A lovingly restored riad, dating from the 14th century, La Maison Blanche is tucked away in the winding streets of the old Kasbah, the spectacularly-located historic fortress high above the Moroccan port city of Tangiers. The decoration of this exquisite small hotel was carried out by renowned French interior designer Regis Milcent, with each of the nine comfortable rooms offering its own elegant, colour-led character, from cool green, to crisp white, to rich red. Handmade ceramic tiles decorate the floors, in traditional Moroccan style. Enjoy a lavish Moroccan breakfast, admire the stunning views across the city to the sea from the roof terrace, soak up the scents of fresh flowers, and explore this fascinating city where Europe and Africa meet in a glorious jumble of exotic colour. Your hosts, Pilar and Aziz, will make you feel at home and looked after from the moment you walk in the door, and are always ready to offer suggestions and advice to help you get the most out of your stay in Tangiers.

Detailed Reviews
We loved our stay at La Maison Blanche, a meticulously restored 14th century riad. The 9 elegant rooms of this boutique hotel were decorated in the traditional Moroccan style and were super clean. There was a roof top terrace that provided magical views of both the town and the sea. As the location of the riad is on the edge of the old Kasbah, we were able to enjoy walking around town ourselves to experience the hustle and bustle of daily life. Aziz, our host, made our stay especially memorable. He was always available and was a wealth of knowledge. He knew everyone and everything and made recommendations for us that went beyond the average tourist experience. Upon our request, he arranged a very good tour guide, Ali, from Ali Tangier Tours who was fluent in English and took us around by car and foot. On the day we were leaving Tangier, it was very early and Aziz took us to the ferry himself to make sure that we made our connection. All in all, a very personalized experience at La Maison Blanche, thanks to Aziz - one that I would highly recommend.

Wow! This riad was lovingly remodeled from the entrance all the way up to the breakfast terrace with a panoramic view of Tangier. We stayed in the Regis Milcent room, named after the French interior designer. It has a red boudoir vibe, with a clean, large zellige tiled bathtub (charming toiletries and thick towels included), that I soaked in for an hour. The window that opened to a small alley looked like it was transferred from the Sultan's palace. That's the kind of little touches this riad cared enough to include. Aziz, the warm, well-traveled owner, upgraded us because the Rick Steves room I wanted was no longer available. I found this riad in Rick Steves' Guide to Spain (with a day trip to Tangier) so I felt confident that it would be as he reviewed it. It was the best riad we stayed at in our 17 days in Morocco. This is a "hotel" to enjoy on its own, not just to return to after a long day of sightseeing, so stay at least two days! The price is quite reasonable for the quality experience. Served on white tablecloth and fine China, the typical Moroccan breakfast was transformed to something special amidst the beautiful terrace. The place felt like Aziz's own home that we were invited to. It is located in the Kasbah and walking distance to the Grand Socco (of Bourne Ultimatum fame). If Morocco is in my future, I know I will return to Tangier and La Maison Blanche. Just google it to see the different rooms/prices on their website. Thank you, Aziz and Mohamed, for a lovely stay.

+1
La Maison Blanche is a full-service Riad. The owner and host Aziz goes above, and beyond to make sure his guest are happy. He made sure there was a driver at the port to meet us and take us to the Riyadh. The Riyadh is located within the old city, where vehicles are not allowed. Aziz arranged for somebody to meet us, outside the gates of the old city and carry our luggage into the Riyadh and up to the room. The Riad is beautiful with a courtyard and a fountain that greet you upon entry. Our room was on the top floor which is the rooftop terrace. Morning Breakfast and evening mint tea and cookies are served on the terrace by a very kind lady. We took the grand tour with Aziz. This includes taking us to Hercules cave, a camel ride, showing us the beaches on the Atlantic, the surrounding areas of Tangiers as well as a walk through the markets of the old city. But, please note The tour does not include the cost of entry for Hercules cave nor the price of riding a camel. Also, few places in Tangiers takes credit cards, so bring lots of euros with you as that seems to be the preferred method of payment throughout Tangiers. Aziz is well known throughout the city. He showed us places that few people are allowed. Aziz is very informative about his city. He loves Tangiers and it shows in his tours. Tangiers is a beautiful city both the old part, the new part, the countryside and the beaches on the Atlantic Ocean. I highly recommend this Riad. Aziz will make sure you’re not disappointed.

We spent two nights in the Regis Millicent room and loved it. Each room in this Riad are unique and the staff make you feel like you are very welcome. When we arrived we were given the key to our room and our luggage transported to our second story room. This was before check in. A little while later I went down to the office and was given the check-in form and completed the check in. They asked us to come to the roof top terrace for tea. The view is tremendous and the tea is quite good. Its a green tea and my wife who doesn't drink tea liked it. This is also where you get breakfast each morning. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. Breakfast each day was a choice of Moroccan crepes, a square bread, and croissants. Tea and or coffee was available. Eggs were also an option. The breads are served with a local goat cheese and several jams. These were very tasty and helped us feel like we were in Morocco and not just another breakfast place. Morocco is a cash based society and when I asked if they took cards I was informed they did not. Since this meant I would need to visit an ATM I asked about the nearest one. The owner had a young man escort me to the machine and then brought me back to the Riad. This is just another example of the special care we received while staying here. These were very nice people and made us feel special. I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in Tangier. Very highly recommended!

We arrived at this beautiful boutique hotel on Thursday, March 12th on the ferry from Spain. We spent our first day touring with a fantastic guide the hotel owner, Aziz set up for us. By the second day of our stay we learned that Morocco had closed the border with Spain because of Covid 19. We began looking for flights out of Morocco through Paris, Gibraltar, Portugal etc. We had no luck. As soon we made reservations we would receive an email that it had been cancelled. At this point we became very concerned. Aziz came to the rescue! He went to the airport in Tangier himself to assess the situation. He spoke with someone who suggested that we try Air Arab. Fortunately the airline was flying to London Sunday morning. Aziz called the airline himself when we experienced trouble booking the tickets online. (We had no idea this airline existed as it didn't show up on any of the travel sites.) Aziz drove us to the airport the next morning and stayed with us until we had our tickets. I am convinced that if it were not for this incredible man going to such great lengths for us, we would still be in Morocco experiencing the nightmare that so many people are dealing with at the moment. This is a beautiful hotel and is impeccably run. We would recommend it to anyone. And we will always be grateful to its owner, Aziz.

Our stay at Riad Maison La Blanche was simply exceptional! The warm and welcoming host made us feel at home, attentive to each guest's needs. The riad itself is beautifully decorated, blending traditional Moroccan charm with elegant Western touches. The rooms and common areas were spotless, adding to the relaxing and serene atmosphere.
The location was ideal—right in the heart of the Kasbah, yet surprisingly peaceful, offering a true oasis of calm amidst the vibrant surroundings. Everything we wanted to explore was within walking distance, making it easy to experience the best of Tanger.
Highly recommended!

Our family spent one night at La Maison Blanche and our only regret is that we didn’t program more time in Tangier so we could enjoy the hotel for longer. Aziz has created a beautiful space - handpainted ceilings, gorgeous fabric wall coverings, and beautiful linens. The rooms are all different and all lovely. We had a small problem with one of our two rooms and the team moved us quickly to another room. They also arranged a very early (full) breakfast to accommodate our early departure. Their hospitality is unmatched. I would stay here again and again. Thank you, Aziz.

This hotel is beautiful. We stayed in the Ibn Batouta room located on the rooftop. The room and bathroom was large and beautifully decorated. We only stayed for one night, but after touring Tangier and staying at this hotel, we wished we could have stayed longer.
A few days upon arrival, I emailed Aziz, the owner, to request a taxi pick up at the ferry terminal. The taxi was inexpensive (7 Euros) and a quick and stress free way to get to the hotel, which is situated on a hilltop.
When I booked the room, I also booked Aziz as a tour guide for the day of our arrival. The walking tour was about 5 hours including a stop for lunch at a fish restaurant and cold tea on a rooftop cafe. This tour was amazing.
Breakfast, on the rooftop of the hotel, was a wonderful 1.5 hour experience. Do not miss this. Not only was the scenery beautiful, but the food, served at your table, was delicious and plentiful.
During our stay, we had to deal with a business matter in Spain, unfortunately we do not speak Spanish. We asked Aziz to be an interpreter for us on a phone call. He was able to help us resolve the matter and we are very grateful for his assistance.
Aziz was personable and professional. His level of service was exceptional. He is an excellent tour guide providing knowledgeable information about Tangier’s people and culture.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience with Aziz and our stay at his beautiful hotel. Would highly recommend.

This review is a little late but Aziz definitely deserves it.
We started and finished this trip to Morocco in Tangier, staying at the La Maison Blanche both ends.
Aziz is a most convivial host and we instantly felt welcome; nothing is too much trouble for him and he made sure we had everything we needed each day.
The Riad is a beautifully restored building in an ideal position at the top of the Medina, near the Kazbah. From this position, you can easily explore the medina; winding your way down the hill, through the streets and alleys. We had no qualms about roaming around here in evenings too.
The 9 rooms all have their own character, individually decorated, in a traditional Moroccan style. We tried 2 rooms this time.
Breakfast on the Roof Terrace, offering great views over the Medina, is a delight. All the food is freshly prepared too.
We will definitely stay here on our next trip.

I've stayed in Tangier several times as an expat lliving in Morocco. If you want a clean , classy, professional, authentic riad Ls Maison Blanche is your place! It is simple yet elegant, clean lines, and superior service. All communication was immediate and accomodating. On the rare occasion something came up, it was addressed immediately and beyond satisfaction. The water pressire is amazing- especially after days of traveling the country. The classy, Tangier "celebrity" rooms are simple and tasteful. Your wish is their command. The riad is just steps away from a few great restaurants, specifically El Morocco Club. 15/10- definitely recommend

We had to leave quite early in the morning and we asked if they could serve us breakfast before we left, and they did. They asked us the night before so they do cater to your needs.

Thanks, Nancy!!! I've made contact with Aziz and reserved a room and we're making arrangements for a tour. I'm so excited!!
Every suite has a safe now, and we do have a general safe at the reception.
