We stayed here for our first trip to Marrakech, in Sep 2019, but had returned home to a busy year and never got to leave a review until now! Our first night was in a Junior Suite, the one/s that lead upstairs to a private jacuzzi tub on the rooftop. The following day, we left our luggage with the riad to visit a desert camp, and returned to a Grand Suite due to room availability. I actually prefer the former - the grand suite while very spacious felt a little empty, where as the rooftop of the junior suite offered a sense of calm from the busyness of the city and the souks. Overall, the property was clean, there was no language barrier, and service was hospitable. It was our first time to Morocco and I found the layout and architecture of the riads within the medina an eye-opener. The transfer from the airport is very handy as an employee will wait to pick you up from the street where cars can go no further, and lead you through the maze of streets to the riad. They are happy to guide you to and from the street this way, but you probably won’t need the service after venturing out once or twice. The El F’na square, adjacent souks, and the Ben Youssef school (it was closed for renovation at the time) are all within walking distance, and we hailed taxis only to take us farther out. They operate mostly by agreed price than the meter, so you do need to develop a sense of what is acceptable versus opportunistic. The riad should be able to give an idea of what’s fair. Some restaurants one might come across while researching the trip are actually part of a riad, and they typically serve local cuisine (and breakfast every morning). We didn’t stay in Marrakech for more than a few days, and personally I’d suggest not to overdo the riad dining and miss out on restaurants or cafes in the city, some of which seemed very interesting.…
After the whole coronavirus thing I was so afraid of traveling and going around the world. But fortunately I found the perfect riad! Everything is cleaned and checked all the times, there are hand sanitizer stations throughout the whole hotel, the staff always wear masks the whole time. I felt protected and safe inside this place. Adding on to this the location is just amazing, the staff is always there if in need and the food was just over the top!
Absolutely amazing place, the service is great and the dècor is stunning. Not a single fault in the hotel and it was just so peaceful, serene and romantic. You are welcomed with a smile, moroccon tea and biscuits which just really brings you in to the authentic Moroccan culture and atmosphere. I was surprised with how beautiful the place was inside. Really showed me that beauty lies in hidden things and simplicity. I loved how this place was so different and unique to all the other luxury hotels i had visited before. Something you would only experience for your self!
a great place, especially if you are wanting peace, quiet and luxury. staff very very attentive but invisible until you need them. great food and rooftop bar. you walk into the riad from busy streets passing charming tiny homes and shops. very close to main bazzar and shopping. great location
We cannot recommend Riad72 enough for anyone looking for a beautiful, elegant and supremely run place to stay in the heart of Marrakech. We had the pleasure of taking the property exclusively for 2 days in February for a 30th celebration, with friends from around the world joining us having never been before, all of whom could not compliment the service, setting, design, location (the list goes on…) enough! The rooms are beautifully decorated with style and taste, and are great sizes with some benefiting from their own terraces and private jacuzzi’s. I would highly recommend the Arte Suite or Junior Suite if looking to treat yourself (it’s worth it!), as you get to enjoy your own terrace overlooking the rooftops of Marrakech. Perfect for sunbathing and sundowners, complete with jacuzzi..! Most come with walk-in showers and/or bath combos (shower over the bath) - but if that’s important to you, just be sure to check with the very friendly staff who can help recommend accordingly. The property itself is expansive and very impressive. The courtyards come alive at night, with candles, music and feels very romantic and alluring. During the day, they provide a great space to escape the sun, whilst still taking in the stunning sky above and through the large trees. The rooftops are exceptional - and provide many spaces to eat, drink, relax and sunbathe. Being above all the other neighbouring properties really allowed you to take in the great weather, endless vistas and are a great vantage point for taking in the snowcapped Atlas Mountains in the distance. The location is very convenient, situated just outside of the souks (3/4 min walk), in an area that feels very safe. The hotel has a porter than can walk with you to wherever you would like to go - and can assist with taxis, private cars, etc. very easily. We enjoyed walking with guests in and out of the souks, and to neighbouring restaurants with ease. The riad are also very good at organising private transport (we often had 4/5 Viano’s on the go to help with guests getting around, airport transfers, etc), and are very competitively priced, whilst offering a very professional service. We would highly recommend using this service through them should you need it - it’s worth the little bit extra. The food and drink menus are wide ranging for a property of this size, with breakfast, lunch and dinner all being of very high quality and beautifully presented. They have an excellent selection of Moroccan wines and dishes (the Valoublia rose is a particular favourite). Meals can be enjoyed all over the property / where you wish, and would thoroughly recommend enjoying dinner there one evening - as the restaurant is very highly regarded in Marrakech. For our event, we of course got to sample all of the above and cannot say a bad word about it. The terrace was the perfect spot to welcome guests for a champagne and canapé reception as they were treated to the most spectacular sunset whilst taking in some local musicians. It made for some sensational pictures! The canapés were plentiful and very tasty - a must have if doing something similar. This was followed by the most exceptional dinner, with a beautifully designed long table for 30, adorned with candles, roses and glassware - which we left in Stefania’s hands who did an amazing job. The setting was incredible and truly memorable - as was the food they served to guests. Everything was done with such thoughtful attention to detail - brilliantly presented, whilst being very wholesome and leaving no one going hungry! Our guests (and ourselves) were beyond impressed and felt very special throughout - which is exactly how we wanted them to feel. It was a flawless evening that then opened up into the courtyard with a little music, more drinks and conversation flowing well into the night. Last but by no means least was service - which was very expertly executed, friendly and efficient throughout. A very special mention goes to Stefania, who does such a fantastic job at leading the team and creating a very effortless and pleasant experience for guests. She works very hard to ensure everything is just right, and this naturally feeds through to the team - all of whom could not do enough to help you. This is what transformed the experience and our stay for us - from housekeeping, to waiters, bellboys, to restaurant managers… no request was too big and Stefania and the team did a brilliant job at taking much of the stress out of organising and running such a fantastic event. We cannot thank them enough for helping create the most special memories for us - and wouldn’t think twice about staying there again. We have been to Marrakech nine times now, and out of all the medina properties, this has been our favourite. If you are looking for an authentic, stylish, elegant, expertly-run riad in the Medina - do not think twice and go here! You will not be disappointed.…
