2023 Travelers' Choice Best of the Best
Our receptionists are skilled at answering your pre-booking queries AND everything that can possibly make your stay in Marrakesh a holiday to remember. We will welcome you to our riad as we would friends coming to stay in our home. We have 12 rooms, individually styled. Our riad has a long history of ruin and grandeur, like many old riads, in the middle of the old city of Marrakesh. There is an interesting story behind everything in Morocco. We are perfectly situated at the entrance to the old souk and close to the Djemma el Fna Square. Taxis and transport are just outside our door. We have a swimming pool and hammam, jacuzzi and sun longing rooftop area. We offer practical advice and warm, caring support during your stay. We have a good restaurant onsite - with a delicious breakfast but also open for evening meals - some delicious Moroccan food alongside Italian specials, a local musician and rooftop views. Come stay with us and you will not be disappointed!

Such a beautiful riad and the location is great. It's just inside the gates of the medina and about a 10 minute walk to Jemaa el Fna square. Check-in is done in the lobby area where you are seated in a beautiful room and served mint tea and cookies while the paperwork is completed and they take the bags to your room. The room was very nice. It was comfortable and felt authentic. We had beautiful stained glass windows but they were covered up by some sort of pillow/mattress and behind drapes. We immediately opened them up and stored the mattresses in the closet! Not sure why they were covered. There was no issue with noise or light. The room was also covered in rose petals! Very nice! And in the evenings, they did a turn down service with hot water bottles. Nice touch and great on my feet after touring all day. The shower wasn't perfect. The temperature varied wildly, from scorching hot to ice cold and if we wanted hot water in the tub, it filled VERY slowly. But it was good enough and we experienced this same issue at all but 1 of the places we stayed in Morocco (5 different ones). There is a free electrical outlet on each side of the bed. The one on my side was a switched outlet and I took me a minute to figure out why it wasn't working! The staff is so welcoming and goes out of their way to be helpful. We arranged transportation from the airport through them and the driver was waiting for us right outside the airport. It was very easy. We were exhausted touring one day and the staff helped us order pizza delivery so we didn't have to go back out! We did the hammam at the riad and it was ok. We have no experience with hammam so I have nothing to compare it too but it wasn't as relaxing as I expected. The benches you lay on are tile/concrete and the scurb is very rough. I think this is just how hammam is! The woman who performed it was very kind and seemed very experienced. I love massage an the spa and I wouldn't do it again. We also did a massage and it was fine, not the best I've had but enjoyable. They offer wine and cocktails in the lobby, which is nice. Not all riads in Morocco do. We like to have drinks in the evening and it was nice to sit in the lobby by the fire and chat about our day and review our photos. The mojito was one of the best I've ever had! There is a rooftop that has lounge chairs and a hot tub (which was cold). I would have expected it to be turned on in February. We didn't ask about it as we didn't have time to use it. They brought snacks and wine up for us one evening to watch the sunset. And it looks like they are in the process of renovating the area. It's a nice space and I hope they use it more in the future. I have a few suggestions if Dar Anika would like to step up their game. First is the lighting. The lighting in the room is really dim. It was ok for us because we didn't need any task lighting but if you were planning to catch up on any work or need bright light to see for packing or dressing, you might have a problem. The lighting in the bathroom was bad for makeup, too. I ended up sitting at the desk by the window with a mirror to do my makeup. That only works when it's daylight so if you're a makeup-wearer and need light, I'd suggest bringing a lighted mirror. Second is to offer complimentary tea, coffee and/or water in the lobby. It's not expensive to do and would really add to the ambiance. Breakfasts are plentiful and good. Moroccans eat a lot of carbs! But they also offer yogurt, fruit, and eggs. We also had dinner one night and enjoyed that. The tagine I had here was my favorite of the trip. It had noodles of some sort and was delicious! I highly recommed Dar Anika wouldn't hesitate to stay again if we return to Morocco.

I’m overwhelmed by their warm welcome and hospitality. We had a surprise birthday 🎂 and we were looked after like we were at home away from home . Lovely suite , clean and nice decor . We would like to thanks all the staff and especially Mohammed . We loved character and art of the Riad . Highly recommended.

The staff and rooms were amazing and the hospitality second to none. The location was also close to major attractions. Took advantage of the onsite hammam and massage services. Loved my stay and will definitely return.

Riad Dar Anika has been a fabulous place to stay. Really well located less than ten minutes walk to Jemaa -el-Fnaa and right in Medina but easy for taxis as well. Ahmed and the whole team really do their utmost to look out for their guests giving advice and supporting in finding taxis and tour pick ups. The breakfast is lovely and the team were brilliant giving us a very early breakfast before hot air ballooning well ahead of the published breakfast hours. The Riad itself is beautiful and the room a perfect size with so many lovely touches. The roof terrace was a wonderful place to relax after the Medina with a cooling jacuzzi and sun loungers. It truly is a haven and very tranquil amongst all the high energy in the Medina. We would thoroughly recommend this Riad for anyone visiting Marrakech and will definitely rebook if we return here. Thank you very much indeed!

I personally manage a B&B in UK and also me and my partner traveled a lot…but this is the best hotel we ever stayed in! The welcome and hospitality throughout was extremely warm and welcoming. - a gentle “afternoon tea” plus a map and introduction of the city at arrival - dates with milk were my favourite gift before bed plus a hot bottle water - at departure we received a bag with snacks that was perfect for our long journey to Ouarzazate. There are my places to stay everywhere you go but the whole experience in Riad Dar Anika makes us felt like a carrying mother looking after us and made it my favourite all time. I truly recommend you experience this yourself 😊 Thanks again

We have had the best experience staying at Riad Dar Anika. This was our first time in Marrakech, an we will definitely come back! - they welcomed us with mint tea and sweets, and gave us great information about the area, and where to go etc. - the nicest staff!! - the location makes it easy to go anywhere, but it’s also quiet in the night so we had no problem sleeping. -They cleaned the room every time we went out, and gave us fruits, sweets, dates and milk! -They also gave us hot water bottles to have in the bed (the temperature was good even in January). - in the evening they lit the fireplace, and also had a musician playing (i think) authentic Moroccan music - the breakfast was also so good! There is also a lot more i could share, but all in all this stay made our first time in Marrakech the absolute best! Thank you to the wonderful staff at Riad Dar Anika! I will bring my family here next time!

An exceptional Riad, fantastic interior and decor and so friendly. The location is perfect, rooms lovely and intimate, made a fuss of us. Everyone welcoming and went extra mile. Would recommend. Ahmed helped us arrange a day trip to Imlil in the Atlas Mountains with a lovely guide called Hassain, 4km walk. And you have to do the Hammam massage experience.

An absolutely amazing place to stay, perfect from the moment we arrived until the minute we left. Staff were informative, kind, patient and helpful. The Riad is beautiful. Fabulous location, easy to walk everywhere and close enough to pop back for a rest on the roof terrace in-between wanders around the amazing streets of Marrakech. Bedrooms are large enough, super comfortable, amazingly cool and quiet. Nothing too much trouble for the staff, lovely breakfast and they were always happy to bring me tea! Would highly recommend and long to go back already.
