was dirty and had a lot of debris which was a shame. Overall great with kids but definately not the best hotel on this stretch of beach.
How unfortunate that a wonderful family event had to be spoiled by hotel management. The party had been planned for months to celebrate the meeting of the Tanzanian and American relatives . At the end of the event when we went to take care of the bill the management reneged on the price and said that they had chosen (not asked) to upgrade our meal and then proceeded to charge much more than promised. Very unethical people -do not stay there or hold events at this location there are plenty of other lovely places .
The rooms were ok but few things in bathroom were missing and looked as some repair was needed. But beds were nice and good view over the ocean from most of the rooms. Pool ok but beach needed some cleaning. Food and service were OK. Lobby manager very service minded as staff in general. A price worthy hotel.
