Like a small jewel in the Selous vicinity, near Mloka village; this lodge offers a breathtaking view of the Rufiji River which runs just few meters away from the Lodge’s edge. Selous Mapumziko Lodge has 7 well finished Mud-Bandas (typical village mud houses) and a wide campsite with a kitchen, toilet facilities, & camping fire place where you can enjoy some stories in the evening as you enjoy your favorite local beer or wine. Each Banda has a very specious room area with a bathroom with flush toilet and running water. The roof is made of local grass allowing the Banda interior to have a cool temperature all day and night long. The drive from Dar es Salaam to Selous Mapumziko Lodge takes about 5 to 6 hours covering 230 kms. (150 km on tarmac and 80 km on rough but well maintained road). It takes ONLY less than ½ an hour from the lodge to Mtemere Southward Gate.

What a stunning place to stay, traditional huts with western comforts. We did a sunset boat trip, which was just fantastic. Food was delicious for our whole stay. Nothing was to much trouble for the staff. Filbert and his team are just so lovely. Then a short trip (10 mins) to Selious game reserve, what a fantastic day, seeing so much wild life all in its natural surroundings. Rama our driver has so much knowledge about the wild life and the plant life. He answered all our questions and was a joy to spend time with,he is a real asset to the team. It was the trip of a lifetime so many fantastic memories. Thank you Filbert and your team

I visited with a few friends and we stayed for 2 nights. We started with a river safari thinking we’d only see hippo and crocs, but the number of brightly coloured birds astounded us. Our guide was knowledgeable and patient and we were treated to a lovely sunset. The following day we went on a 9 hour safari round the game reserve. We saw it all (aside from leopards which only come out in the rain, so that was a good thing!). As a finale about an hour before we were due to leave our guide spotted elusive elephants which no one had seen all day. He turned the vehicle on a sixpence and we went off on hot pursuit. We we weren’t disappointed and saw six of them - eating and frolicking in the lake. We were also “treated” to a tantrum by one of the bulls who wasn’t very happy with us, but our excellent guide for the day, Rama, managed us out of what we thought was a tight spot. The food is excellent, especially the pumpkin soup, and staff really attentive. Rooms are fantastic and really give you a taste of the jungle. There are hot water and European loos too! The photo is the view from breakfast - baboon just walked by!

A group of 9 friends came here and had the most incredible stay. Filbert and his staff really looked after us and the accommodation were quirky high end mud huts with all that you need. The boat safari was a dream.... Watching the sunset and Hippos wallowing in the river. Then the day trip safari unbelievable... We saw... Crocodiles Zebra Lions Impala Giraffes Snakes Monkies Hippos So many lovely African animals And the most amazing elephants I've ever seen were right by our truck by the waters edge. Truly incredible and worth every penny.

We stayed for 5 nights at the lodge with my family (we as adults and 2 children of 10 and 11 years old) . We stayed in a tented lodge with great view on the river. During the night we could hear the animals passing by. During day-time we have had great game drives, boat-safari and a bush-walk. We have seen a lot of animals and during the bush-walk 9 elephants passed nearby ! The service at the lodge was great, the tent was well equipped with shower, toilet etc. The food was great, the cook suprised us every evening with a nice menu
