Travelers' Choice
Riad Dar One has been renewed with elegance and originality and combines harmoniously design, charm of the old riads and modern comfort. A particular care have been brought to all the lamps and to the thick curtains witch give a smart and funny touch, "very vintage" . An attentive and smiling staff is present 24h on 24 to serve, advise and meet all the expectations of travellers. A haven of peace in the heart of the Medina.

This riad was just brilliant. We had two rooms, and both were stylishly decorated, and so quite and dark at night! I slept brilliantly well. The roof terrace is great, and they serve alcohol too, which is Marrakech, is a bonus. The hotel staff were brilliant, and nothing was too much trouble. We will be back!

Nobody knows exactly how many times I have stayed at Dar One as we've lost count but I have visited regularly since 2008. So why if I love this place so much am I only now writing a review? I used to write a review after each visit but as there were so many this platform decided that they must be fake and removed them all. Stop searching and just book as you won't find better. The riad is amazingly beautiful, spotlessly clean, perfectly located and the staff is outstanding. I absolutely adore the staff starting with the owner Jean Peres. When you book (do it directly with the riad), you will deal with Jean and he will help you with any questions you may have. He is an organising genius. He will arrange anything you need, be it a transfer from the airport (do it!), restaurant recommendations and reservations, spa advice and bookings, Atlas mountain tours, balloon rides - whatever your requirements, Jean is your man. He will help you regardless and no need for bribes but he is extremely partial to mature English cheddar! Amina is the cook and in my opinion a dinner cooked by her is the best Moroccan meal you can eat in Marrakech. Abdel runs the riad during the day. Not much to be said about Abdel other than he is perfect. Dar One is a very special place. It is stunning and so tranquil. It is about a 10 minute walk to the madness of Djemaa el Fna and the main souks so the perfect calm retreat after a day of sightseeing. But be warned - go there once and you will want to go back.

What a nice secluded place to stay, but not far away from the Medina. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who made us feel most welcome. The owner Jean, was great, organising a private transfer from the airport and a wonderful home cooked meal on our first night. As there are only 6 rooms it was like being in a private home. The roof top garden was peaceful and relaxing after a busy day in the Medina. Great breakfast every day, with a variety of fresh fruit, yoghurt with warm pancakes & bread, plus a pot of strong coffee to set us up for the days exploring. Would highly recommend staying at this place if you visit Marrakech. We enjoyed our stay so much; and have already planned our next trip this spring.

Stayed two nights in this tranquil riad, close to centre, but tucked away down stone steps through a hole in the wall and a couple of alleyways (luckily there was someone to meet us and guide the way). We had a stylish and spacious room with a very comfortable bed. Loved our big stone bath and the pretty courtyard where breakfast and dinner are served. Jean, the owner, was very welcoming, as was Hassan, who showed us around on arrival. Enjoyed sitting on the rooftop in the evening, although chilly up there in January so didn't brave the hot tub!

We were delighted with the warm welcome from owner-manager, Jean, who gave us a very useful orientation on the house and how to make best use of its facilities and location. His attention to detail permeates the operation - friendly, helpful, efficient and knowledgeable staff who go the extra mile and do so readily and with a smile. We booked 2 rooms - our daughter had a lovely room and thoroughly enjoyed its (very deep) bath. We were in the lovely Sirocco room on the comfortable, sunny roof terrace - our room in turn had its own private terrace with a lovely sunbed. Breakfast and sun-bathing can be had on the terrace by all of the guests but we mostly had a free run. We took our lovely breakfasts in the salon and the log fire was most welcome on January meetings. Service was friendly and Amina, the chef, is a star who cooks as ably as she laughs and smiles. We dined in the Riad on our arrival. I had told Jean we were a little "tajined" out but Amina proved us wrong and I am glad she did. Our dinner was one of the best of our trip. Breakfasts included just-squeezed fresh as can be oj, good coffee, a lovely selection of breads and pastries (that varied each day), fruit salads, yoghurt and eggs/omelettes to order. All delicious! We did a tour of the spice and veg markets with Amina where we purchased the ingredients for a lovely 3 course lunch we prepared under Amina's friendly supervision. We were greatly assisted by the very knowledgeable Hassan who also proved a remarkably skilled cocktail maker. He and Jean gave us great restaurant suggestions. The house is situated in an "up and coming" section of the Mellah - do not be put off by the run down approach: the locals may be poor but they are proud of their city and kindly to respectful visitors. We had no security concerns and received only friendly nods and greetings. We were sorry when our Marrakech leg of our trip ended but we most definitely will see our new friends of Riad Dar One à bientôt. Superb!
